MEET OUR FOUNDER

ANNE FULDBY-OLSEN

ABOUT ANNE FULDBY-OLSEN:

Anne Fuldby-Olsen, the founder of Women of the Midwest, came to Executive Travel from Copenhagen, Denmark via Athens, Greece, in March 2012. Anne has spent more than 32 years in the travel industry, worked for two airlines at the beginning of her career and, after moving to Greece, she built a Destination Management Company. As a European travel expert, she enjoys designing beautiful tailor-made European tours. Since January 2015 Anne is leading Executive Travel’s groups and escorted tours Department with an intense passion and endless energy. Her extensive travel experiences around the world since her childhood, and her huge network of collaborators, grants her the ability to create unique signature journeys.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN:

The idea of Women of the Midwest arose when Anne realized that more than 65% of travelers joining an escorted tour are women. Along with Anne’s strong local network over the past 10 years (Anne spend half of her time in Lincoln, NE), and a handful of enthusiastic Nebraska friendsof-heart, Women of the Midwest was born in 2018 and the dream of offering journeys solely to women became true.

MEET THE TEAM

OUR AMBASSADORS:

Ann K. Bruntz, Women of the Midwest, Ambassador:

I am a farm & ranch woman with a yen for travel. My work and volunteer activities have allowed me the opportunity to travel around the USA and the world the past 25 years. I want to share a few of those favorite places with you. I am looking forward to sharing a little of the world with a touch of agriculture as we venture out around the world. There are still many places within the USA to explore and we will plan some small group adventures domestically too. My interests are beef, agriculture, reading, cooking, and making new friends. I look forward to exploring the world - near and far - with small groups of like-minded women.

Sally Dunham, Women of the Midwest, Ambassador:

Growing up in eastern Nebraska gave me a love of people and the amazing world God created. As a child, we didn’t travel much, but the family vacations we took, gave me a wanderlust to see more. Then as a teacher, I found that studying other countries, in addition to our own wonderful United States, only added to my interest. I could travel in the summer and found that sharing with my students when the new school year began, opened up a whole new world to them of other people and cultures, and also encouraged me to travel even more. Travel is so rewarding and I would like to invite you to share educational experiences with Women of the Midwest.

Barb Wallingford, Women of the Midwest, Ambassador:

I grew up in Lincoln in an amazing and wonderfully-large family. In 1981, I married Steve, and we have 3 incredible children and 6 grandchildren. Along with my faith, my family is the heart and soul of my life. As a teacher, I have taught children from many countries, and have been captivated by their stories of their countries. I have been fascinated by their culture’s uniqueness, yet in wonder at how similar we still are. In recent years, I began traveling more and I can’t seem to get enough … the more places I see, the more I want to go to new destinations! As an Ambassador of Women of the Midwest, I look forward to forging new friendships and memories with you through travel. I hope you will join me!

Lora Black, Women of the Midwest, Ambassador:

I’m a native Nebraskan and I grew up on a farm. I have wanted to travel since I was in grade school, and a fellow classmate got to show his viewmaster slides of Yellowstone to our class for show and tell! I was so envious. And, it took me pretty much a lifetime to begin my own journeys, and take my own slides! But, now I don’t want to stop! I have been on a mission trip to Honduras to build houses, France with Friendship Force, and have taken several European vacations traveling by myself. I have a sense of adventure and love to see the art, history and architecture I have only read about all my life. I love meeting new people, seeing new places, and making new friends. I’m an advocate for travel. Come. Join me.

Susan Hanson, Women of the Midwest, Ambassador:

I grew up in southwest Nebraska and, except for attending college, have lived on our family farm in that special place in “the middle of everywhere” all of my life. Family, teaching, quilting, and helping lead young people on musical tours through Europe are just a few of my life’s passions and experiences. Traveling with women to beautiful, historical destinations is so exciting, and I look forward to being a part of many new breathtaking adventures with them through Women of the Midwest.

Lisa Anderson, Women of the Midwest, Ambassador:

I am married to John (32 years) and have two grown children and one grandchild. I have lived in Omaha for 45+ years and consider this my forever home. I am self-employed and have two businesses, Anderson Signs Inc. and AJ’s Café Inc. In 2022, I took my first trip with Women of the Midwest to Iceland where I caught the traveling “bug!” I know my experiences as a traveler will greatly help me as I transition to this new endeavor. Motto: Travel! As much as you can. As far as you can. As long as you can. Life is not meant to be lived in one place!

