I DIDN’T STUDY ARCHITECTURE TO BECOME AN ARCHITECT. I SELECTED A DESIGN FIELD BECAUSE I WANTED TO LEARN DESIGN THINKING AND CRITICAL THINKING. ARCHITECTURE TAUGHT ME HOW TO THINK BETTER, THAT WE CAN HAVE BETTER SOLUTIONS, AND THAT MULTIPLE SOLUTIONS ARE CORRECT.” —JIA LIN, BArch’17

The World has Problems. Woodbury Students have Answers. We are Defined by Transdisciplinarity

JUAN HERNANDEZ BFA Film ’15

Attending high school in the San Fernando Valley, Juan immersed himself in theater and photography — and fell in love with the entertainment business. He chose to study film at Woodbury because it was the only 4-year program that would allow him to work with a camera starting on Day 1 (and it was only 20 minutes from home!) Find out why Juan is “ecstatic” in his current role building diversity behind the camera at Paramount Studios’ Office of Global Inclusion.

MY TIME AT WOODBURY ALLOWED ME TO LEARN EVERYTHING. I DIDN’T HAVE TO STICK TO WRITING, EDITING, OR PRODUCING.”

Transdisciplinarity is Woodbury’s approach that goes beyond the traditional disciplinary boundaries, integrating insights, methods, and theories from multiple disciplines to address complex problems. It involves collaboration and communication among students from
