Adding a second police resource officer to Woodstock School District 200 is an idea that interests the
school board. But members want more details. At its meeting April 10, the board authorized Superintendent Mike Moan to pursue another officer so that one each can be assigned to the two high school buildings. “I think that’s a step in the right direction,” Woodstock Police Chief John Lieb said in a later interview with e Independent. One year after starting distribution of cloth shopping bags, the city of Woodstock is preparing for the next steps in its project to reduce local retail use of plastic bags. “We’re really starting to gain momentum on the second phase,” said Deb Schober, the city’s director of Human Resources. e city’s Facebook page has been updated with the latest information on the Sustainable Woodstock project (go to the Environmental Commission page, click Our Initiatives Update). A meeting is expected soon with local retailers to make sure they are on board, and a separate meeting is planned for the public to comment and ask questions.
