Copenhagen is a vibrant and exciting city featuring a wide spectrum of cultural and sporting activities for you to enjoy. Wonderful Copenhagen has put together the most important events for 2010 in this handy calendar. This is where you’ll find inspiration to make the most of the city and all it has to offer. Depeche Mode (Malmö)


January 25 Depeche Mode is one of the longest-lived, most successful and influential bands to have emerged from the New Romantic and New Wave era. On their world tour 2009-2010 they are stopping by Malmö.

13 th Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique 2010


January 27 - 28


The Northern leg of the famous rally alternates between Oslo and Copenhagen as starting cities, and in 2010 Copenhagen will host the event. World famous amusement park Tivoli – Denmark’s most visited attraction – will make a special January opening in order to host the Copenhagen start of the 13th Rallye MonteCarlo Historique.

Every Wednesday Classical concert every Wednesday at 5 pm. From February–April and September–November.

6-Days of Copenhagen


February 4 - 9 The 48th 6-Days of Copenhagen takes place in the Ballerup Super Arena from 4 - 9 February 2010. One of the most popular sports events in town with participation by the best track cyclists from ten nations. The Arena is easy to reach by car and by public transportation.

Copenhagen Fashion Festival


February 10 - 14 Alongside one of Europe’s largest fashion fairs, Copenhagen Fashion Festival, a wide range of consumer related fashion events are available to the public. Copenhagen Fashion Festival offers competitions, parties, fashion lounges, fashion on display, runway shows and much more.



Flea market at Bella Center


February 20 - 21 Copenhagen’s Bella Center attracts bargain hunters from all over the country for this annual flea market which is Scandinavia’s largest. Visitors can browse through second-hand books, suits, designer vintage clothing, furniture, ceramics and much more.



Puppet Junior

festivals March 3 - 6 Takes place in four culture centres in Copenhagen. The festival will be a travelling outdoor marketplace with performances and workshops followed by indoor performances. The aim of the festival is to promote national as well as international puppetry of high quality to the city’s children, youngsters and their families.

Floor Wars Breakdance Battle

Street ART

March 20 Floor Wars is the biggest breakdance event in Scandinavia, and one of the most well-renowned breakdance events in Europe. The event at Vega in Copenhagen consists of a competition in acrobatic, furious dancing performed by the elite of the international breakdance scene.

UCI Track Cycling World Championships


March 24 - 28 Part of UCI Bike City Copenhagen The best track riders in the world at Ballerup Super Arena. One of the biggest sports events in Denmark this year. Denmark, UK and Australia are among the favorites to go all the way. One of the highlight events will be the 4000 meter team pursuit final.



The little mermaid travels to China


April Denmark’s most famous sculpture, the Little Mermaid, is travelling to China to be part of the Danish pavilion at EXPO 2010. To celebrate her trip there will be farewell festivities. Check for the date and schedule.

HM Queen Margrethe II of Denmark - 70th birthday celebration


April 16 Celebration at Amalienborg Palace Square and festive events held around the city.


FILM April 15 - 25 New visions and bold cinematic expressions are in focus when Denmark’s biggest film festival CPH PIX, presents its second edition in Copenhagen. A 10-day celebration of films from all over the world in all genres mixed with concerts, special events, local and international filmmakers.



Cop3nhag3n ROBOT


April 30 - May 2 The biggest eSport event in Denmark kicks off for the second time. Lots of gaming activities, competitions, Counter Strike Championship, gadget exhibition and much more. Join in and meet some of the best gamers in the world. Cop3nhag3n ROBOT takes place in Tivoli, Denmark’s most visited amusement park.



Wednesdays in May–August In May at 5 pm, in June at 4 pm, in July at 5.30 pm and in August at 5 pm. Classical concerts in one of the following castle churches: Frederiksberg Castle Church, Kronborg Castle Church (Helsingør), Fredensborg Castle Church and Christiansborg Castle Church.

Copenhagen Beer Festival 2010


May 6 - 8 Copenhagen Beer Festival is one of the top beer festivals in Europe where you can taste and enjoy more than 1,000 different beers. In 2010 we expect to present high quality beers from 200 different breweries in Europe, US and Canada.



CPH ADD Copenhagen Architecture+Design Days


May 6 - 9 Copenhagen Architecture + Design Days celebrates the finest of modern Architecture and Design. Experience the hot spots of Copenhagen, now booming with remarkable buildings designed by some of the world’s most renowned architects.

