Well done everyone!
Flamingo Land for Year 5
Despite the intermittent rain showers, Year 5 had a super day out at Flamingo Land zoo earlier this week.

They got to see and handle some rainforest creatures, including snakes, and learned about their adaptations and habitats. They

Ashdown Lodge
It was great to see all the new children throwing themselves into life at Ashdown Lodge at the start of this academic year.
In their art topic, Year 1 are studying portraits. First they looked in a mirror and talked about what they could see, then followed step by step instructions to draw their facial features using sketching pencils.

Reception pupils really enjoyed using the climbing frame to test their balancing skills.

As part of their 'Sensational Salads' DT topic, Year 2 have been tasting different root vegetable salads. Apparently, some were delicious and some less so! They completed an evaluation form about each dish.

Year 1 & Year 6 had a great time this week photos from today, when our Year 6 children met their Year 1 buddies for the first time!

Year 2 have been completing a number of challenges this week, including building a bridge across the river for the Billy Goats Gruff, reading books to a reading buddy, performing the Billy Goats Gruff story using puppets, creating fruit and vegetable posters and recognising numbers to 20.

Year 3 are enjoying their PSHEE lessons with Jigsaw Jino. They have written their Jigsaw Charter, which is a set of agreed rules for our PSHEE lessons and we have shared our ideas with the help of our Jigsaw piece, Jino. This week we were trying to guess different emotions by using facial expressions and body language.

Year 5 science so far this term has been all about the solar system. They have shared some fabulous solar system facts; used a variety of fruit to produce a scale model of the planets; and made a scale model of the solar system using toilet roll to represent the distance of each planet from the sun.

This week Year 4 have been learning about Henry VIII and his six wives. They have been studying Tudor portraits in art and learning about one of the greatest 16th century portrait painters, Hans Holbein.
Year 6 started their Living Things topic this week using a well-known sweet treat to produce classification keys. They then went on a hunt for invertebrates to study.

Club News
In STEM Club for Y1 and Y2, the children were challenged to construct the first letter of their name in lego, with the extra condition that it must stand up by itself.

In Y3 and Y4 Photography Club, the theme was 'Colour in the Classroom.' The children had to focus on taking simple pictures that portray the colour as vividly as possible.

House Cross Country
It was a bright and beautiful afternoon at Bronte House for last week's cross country. Lots of excited pupils gathered on the school fields to take part and represent their house.

The numbers participating were excellent and some of the performances were very pleasing to see, but the main thing was that all pupils had fun, represented their house with pride and gained points towards the house trophy.
An excellent event that clearly was enjoyed by those gathered to spectate.
West Yorkshire Netball
Huge congratulations to three of our Year 6 girls, who have been selected to join the West Yorkshire Netball Performance Pathway.

Y5 and Y6 Football
Many of our sports clubs are up and running, starting with a fantastic afternoon of football for our Year 5 and 6 girls.
Thank you to all parents and pupils who came to watch, spectate and participate. We look forward to seeing you all again for
