everyone a lovely half term break.
Thanks to everyone who attended the Harvest Festival yesterday, in spite of the weather! The pupils were fantastic and it was lovely to finally attend a whole school event again. Thanks for your donations of food which we have now handed to Bradford Foodbank. We also raised £353.00. There are lots of photos on

Pre Nursery have been getting very creative this week; decorating Autumn leaves; filling and emptying the rice and lentils; playing in the spaghetti; and making their own music. They have learnt lots of new skills such as filling and emptying, exploring sounds, exploring different senses and textures and using their fine motor skills to pick up spaghetti with tweezers.
Reception children made a 'magic potion'. They scooped the insides out of a pumpkin and then thought about what might happen when they put bicarbonate of soda, washing up liquid, food colouring and vinegar in it. They had lots of ideas such as it exploding and bubbling. After adding all the ingredients, they waited eagerly to see what would happen.
have been looking inside pumpkins, talking about the seeds and what the inside of a pumpkin feels like.
They have also been on the bikes practising their listening skills to stop and go. They have used shapes to create pictures; some children created their families, rockets, their house and cars.
They have also been making harvests wreaths and reading together in groups.
We wish Mrs Sykes all the best with her first marathon during the half term break. Mrs Sykes will be running Marathon Des Alpes Maritimes from Nice to Cannes for Action Bladder UK.
In STEM Club, Year 1 & 2 designed patterns using block shapes. They carefully arranged the shapes to design a pattern or a picture. Hexagons inspired honeycomb and bees; green triangles were blades of grass. Some children even designed their own inventions a leaf collector and a honey collector.
Meanwhile Construction Club have been carefully following instructions to build their different models.
Year 1 have enjoyed using the iPads in geography this week. They had to find areas of the school from an aerial photo.
In PSHE, Year 1 were given a ticket which said something they had done that made their teacher feel proud of them. Look at
Year 1 were excited to meet their 'buddies' from Year 6, who read and shared stories with them whilst Year 1 chatted about themselves and their classrooms. They are looking forward to more joint activities throughout the year.
Year 1 tested their senses in Science. They realised how tricky it is to put on their coat or complete a jigsaw without sight! On the taste test; crisps were favourite, lemon was surprisingly popular, but they also discovered they weren’t quite so keen on the smell of vinegar! More photos on Facebook.
Year 2 have been creating healthy balanced meals using different materials combining their science, topic and DT lessons. They have been very creative; Acer made his cucumber using pipe cleaners and tissue paper, Ava-Rose made spaghetti bolognaise using pipe cleaners and pom poms.
Year 3 have been telling the time this week on analogue and digital clocks. They can

clay to sculpt Egyptian masks for their Ancient Egypt topic and in Clay Creations Club, the children enjoyed making and decorating clay owls.
Year 4 had fun estimating and measuring in maths this week. A variety of objects were measured, including their hands! A key challenge was to convert from metres into centimetres and then into millimetres.
Sports Roundup
Our swim team were in action for a triangular gala against Bradford Grammar and Ashville. There were some very close individual and relay events and a fantastic atmosphere. Well done to the Brontë team, who came second.
Fantastic resilience shown by Year 5 netballers against Moorlands in the rain. One win and one loss; special mention for Juno’s shooting, Florence’s movement on court; and Pippa’s grit and determination. Well done everyone.
Our U11 rugby team were in action at QEGS in the Harrison Cup. The boys played well with 2 wins, 2 draws and 4 losses. In the HMC rugby, our contact team won 4 of their games and the non contact team also played well, scoring dozens of tries between them.
Our runners enjoyed their second Leeds League cross country race and there were some great individual performances.