UCI BMX Supercross World Cup


May 7 - 8 Part of UCI Bike City Copenhagen. The world’s best riders compete at one of the best BMX Supercross tracks in the world. With 8 riders going head-to-head on a highly technical track, the event offers BMX racing in a very exciting and spectacular format, tailor-made for the very best BMX athletes in the world.

Copenhagen Carnival


May 21 - 23 Experience fantastic costumes, samba dancing and lots of colourful acts when the Copenhagen Carnival hits the streets.



Copenhagen Marathon


May 23 Experience the scenic city of Copenhagen at the annual marathon event. Around 13,000 runners participate in one of the world’s fastest growing marathon events. The course is traffic-free and spectator friendly and offers numerous sights and landmarks on the way.

May 29 The concert takes place in PARKEN.

Sjælsø Rundt Cycling Event


May 30 One of the biggest and oldest cycling events in Denmark is Sjælsø Rundt which takes place north of Copenhagen. This year is the 40th time cycling fans can participate in the event by choosing between three different courses.



Copenhagen Distortion – Copenhagen’s streetlife & nightlife festival


June 2 - 6 Distortion is a leading force within Copenhagen’s party, street, fashion and music culture. It is a five day and night-long mobile feast, where local and international icons of street & club culture are invited to host one party each. The result is Copenhagen’s most vibrant and impulsive festival.

Copenhagen Live – Rammstein

Copenhagen finally gets its own rock festival including the biggest and most hard-hitting names on rock scene right now. On June 2, 10-øren at Amager Beach Park is transformed into a large festival area, where 20,000 people can look forward to experiencing some of the world’s best live acts.

Danish Speedway Grand Prix


June 5 The biggest and most exciting motorsport event in Scandinavia, 2½ hours packed with action and excitement. It takes place in PARKEN stadium.



RC44 Sailing – the Formula 1 in sailing


June 8 - 13 The RC44 boats compete in the waters outside Copenhagen. Experience the world´s best sailors including the Dane Martin Kirketerp onboard the Dutch boat ”No Way back”.

2010 FIFA World Cup at City Hall Square


June 11 – July 11 Experience true football fever and view all of the Danish national football games broadcast live from South Africa on the big screen. Visit the website for exact dates.

2010 Øresund Bridge Run


June 12 The Øresund region celebrates its 10th Anniversary. The Øresund Bridge will be the perfect scene for the ”Bridge Run’s” 10th anniversary event – a unique 21.1 km run attracting 30,000 runners. The start takes place at Kastrup Strandpark and the runners reach the finish line in the Ribersborg area in Malmö.



Copenhagen Athletics Games


June (TBC) The Copenhagen Athletics Games is set to give athletes and spectators an unforgettable and unique experience at the newly renovated Østerbro Stadium.

Around Sealand Boat Race


June 25 - 27 The Around Sealand regatta can be quite a challenge – even to the experienced sailor. More than 700 yachts usually participate in the regatta. With departure from Elsinore, the race has two possible courses around Sealand depending on the wind conditions.

Copenhagen Pro, Skateboard competition


June 25 - 27 Cph Pro presents the first European Skateboard competition for pro skaters. The significant event will attract 50 of Americas and Europe’s best pros. All will be competing for a major cash purse at the renowned Copenhagen Skatepark.



International Summer Entertainment


July-August Relax in Denmark’s historic theatre and enjoy this Broadway success, performed in English by professional Copenhagen-based actors. “SHERLOCK’S LAST CASE” by Charles Marowitz at The Royal Court Theatre (Christiansborg). &

Roskilde Festival


July 1 - 4 Denmark’s Woodstock. Northern Europe’s biggest rock festival with almost 100,000 party people from all over the world.

Copenhagen Jazz Festival


July 2 - 11 All Copenhagen vibrates with funky, traditional, modern, New Orleans, world music – all kinds of jazz. Indoor and outdoor venues throughout the city.



Tivoli Cup

SPORT July 12 - 16 Young footballers from around the world will meet for the 20th time at Hillerød Stadium for the Copenhagen Tivoli Cup. Experience the multi-faceted world of football - joy, fascination, excitement, challenges and victory. See teamwork and individualism, fun and competition.

Trailerpark Festival


July 30 - August 1 TRAILERPARK Festival is a three-day Copenhagenbased music and arts festival organized and produced by creative collective ArtRebels. A perfect blend of music, art, creativity and love. Proceeds go to their non-profit oranization HeartRebels.

e-Boks Danish Open WTA Tour 2010


July 31 - August 8 Experience Caroline Wozniacki on home court in Farum Arena. The first edition of the tennis tournament e-Boks Danish Open, an International-level tournament on the 2010 WTA Tour. It will take place on indoor hard courts in Farum, Denmark from July 31 to August 8, 2010.



Stella Polaris

MUSIC August 1 In the first weekend of August, one of the most popular traditions of the Copenhagen summer months unfolds in the picturesque park Østre Anlæg: Stella Polaris, the biggest outdoor chill out event in Denmark. It is completely free and attracts a crowd of all types and ages.

Cultural Harbour Festival


August 6 - 8 The Cultural Harbour means three days of dance, music, theatre, artistry and a variety of sports events, in the harbour as well as on the quay. This year the festival proudly presents 80 activities.

Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix


August 7 - 8 Classic cars in competition. Takes place in the surroundings of the largest park in Copenhagen – Fælledparken. Classic car exhibition and entertainment for all enthusiasts.



Tour de Denmark Finish


August 8

Denmark’s biggest annual sports event with more than half a million cycling fans along the Danish roads. This year, the event finishes in Rudersdal north of Copenhagen, on top of Geels Hill. The final laps of the day will be on the 2011 UCI Road World Championship course. Expect to see some Tour de France participants in the peloton.

Copenhagen Pride


August 11 - 15 Copenhagen Pride is an annual event to celebrate the gay, lesbian and bisexual community and their diversity. The highlight of the Copenhagen Pride is always the Annual Gay Pride Parade, moving through the center of Copenhagen.

Copenhagen Fashion Festival


August 11 - 15 Alongside one of Europe’s largest fashion fairs, Copenhagen Fashion Festival, a wide range of consumer related fashion events are presented to the public. Copenhagen Fashion Festival includes competitions, parties, fashion lounges, fashion on display, shows and much more.



Denmark-Germany football


August 11 Denmark–Germany (friendly match) football at PARKEN.

Crafts Fair at Copenhagen’s Frue Plads


August 12 - 14 The Crafts Fair at Copenhagen’s Frue Plads is an annual event, with 140 participants showcasing ceramics, gold and silver jewellery and unique clothing. It is arranged by the Danish Arts and Crafts Association.

Garden Living Fair, Frederiksborg Castle


August 13 - 15 At Garden Living Fair in the beautiful Frederiksborg Castle park, exhibitors from Denmark and abroad present the very best of flowers, gardening, food and drink. Special activities for children.



Challenge Copenhagen – Ironman


August 15 Swim 3.8 km/bike 180 km/run 42 km. With the location in one of Europe’s beautiful capitals both athletes and spectators can expect a magnificent and unique irondistance triathlon. The combination of historic metropolis and idyllic countryside make this an exceptional experience, never before seen in an iron-distance triathlon.


MUSIC August 16 - 22 The Nordic Electronic Music Festival with top Danish and international acts. A week of live electronic music and world class dj’s spread across the city from nightclubs to public spaces like churches and parks. Don’t miss it.

The Malmö Festival (Sweden)


August 20 - 27 Few festivals are as popular, well attended and well reputed as the Malmö Festival, with about 1.5 visitors over eight days. The festival offers more than 250 live music performances and concerts, a wide range of international delicacies, cultural events, an amusement park and handicrafts for sale.


AUGUST / September

Copenhagen Cooking


August 20 - 29 Copenhagen will be alive and cooking with everything the Nordic cuisine has to offer. Visit large food expos, learn how to cook like a pro, or eat at some of the best Michelin starred restaurants at a reduced price. It’s all there, and it’s open to the public.

GAM3 Street Basket finals


August 28 The biggest street basket event in Scandinavia with 145 teams and a total of 600 players. The event takes place on the City Hall Square and offers lots of action all day long. Free admission.

Swim around the Parliament Christiansborg


August 28 Annual swimming competition in the canals of Copenhagen. Not many European capitals can boast that the water around their houses of parliament is clean enough to hold swimming competitions – but Copenhagen can! Come and join a truly memorable experience.


AUGUST / September

Zulu Comedy Festival


August 28 – September 5 Denmark’s only comedy festival. The program presents a broad variation of comedy from stand-up, storytelling, to movie premieres. There are more than 65 shows and 100 performing artists. The Shows are in Danish and English.

CSC Copenhagen Cycling


August 29 Part of UCI Bike City Copenhagen Copenhagen’s biggest cycling event. More than 1,000 cyclists will participate in different cycling events during the day. Also, the Danish elite will race around the Parliament – action packed and spectator friendly. Free admission.

