World Centric began as a non-profit organization to raise awareness of global issues like inequality, poverty and environmental degradation.
In 2022, as many as 685 million people lived on less than $2.15 per day. Many communities around the world lack access to basic necessities like food, water, sanitation, education, and healthcare. Climate change exacerbates the cycle of poverty for these groups, which lack the
resources to mitigate extreme environmental changes.
Since 2009, World Centric has given 25% of our annual profits to support grassroots organizations fighting social and environmental injustice both in and with communities living on less than $2.15/day – World Bank’s Extreme Poverty Line. We believe that a better world starts with supporting access to basic necessities and economic opportunities.

Using Business as a Force for Good
World Centric’s products are designed with the end of life in mind. Ideally, the end is in a compost system which will allow the products to return to the earth. The unfortunate reality is that many of our products do not reach their intended final destination. There are several barriers preventing compostables from being properly discarded which include a lack of composting infrastructure, access to composting collection or drop off and overall lack of awareness of the benefits of compostables by consumers and businesses.
We are striving to change that through our participation in numerous composting advocacy groups that lobby for more widespread access to composting in North America. Our Resource Recovery Team participates in the following:
