COLOUR FUN RUN 2024

Last week at Brontë House we held our first ever colour fun run, in support of Breast Cancer Now. Thank you to all our wonderful families at Brontë who got involved and donated, special thanks to the children who finished the day closely resembling rainbows! We are beyond grateful to be able to announce that as a school we have raised over £14,000.00 for Breast Cancer Now!

Ashdown in Action

Pre-nursery had lots of fun last week making their very own pizza bagels. They were very

Reception minibeasts using clay and painted them carefully the correct colours. They did a very good job!

Reception had a fantastic day at Herd Farm. They took part in bushcraft, crate stacking and an assault course. Everyone challenged themselves to do their best.

In their topic lessons, Year 1 have been learning facts about the United Kingdom. They worked in groups to create a poster about each country, showing capital cities, national flowers and famous landmarks.

To conclude their work on fractions Year 1 have enjoyed finding half of a quantity and representing a quarter using the peg boards.

Year 2, have been learning about Aboriginal Art and then created some lovely pieces of their own depicting Australian animals

In science Year 2 have been learning about habitats. They went on a micro habitat hunt around the school grounds and then recorded their findings on a pictogram.

A huge well done to Claudia, who raised £436 for Ovarian Cancer Action, at her teddy bear and bracelet stall at the colour run, in memory of her Grandma.

Year 2 are learning all about the country of Kenya in their topic lessons. Ezra’s mum worked in a number of schools whilst she was in Kenya and sent some photos in of when she was there for Ezra to

It was all smiles in Year 4 this week, as they continue learning about teeth and eating. The children were asked to make a presentation including as many facts as possible about all the different types of teeth in our mouths. They also had to describe how to look after our teeth.

Move for Mental Health.

Well done to Dawud, he missed the colour run because he was poorly so he decided to go on a hike, to earn the sponsorship money he had raised for Breast Cancer Now.

In humanities, Year 5 have been learning about rationing during World War II. The children were quite shocked to find out about the restrictions on food. Upon visiting the shop with their ration books, they realised they didn't have many items in their baskets to last them for a month!

For Mental Health Awareness Week Mrs Vernon, from The Grove, visited Year 5 and 6. They enjoyed learning how breathing, meditation and yoga and can be used to help our mental health.
