Parent Information

Internet Matters have produced a really simple guide for parents using Activate, Balance and Check.

The ABC's are broken down by age to make this as simple as possible for parents: All ages, under 5's, 6-10, 11-13 and 14+.

We thought this was worth sharing!

You can download the guide HERE.

Year 1

This week Year 1 children have been introduced to adjacent consonants through the Twinkl Phonics story about Kit and Sam. They completed their book activity and enjoyed using play dough to help them learn some tricky words.

Reception

Reception have been working on their cutting and sticking skills. They cut out shapes to make a bear. They have also have been taking on the sewing bee challenge where they have been sewing the outline of a bear.

Year 2

Have had a busy and incredibly varied start to the term!

In Week 1 they were writing super sentences and making collage fruit faces in the style of Guiseppe Arcimboldo.

Week 2 it was all about building boundary walls in outdoor adventure and tasting and evaluating salads in DT!

Year 3

In PSHE, Year 3 have been thinking about how they will develop a growth mindset when faced with challenges this year. We talked about the kinds of phrases that the children could use and created these colourful posters focusing on commitment and resilience.

Year 4

In Year 4 English lessons, the children have been using role play and improvisation to recreate a scene from the story book 'Gorilla' to help them gain a deeper understanding into the thoughts and feelings of the characters .

Year 4 have also enjoyed designing their very own Tudor outfits with vibrant colours and sparkling gems inspired by the costume designs from SIX the musical!

Meeting Adam Peaty!

During the summer Millie from Y4 took part in one of Adam Peaty's Swim sessions. She shared some photos of her time with him and showed us his autograph. She's a passionate swimmer and Adam is one of her heroes so she was very excited to tell us all about it at the start of the school year!

Brontë Gardeners with Mr Lambert

The team made the most of the recent sunshine, harvesting corn, runner beans, shallots, onions and peas.

Year 5

Kicked off their 'Out of this World' science topic this week, by mind mapping what they know about our solar system. They created resourceful ways of presenting their incredible knowledge. #grovianvalues.

Year 5 were blessed with fabulous weather on their trip to Flamingo Land this week. The animals were out in force and the children enjoyed learning about their habitats, adaptations and the zoo's conservation efforts. They even got to meet some of the animals close up in a workshop session. The knowledge they gleaned from the visit will be invaluable in their studies, this term, on the rainforests. Year 6

There were plenty of smiles as Year 6 started their first science topic of the year. With several collaborations with the Grove Science Department to look forward to, they have an exciting year ahead of them!

In their computing lessons, they have started learning about variables in computer programming. They have been thinking about what variables are, and trying to identify them and then use them effectively in their own code. In humanities they have immersed themselves in the civilisation of the Maya. They have been learning about society and how it was structured and created their own role plays to show what it would have been like for particular groups of people.