Rhonda Wagner, Women of the Midwest, Ambassador:

I grew up in Dodge City, KS, and spent a year living in Adelaide, Australia, with my parents, the kangaroos, and wombats. That opened my eyes to the world of travel, different cultures, and different countries, and I was hooked. I have worked in the travel industry for forty years! I am married to my husband Terry; we have 6 grown children and 4 grandchildren. We enjoy all types of travel: domestic & international, cruising, and trains. Travel introduces new experiences every time; I’ve made new friends and wonderful memories. I hope you’ll join us for your next adventure!

Carol Ann Condon, Women of the Midwest, Ambassador:

Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, my heart and roots are in the Midwest. However, at an early age, I knew I wanted to travel and see the world. I joined the airlines and got the opportunity to do just that. I traveled a lot those first years, and had countless experiences and met many interesting people along the way. I’ve been married for 30 years and have two daughters in their twenties. I retired from the airlines after 26 years, some time ago. Since then, I’ve kept busy with various jobs and interests, but I’ve longed to reconnect with the world beyond my door. Now I have reached another chapter in my life and look forward to amazing journeys with Women of the Midwest!

Jennifer King, Women of the Midwest, Ambassador:

Hello, welcome! Living in Omaha, Nebraska, for the majority of my life, yet my passion for travel finds me away on adventures much of the time. I was a habitual solo traveler, conquering 47 of our states along with Mexico, Central America, and most of Europe, yet I knew I did not want to experience Iceland solo. Thankfully, I found Women of the Midwest. That trip to Iceland was so fabulous that it converted this solo traveler into a group traveler who has now visited not only Iceland but also Ireland, Jordan, and Egypt. I invite you to come and experience the magic of group travel on one of our epic journeys. Cheers!

Roni Thramer, Women of the Midwest, Ambassador:

After spending my first ten years in Texas, my family and I moved to Nebraska. I grew up in a large family in a small, vibrant town. I have always thought that the Midwest is a great place to live and raise a family. But, with my curiosity and sense of adventure, I wanted to see what the rest of the world had to offer. I got the opportunity to do so working as a flight attendant. After many years of working in this profession, I gave it up a few years back. But I am once again yearning to go out and explore, and share new experiences with others. I feel so blessed to have this opportunity through Women of the Midwest! If you, like me, want to see beautiful destinations, make new friends, and share unforgettable experiences, join me for an adventure of a lifetime!

Mary Kay Roth, Women of the Midwest, Ambassador:

I grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska, but took two career moves to work as a newspaper reporter in Florida and New York – before returning to my hometown for a job on the Journal Star. Mid-career I switched again to serve as director of Communications for Lincoln Public Schools until retirement a few years ago. These days I spend my time enjoying books and music and grandchildren – writing with the 5WomenMayhem bloggers – traveling the highways and byways of the world – and hiking as many wilderness trails as possible … always in search of sunrises and full moons.

I was born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 1993, I moved to Athens, Greece, where I married Tony. Living in a city with over five thousand years of history is not only fascinating but also very inspirational. I have spent more than 33 years in the travel industry, been blessed with traveling all my life, and visited more than 30 countries and, after moving to Greece, I built a Destination Management Company. Since March 2012, I have been a part of Executive Travel, and since January 2015, I have directed the Group Department, utilizing my extensive travel experiences. I am blessed with a worldwide network of collaborators, allowing me to create unique signature journeys.

Polly Welmaker, Women of the Midwest, Group Department - The Americas

I am the daughter of two successful entrepreneurs and grew up in our small family-owned travel agency. My love for the business grew, and I eventually became an Account Manager for the Pepsi-Cola account, overseeing a $100 million annual business. After a successful corporate career, I moved to Costa Rica, where I developed a passion for Central and South America. This led to extensive travels throughout Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Belize, Nicaragua, Panama, and Honduras, enriching my understanding of the diverse cultures and landscapes.

Later, I became a Shore Excursions Director, Public Speaker, and Cruise Director in China. My goal with Women of the Midwest is to offer enriching travel experiences that blend adventure with cultural immersion, helping clients create lifelong memories through exploration. I’m blessed to lead a talented staff, focusing on one thing: the happiest travelers on the planet.

Rebekah Lassen, Women of the Midwest, Marketing Associate:

I grew up in Austin, TX and moved to Nebraska in 2008 to attend Concordia University-Nebraska. Upon graduation, I married a Nebraska native. We have two children, a son (age 8) and a daughter (age 6). We enjoy spending time on our acreage north of Lincoln, gathering with friends, and watching our children enjoy a variety of activities throughout the year. In prior years, my family enjoyed 12+ years of cruise reunions to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Virgin Islands, and more. Most of our travel remains domestic these days, but as the children get older, I look forward to traveling more. I am excited to be back with Women of the Midwest / Executive Travel, working alongside a wonderful team, doing what I love!

Liset Garcia-Bates, Women of the Midwest, Advisor & Ticketing Agent:

I grew up in Los Angeles, moved to Ohio in my mid-twenties, and I now live in Northern Kentucky near Cincinnati with my husband. I enjoy the outdoors, and my hobbies include running, biking, going on hikes, and kayaking. I have two sons; my oldest is 30 years old, and my youngest is 25. I’ve been in the travel industry since my senior year in high school, and have been with Executive Travel for four years now. To say I love to travel is an understatement! I enjoy meeting people and learning about their cultures; we are all unique. I’ve been fortunate to have visited a few beautiful places in my life like Tahiti, Hawaii, Italy, France, and Spain, but that’s only the beginning. Come, join us - let’s explore the world together!

Angella Christianson, Women of the Midwest, Operations Administrator:

I was born in Dallas, TX, but as a child, I was raised in 5 different states. I married my husband in Colorado; his job relocated us to Nebraska, where we have raised our two adult children. I enjoy watching movies and any kind of sport events, emphasizing baseball and football. From 2006-2020 my family and I fulfilled a bucket list adventure by visiting every Major League Baseball stadium in the US and Canada. Recently, we traveled to Aruba, which was a fantastic trip, and we hope to return very soon. I can’t wait to start my new journey with Women of the Midwest / Executive Travel and assist our travelers and friends with their dream adventures.

2025 JOURNEYS

PRETTY PORTUGAL

Porto - Coimbra - Obidos - Lisbon with Women of the Midwest!

September 30 - October 11, 2025

Dear Women of the Midwest,

We are off to Portugal! Blessed with more than 500 miles of golden sandy beaches, vast cork forests, fairytale cobbled stoned villages, mild weather and holy miracles, soulful music, captivating cities, and warm-hearted people ...this country is just as sweet and fortified as its wine.

Portugal is a land with contrasting landscapes and home to some of Europe’s most opulent architecture. Once the doorstep to the Iberian Peninsula, the Celts, the Romans, the Visigoths, the Moors, and the Christians all left their mark for future generations to see. As we travel from Porto to Lisbon, we will experience many of these marks. And, as always, our journey includes the country’s signature delights: a Francesinha sandwich class in Porto, a visit to a Port wine cellar, a day on the Douro River to enjoy the finest wine, Ginjinha (cherry liqueur) tasting, Aveiro salt, and local creamy and crunchy pastries.

We will have fun with a filigree workshop session and visit a very special bobbin lace school to learn about a tradition that started prior to the 18th century. Make sure to leave room in your suitcase for your favorite azulejos tiles; these are just some of the beautiful souvenirs you would want to bring back home.

Lisbon is where we end our journey. A coastal seaport clamoring up steep hillsides with a scenic vista at every angle and known for its colorful cityscape. It is the second-oldest capital city on the continent (after Athens) and also where Europe begins. There are bright yellow vintage trams, Gothic cathedrals, faded pastel buildings, medieval village-like neighborhoods, and majestic monasteries. Lisbon is lively and serene yet with an echo of the melancholic, soulful Fado music never far away.

Whether you are a history buff, culture fan, food and wine lover, or simply seeking awe-inspiring natural beauty, Portugal will show you how to live life to its fullest!

Come, join me, solo or two-by-two - enjoy with girlfriends, or make new friends - even share a room with a new friend - we will introduce you ahead of time!

Sincerely,

September 30, 2025 - Tuesday

Traveling to Portugal

Our wonderful adventure begins as we take an overnight flight to Porto. Enjoy in-flight entertainment and meal service as you start your dream vacation.

October 1, 2025 - Wednesday

Porto

Welcome to Porto! Upon arrival, we meet our private tour guide and take a short drive to the city’s center. We will enjoy a panoramic orientation tour of a town so pretty that it is almost unreal. The secondlargest city in Portugal will welcome you with its picturesque charm of winding streets, steep staircases, azulejo-tiled buildings, and beautiful bridges. Lunch is served in our favorite local restaurant. Take a stroll along the Douro River this afternoon to prepare for a good night’s rest at our beautiful hotel, located right on the river. Dinner at the hotel before we take a good night’s rest. B (during flight) | L | D

