Philanthropy,
These are the top areas funded through your generous donations and grants to the Foundation in fiscal year 2025.
$2,510,268
At Woodland Healthcare Foundation, a compassionate group of donors support our mission in a variety of ways and we, and the patients we serve, are deeply grateful.
Throughout the year, generous Woodland Healthcare Foundation donors provide annual support by responding to special appeals and making gifts to our Guardian Angels program, and some choose to deepen their impact by making major gifts of $10,000 or more. Beyond immediate contributions, we are thankful for planned gifts, such as IRA distributions, charitable gift annuities, and estate gifts. Additionally, vital grants from private and public institutions significantly advance our mission. Each donation, whether large or small, enables the Foundation to provide cuttingedge technology, offer support services, maintain our level of excellence, and keep care close to home.

100% of your charitable gifts benefit our community.
Thanks to an operating grant from Dignity Health, 100% of your gift to Woodland Healthcare Foundation is directed to your chosen designation. Your generosity and expressions of gratitude—individually and collectively— enable us to envision and achieve the remarkable. Thank you for partnering with us, connecting your purpose and passion with our mission to provide high-quality, compassionate care for our families, friends and neighbors.
We’re pleased to announce the recent completion of the refresh of the Infusion Center suites, made possible by generous gifts from our community and employee donors!
The Infusion Center is a haven for patients navigating their cancer journey, offering compassionate care in a welcoming environment. Our dedicated team of doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers understand the importance of comfort and support during vital therapies like chemotherapy, antibiotics, nutrition, and hydration.
This is the first refresh of the physical space in decades, making these updates particularly impactful. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we've significantly enhanced all five private, bedroom-like suites within the Infusion Center. These dedicated spaces are crucial for patients who need to lie down during their treatment, and our experienced nurses offer these specialized suites to those who need extra care and privacy.
The improvements include new paint in a serene color palette, and all new furniture including comfortable beds and new seating for families or friends who are accompanying their loved one to infusion treatment. Additionally, new artwork and fresh bedding were added throughout, carefully chosen to create a truly calming and peaceful environment for healing.
Your support has let all patients who rely on the Infusion Center in the Lorie Haarberg Cancer Center know that their community cares for them and walks by their side as they navigate their journey towards health and healing. Thank you for making this vital update a reality.
Thanks in part to the generous philanthropic support of community donors, this summer Woodland Healthcare hosted a ribbon cutting and unveiling of its new state-ofthe-art da Vinci Robotic Surgical System.
The da Vinci system allows surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures with enhanced precision, flexibility, and control. Benefits for patients include less pain, lower risk of complications, less scarring, shorter recovery time, and a faster return to everyday activities.
The system provides surgeons with a 3D, high-definition view of the surgical area, magnified 10 times to what the human eye can see. This enhanced visualization, combined with the system's advanced instruments, allows surgeons to perform both routine and complex procedures that may have been more difficult with other surgical methods.
The new surgical system will help attract and retain Woodland Clinic Medical Group surgeons, who will perform approximately 400 robotic-assisted surgeries each year, including procedures for oncology patients. Stitch, the da Vinci robot, will significantly reduce the strain associated with scheduling and traveling, keeping advanced surgical care close to home for our community.
“With an advanced robotic program, we are able to perform many major surgeries by way of small incisions, which enables us to send patients home the same day—allowing them to return to their normal lives faster and with lower surgical risks.”
–Karen Winn-Vroom, MD, Chair of the Surgery Department
Thanks to your generous support, Woodland Healthcare patients now have access to cutting-edge Ultrasound Fusion Software, significantly improving the accuracy of prostate cancer detection. This advanced technology allows urologists to perform fusion biopsies, utilizing MRI-identified “hotspots” to guide the biopsy and increase cancer detection accuracy to 90-95%, a significant increase from the standard ultrasound-guided biopsy. This means fewer false negatives, earlier and more accurate diagnoses, and ultimately, the potential for earlier treatment and improved outcomes for patients. Thank you for making this life-saving technology possible.
Thank you to the Rotary Club of Woodland and Rotary Club of Woodland, Sunrise for their steadfast support, which has made a tangible difference and demonstrated their commitment to our community.
The Rotary Club of Woodland's most recent contribution directly benefited our Orthopedic Initiative, which helped bring advanced equipment and cuttingedge care capabilities to our community. Their legacy of giving to Woodland Healthcare Foundation dates back to 1987, and past contributions include support for the Advanced Imaging and Surgical Services Campaign, a Cheetah Monitoring System for the Oncology Department, a hearing test device for newborns and young children, and more.
The Rotary Club of Woodland, Sunrise has also made an immense impact, with their latest gift designated for the expansion of our Adult Day Health Center. This important center provides vital resources for individuals and profoundly improves their quality of life. Their generosity to our Foundation began more than 25 years ago, and their gifts have helped equip our Emergency Department with state-of-the-art technology, and supported the COVID-19 Response Fund, Strengthening Our Roots campaign, and other initiatives.
The inspiring generosity of these two impactful Rotary Clubs helps empower Woodland Healthcare to provide exceptional care, improving lives and fostering a healthier future for all.
Each day the Woodland Healthcare team is committed to providing compassionate care for patients like you. Whether a routine exam, a life saving surgery, or simply someone to hold your hand; our medical team is dedicated to caring for you, your loved ones, and the community with humankindness.
In gratitude for extraordinary humankindness, many patients express their appreciation for the care they have received through the Guardian Angels program. This program offers grateful patients and their loved ones a meaningful way to thank caregivers by making a gift to Woodland Healthcare Foundation in their honor.
Guardian Angel gifts honoring our dedicated physicians, nurses, and staff help fund programs, equipment and services that allow our caregivers to provide the most compassionate and effective care possible.
Here is a sampling of tributes, received with gifts this fiscal year, from grateful patients in recognition of their caregivers:
“Each and every one of you has provided compassionate care, lifted me up and made a positive impact in my life. I am grateful—you are true angels.”
“Thank you for all your care over the years. Your kindness and expertise bring great comfort.”
“Thank you so much. I trust you. I believe in you.”
“Your kindness and attentiveness has touched my heart. I feel in excellent hands and safe and welcome. Thank you!”
“Thank you for taking such good care of our health and wellness for all these years. We truly appreciate you.”

We are grateful for generous donors like you, who have partnered with Woodland Healthcare to create an astounding impact on our community.
In recent years, we’ve observed a growing trend: donors are exploring new ways to maximize their charitable impact while optimizing their financial strategies. More and more people are discovering the benefits of tax-smart giving, and we want to ensure you have the information you need to make informed decisions.
In addition to making cash gifts, consider these three tax-advantaged giving methods that can potentially save you money while supporting Woodland Healthcare Foundation's vital mission:
By donating appreciated stocks, you can provide substantial support to Woodland Healthcare and potentially avoid capital gains taxes. You will receive a charitable deduction based on the market value of the donated stock on the day the transfer was made.
More and more people are working with their financial advisors to set up a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), which can serve as your own charitable savings account. You will earn immediate tax benefits when you make charitable contributions to the fund and then recommend grants to nonprofits like Woodland Healthcare Foundation.
If you are age 70½ or older, a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows you to directly transfer funds from your IRA to a qualified nonprofit like ours. For those who are 73 or older, this distribution can count towards all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year, and the transferred amount is excluded from your taxable income.
To help you explore these options, we're pleased to offer a new, free resource through our partnership with FreeWill. This secure online platform guides you through the tax benefits of each giving method and allows you to initiate your gift in just a few minutes.
