What’s the Difference Between a Top-Loading System and a Bottom-Loading System? Tanker trucks are loaded either using a bottom or top loading system. These are two significant ways of loading liquid content in trucks in various industries. Choosing a loading system depends on the material to be stored and carried. We all know that the tank of a truck is segmented into different components. They are loaded with different types of material, primarily liquid. Let us understand how these compartments are filled using top or bottom loading systems. Bottom loading system As the name suggests, a bottom loading system is a way to load liquid material into the compartments of the tanks using bottom loading arms installed in the loading docks. Trucks park near the installation chambers. A bottom loading arm is connected to the inlet, and liquid materials are pumped in. A coupling system is used to fill each tank compartment continuously. The pressure of the fluid traveling from the pipes to a tank compartment depends on the bottom loading arm attached to the coupling section of the loading system. If a central coupling connects with multiple compartments of a tank, then the filling process can be simultaneous. Using such coupling systems, you can fill more than one compartment. It all depends on the bottom loading arms installed in the loading system. Top loading system As the name suggests, this loading system comprises a top-loading system. The compartments in the tanks get filled using the coupling system at the top. In this process, not much pressure is required as the normal flow of the liquid from the top will fill the compartments quickly. Usually, the tank compartments in a truck have openable utility holes to insert a top loading arm. In some cases, pressure is maintained when liquid gases are filled in the compartments of a truck. A robust coupling system is required to properly move the liquid from the storage to the tank compartment. Which one to choose?
