Introduction
HOSPITAL HISTORY
LaGonâveWesleyenHospitalisafaith-based hospitaldedicatedtocaringforthesick,promoting preventativemedicine,andtrainingcaregiversand techniciansontheislandofLaGonâve,Haiti.Since itsfoundingin1948bytheWesleyanMission,the hospitalhasprovidedbasichealthservicesthrough residentmedicalstaffandvisitingteamsof specialiststotheentiresurroundingregionofAnseà-Galets.
Withmorethan100,000residentswithoutother accesstothekindofmedicalresourcesthehospital provides,LaGonâveWesleyenHospitaliscommitted toneverturninganyoneaway.Residentswould otherwiseneedtotakea12-miletripacrossthesea inunsafeboatsfollowedbyatwo-hourdriveviabus ortaxitoahospitalthatmayormaynotreceive
them andthat’siftheyareabletopaytogetoffthe islandinthefirstplace.
Eachyear,WHIworkswithpartnerstosend containersofsupplies,medicines,andequipmentto thehospital.In2020,asolar-poweredwater desalinationsystemwascompletedwithourpartner GivePowerprovidingasustainablesourceofclean waterforthecommunityaswellasfreewaterforthe hospital.InpartnershipwithBuildHealth

WHIhasbeenworkingcloselywiththehospital administrationtostrengthenitsfinancialprocesses andcapacity,includingitsreporting,procurement, andfriendsandpartnershipdevelopmentstrategy
Now,inpartnershipwithBuildHealthInternational, WHIisembarkingonamulti-yearstrategicplanto buildahealthcaresystemthatissustainable, equitable,andserviceableforthecommunityofLa Gonâve
International,WHIprovidedthehospitalwithanew solarenergygridallowingthehospitaltobecome energyindependent.

Proposal
FUNDING FOR PHASE I (OF V) IS NEARING COMPLETION; PHASE II IS READY TO BEGIN
LaGonâveWesleyenHospitalhas beenoperatingasthesolehospitalon "theforgotten"HaitianislandofLa Gonâvesinceitsfounding.The hospitalwasabletodeploytwo medicalteamsandresourcestothe HaitianmainlandtoprovidelifesavingcareforsurvivorsoftheAugust 14,2021,earthquakewhilecontinuing operationsasusual.
Butastheoutpatientclinicnears70 yearsold,thehospitalisindireneed ofimprovements,upgrades,and additionsifitisgoingtocontinueto servethepeopleofHaitiwithquality healthcare.
Thatiswhy,withthehelpofsomany generousfriendsandpartnerslike BuildHealthInternational,World Hopehasembarkeduponamultiyear,$13millionstrategiccapital improvementprojecttobecompleted in5phases.Thesestrategic investmentswillresultinimproved functionalityatthehospital,an improvedhospitalcampusand facilities,increasedmedicalcapacity, andmoreefficientoperational practices.
Atthispointintheprocess,World Hopeisfocusedoncompletingthe firsttwocriticalphases.
