Well done to everyone, enjoy your half term break!
Rule Breakers!
Today was Break the Rules Day! Pupils could break up to 9 school rules today and pay £1 for each rule broken to raise money for Dogs Trust. They certainly enjoyed being rebels for a day!
Pre-Nursery have been enjoying the recent, nicer weather. They have been outdoors and using different physical movements.
Reception pupils had a fantastic day at Herd Farm Activity Centre. They took part in new and different activities designed to challenge them, whilst also allowing them to work together as a team. There seem to be a lot of daredevils in Reception!

This week in Nursery, pupils have been looking at the Very Hungry Caterpillar story. They have completed lots of creative activities around the topic, including making their own butterflies and caterpillars.
As a group, they talked about different life cycles and spotting butterflies in the garden.
Year 1 have been learning about the UK; locating the four countries and naming the capital cities. They worked together to create an information poster for each country. They also enjoyed constructing different London Landmarks which included St. Pancras Station, Buckingham Palace and London Zoo.
Year 1 continued their science work with a plant hunt around school. They were looking for both wild and garden plants and thinking about where to find them. They found all the plants listed except for a cowslip.
Year 2 delivered a fantastic assembly looking at the Grovian values of commitment and resilience. Super singing and a great all-round performance on the subject of Florence Nightingale.
It was a very busy week in the science lab for Year 4. They have been learning about States of Matter. They discussed how the particles for each state are made up and then played a blooket quiz all about solids, liquids and gases.
Year 2 have been creating Aboriginal dot art animals as part of their ‘Animal Art’ topic using paint and cotton buds.
Pupils also considered the melting points of different materials. They used thermometers to investigate the melting point of ice and the time it took for different amounts of ice to melt. There was even time to make a home-made lava lamp!
This week, Year 2 have also been measuring using balance scales to measure weight. They also looked at capacity and volume and how many cups of water each container needed to fill them. They measured in millilitres and litres and learned to read the scale.
Year 3 are incredibly proud of their versions of the picture book, Journey by Aaron Becker. They put a lot of effort into adding words to this beautifully illustrated story of magic and adventure.
Inspired by their recent residential to the North Yorkshire coastline, Year 4 used watercolour washes to paint the beach and rockpools exposed whilst the tide was out, looking inland towards the Boggle Hole.
Year 6 Residential to Wales
Year 6 had a blast last week at the Plas Menai outdoor centre in Bangor. The children had the opportunity to try loads of activities including mountain biking, powerboating, fishing, windsurfing and sailing. Needless to say they got wet a lot and were quite tired on the way home! Photos on flickr
Congratulations to Poppy Bedford, Year 6, who competed as part of team Yorkshire at the gymnastic National 3 finals last Saturday. She had a great experience competing against and amongst some of Britain’s best gymnasts.
