Rugby News

Ned McCormack, Y13, was selected for the England U18's squad for the forthcoming Internationals. Ned has been here since Brontë House and has worked incredibly hard to achieve this recognition. He fully deserves the call-up following some outstanding performances for the school and the Yorkshire Academy U18 team. Unfortunately Ned picked up an injury which ruled him out of the training last week. However, once he’s recovered he should be in contention for the 6 Nations in April. We wish him all the best with his recovery.
Congratulations to Year 10 pupil Belle Nimmo who represented Yorkshire Rugby in February. She should be very proud of this achievement as she continues to develop and grow as a player.

Three Year 12 students took part in the 2nd round of the University of Bradford Mock Trial competition recently. Acting for the prosecution in the trial of the Crown v Richard James, they successfully argued that he had recklessly damaged a car whilst out walking with his pushchair on an icy day. The Judge stated that the students had an impressive line of arguments. The students were only given the case material a week before and have shown a massive commitment to the process by preparing in such a short time.
Philosophy Visit
A-level philosophy students were visited by students from The University of Leeds Philosophy Society who delivered a workshop on Epistemic Injustice; what it is, how it can be recognised and what harm it can do to society. The workshop was enjoyed by all and led to some very interesting conversations about philosophy in wider society.

The Bronze Duke of Edinburgh groups have been preparing for their expedition over the past few weeks and this week they’ve been putting up tents (in the Morton Hall to stay dry!)

We were delighted to welcome Michael Dawson, former Spurs football captain and England player, for a Q&A session with Mr Bradburne. Michael reinforced that hard work, determination and a positive attitude are key to a successful career, both on and off the field. It was interesting and inspiring to listen to Michael talk about his experiences during his 20-year career as a professional footballer.
