WNHGA Woodbridge Winners: Summer Highlights & Triumphs

The WNHGA Woodbridge Winners continue to live up to their name this season, making impressive showings across a series of competitions, invitationals, and qualifiers. Here’s a round-up of the team’s outstanding efforts and accomplishments.

May 29–30: Tournament of Champions Qualifier

Despite the heat, the WNHGA TOC qualifier at Woodbridge was a huge success, thanks to the quick coordination of the Pro Shop staff—special thanks to Teresa, Zach, Carson, and John! Congratulations to all the competitors, including Kathy Cockayne, Melissa Krebill, Patty Kooyman, Sharon Morgan, and Nancy Little, for braving the high temps.

Woodbridge will proudly be represented by four competitors at the WNHGA Tournament of Champions on Aug 28:

• Christy Frank – TOC Champion

• Shannon Hagen – Flight 1 Champion

• Anne Weisenberg – Flight 2 Champion

• Cindy Ciboch – Flight 3 Champion

June: Hosting & Competing at Woodbridge and Yolo Flyers

In early June, Woodbridge hosted a spirited match, with Nicole setting the tone and Meg McKenzie leading the hospitality efforts. Carol Pierovich added her signature enthusiasm, and our volunteer markers—Sharon Ceresa, Ginny Pelton, and Sharon Morgan—helped the event run seamlessly.

On the course:

• Christy Frank and Kathy Cockayne added to Woodbridge’s point lead

• Shannon Hagen and Cindy Ciboch continued their winning streak

• Rhonda Craig and Jennie Fuller each contributed valuable points

• Anne Weisenberg and Patty Kooyman rounded out the scoring with solid play

At Yolo Flyers, Shannon Hagen boosted her par total, while Cindy Ciboch and Melissa Krebill strategically added more points to the team’s overall performance. The season’s momentum was building—and the best was yet to come.

WNHGA Invitationals: Creativity, Camaraderie & Competition

Woodbridge was well represented in Invitationals across the region this summer:

• “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”: Cindy Ciboch secured a 2nd place finish

• Elk Grove Invitational: Cindy followed up with a 3rd place in her flight

• Brookside Invitational: Woodbridge showed up in force to support Nancy Little, who placed 3rd in her flight. Teammates included Rhonda Craig, Shannon Hagen, Melissa Krebill, Kathy Cockayne, Cindy Ciboch, and Carol Pierovich

• North Ridge Invitational: “Boot Scootin’ Bogey” was the theme, and the Woodbridge ladies brought both the flair and the finesse. Thanks to Rhonda Craig’s creative costumes, the team stood out—on and off the course.

Highlights included:

• Shannon Hagen – Showcased powerful drives

• Nancy Little – Put her short game to work with precision putting

• Cindy Ciboch – Took home the accuracy award with a drive just 3.5 inches from the fairway marker!

• Cathy Maciel – Secured a 3rd place finish in her flight

And yes—the whole team can now proudly say they’ve mastered the Boot Scootin’ Boogie!

A Victory at Rancho Murieta!

In a thrilling display of teamwork and skill, the WNHGA Woodbridge Winners triumphed at Rancho Murieta! Battling sand traps, heat, and even rattlesnakes, the ladies emerged victorious on the challenging course.

Match Recap:

Flight 1 – Christy Frank and Rhonda Craig led the charge, earning 6 points

Flight 2 – Shannon Hagen and Kathy Cockayne added 5.5 points

Flight 3 – Jennie Fuller and Nancy Little topped it off with 6.5 points

Captains Flight – Cathy Maciel and Melissa Krebill anchored the team as they now prepare for the final match at Valley Hi