DHL Stafetten


August 30 - September 3 The DHL relay race is the world’s biggest running event and a major success with more than 130,000 participants.

Copenhagen Malmö BMX Race


September The best Scandinavian BMX riders compete with a number of top European riders. Preliminary rounds in Malmö on Saturday and finals in Copenhagen on Sunday at the UCI World Cup track. Free admission.

Golden Days Festival


September 3 – 26 Enjoy the Golden Days Festival theme of “Dangerous Liaisons” and experience 1800s Copenhagen as the scene of sea battles and treachery, adventurousness and the Enlightenment with masked balls and plague parades. The festival offers a wide range of events and exhibitions.



Kopenhagen Contemporary


September 3 - 5 The contemporary art scene in Copenhagen has reached a strong international position. Visit the best galleries, museums and exhibition spaces. Events include exhibition openings, guided tours, artist talks, debates and much more.

Buster, Film Festival for Children and Youth


September 10 - 20 BUSTER is the annual international film festival for children and youth. The festival focuses on a high level of artistic, ethical and quality entertainment feature films, documentary and short films for young people aged 3-19, subjects and film screenings combined with workshops like art, dance, opera, theatre, sport and climate.

Art Copenhagen - The Nordic Art Fair


September 17 - 19 Art Copenhagen The Nordic Art Fair proudly presents leading galleries from the Nordic countries. Art Copenhagen is the biggest art fair in the Scandinavia and focusing on contemporary and modern art. The fair is annually attended by art collectors, art dealers, artists, curators, art critics and art lovers from all over Europe.



Copenhagen Open Karate Championship


October 2 - 3 More than 500 karate athletes from around the world participate at Denmark´s biggest karate event. Action, entertainment and world class karate all weekend.

10:10:10 The Culture Yard opening


October 10 10:10:10 - The grand opening of Kulturværftet, the Culture Yard in Elsinore’s old shipyard area. The opening heralds the start of a large-scale cultural initiative and introduces spectacular new architecture on one of the most unique sites in Denmark – neighbouring the world heritage castle, Kronborg.

Night of Culture


October 15 Annual event as a fun run-up to the Danish schools’ autumn holidays in October. One badge gives access to a great number of cultural activities and a new way of seeing the city by night. From 6 pm to midnight.



Halloween in Tivoli


October 15 - 24 Witches and spooks, fun and scary thrills. The old amusement park opens its gates in October to offer entertainment for young and old.

Autumn Mid Term School Vacation


October 18 - 22 Many activities especially set up to entertain children are placed in museums around the city.


Fair / MUSIC October 27 - 31 Womex is the most important international professional market of world music of every kind. Audiences can enjoy approx. 50 concerts over five evenings. The class acts of genres such as roots, ethnic, folk, traditional and world music guarantees vibrant evenings in Copenhagen.




MUSIC November Sensation 2010 will transform PARKEN into a sea of sensational sound from the world’s best DJs accompanied by a spectacular stage show. At least 25,000 happy people are expected to attend -- all dressed in white -- giving their all towards making this a uniquely outstanding experience. &

CPH:DOX, Copenhagen Film Festival


November 6 – 15 Experience the best documentary films at CPH:DOX. Again this year the festival will offer concerts, workshops, parties, art exhibitions and more all over town.

Book Fair in Forum


November 12 - 14 The annual book fair in Copenhagen features both Danish and international authors. Enjoy debates, discussions and book signings at this popular event.



Christmas Market in Tivoli


November 15 – December 30 Tivoli will open its doors for Christmas in Tivoli, which over the years has become a firm family tradition in the heart of Copenhagen. A family tradition offering masses of Christmas trees, presents, elves, stalls and magic.

Christmas Tree Lighting


November 28 Lighting ceremony of the Xmas tree at 4 pm on the City Hall Square.

Every Wednesday Christmas–Wednesday Concerts at Vartov in Copenhagen.

City-tunnel in Malmö


December The opening of the Malmö City Tunnel. The City Tunnel is one of Sweden’s largest infrastructure projects. In the weeks leading up to the opening of train service on 12 December, a number of activities will be held to inaugurate the City Tunnel. Find the official program on the website.

Copenhagen Masters 2010


December 27 - 29 Major badminton tournament with the world’s best players performing in Copenhagen. Falkonér Salen.



New Year’s celebration


December 31 Countdown at the City Hall Square at midnight.