October 2, 2025 - Thursday

Porto

After a rich breakfast, we head out to explore beautiful, mysterious, and captivating Porto. We will figure out what makes Porto such a remarkable and special city. One (of many!) neighborhoods you will fall in love with is the Ribeira World Heritage Historical Center, located on the south hillside of Porto. In 1809, when Napoleon’s troops invaded Porto, they marched to Ribeira in order to close the southern access to the city. The population panicked and ran to the old floating bridge; actually, just a set of small skiffs lashed at each other. It did not hold the weight and fell in parts, causing many casualties. At the Alminhas monument, the locals still place candles in memory of those who lost their lives. We will experience the Luis I Bridge, a double-deck metal arch bridge that spans the Douro River. The São Francisco church is known for its lavish Baroque interior with ornate and glorious

leaf carvings. This is one of the city’s most beautiful churches. Next door is the Palacio da Bolsa (the Stock Exchange Palace), a historic building, once part of the St. Francis Convent, founded in the 13th century. We will also visit Casa do Infante, the ancient customs house and the old residence of the Kings of Portugal’s senior officials. All goods that entered the Douro River, especially those from Venice and Northern Europe, were stored here. On the northern side of the Douro River is the City of Ribeira, and on the southern side is the Vila Nova de Gaia, where we will find the world-famous port houses and make a stop to sip and delight in the world’s most famous fortified wine. Then, a hearty lunch awaits! Together with our chef, we will create a true Porto specialty: the Francesinha sandwich. We will enjoy the result with a chilled beverage, dessert, and coffee. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

October 3, 2025 - Friday

Guimarães

After an enjoyable breakfast, our first experience today is a filigree workshop. The production started in the 8th century with the arrival of Arab migrants, who brought this special technique and beautiful patterns. With time, the peninsula began to produce different filigree patterns and, while in Spain, the filigree jewelry-making tradition became less relevant, in Portugal, it was developed and perfected. You will learn the techniques and, at the end of the workshop, create your own little filigree gem. Free time for lunch before we take a short one-hour drive to the city of Guimarães, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, considered the cradle and birthplace of the Portuguese nation. Guimarães is known for its well-preserved medieval buildings and the 10th-century Guimarães Castle with sweeping city views. We will stroll this enchanting town to see the numerous historical sites, including the convent of Santa Clara, which today functions as the town hall. Pottery is one of the most interesting arts in the city’s long tradition of purely rustic craft

and has existed since the 13th century. Also, what most people don’t know, is that the Guimarães region is considered one of the most luxurious manufactureres of linens. We return to Porto in the afternoon to enjoy dinner and an evening at leisure. B | D

October 4, 2025 - Saturday

Douro River Cruise

We enjoy breakfast and head for a relaxing day on the Douro River. Discover the Port wine region and the beautiful and graceful sceneries. The Douro, known as the first wine region to be demarcated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is a region where time stands still and where nature predominates in its pure state. We will cross the two dams of Douro, Crestuma-Lever and Carrapatelo, and for those who have never experienced it, this is undoubtedly exciting times. A relaxed lunch is served on board. Once we disembark, our motorcoach will take us to a local winery for some great tastings. We return to Porto in the late afternoon to enjoy a relaxed evening at leisure. B | L

October 5, 2025 - Sunday Aveiro, Coimbra

Our journey continues southbound. We drive to Aveiro, also nicknamed “Portuguese Venice,” distinguished by its network of canals with colorful boats, the “moliceiros,” set along the Ria de Aveiro lagoon. We will embark on our private “moliceiro” to explore the canals and see the picturesque fishermen’s houses. Aveiro is also strong in salt, and we will learn about the salt harvesting traditions and the region’s strong connection to the sea. An educational tour through Aveiro’s salt ponds will provide you with the history, traditions, and secrets behind this ancient activity. Free time for lunch before we drive to Coimbra. Prior to arriving at our unique accommodation, we will take a tour of Coimbra and its university, the oldest in Portugal and one of the oldest in the world, built on the grounds of a former palace famed for its baroque library and its 18th-century bell tower. Coimbra is the former

capital and home to a preserved medieval old-town that, to our benefit, isn’t overrun by tourists. Dinner is served at the hotel tonight.

October 6, 2025 - Monday Fátima, Tomar, Nazaré, Alcobaça, Óbidos After a delicious breakfast, we continue our exciting journey. First stop: Fátima, a central Portuguese town home to the Sanctuary of Fátima, a Catholic pilgrimage site. The Capelinha das Aparições marks the spot where the Virgin Mary allegedly appeared in 1917. We will also visit the Basílica de Nossa Senhora do Rosário with its golden angels. From Fátima, we continue a short half-hour drive to Tomar. A sleepy town at first glance, but don’t let that fool you; Tomar is incredibly pretty. We will stop in the middle of the town square to snap pictures of every corner, including the beautifully tiled pavement. Next, we take a short walk uphill to the Tomar Castle and Convent of Christ, the area’s shining jewels. Do you remember the religious, military order mentioned in the Da Vinci Code? Dan Brown fans and history buffs interested in the Knights Templar can add to their fun by searching for Templar secrets when visiting Tomar. It’s time for a seaside break! We drive to Nazaré for a leisurely late lunch and - if you like - dip your toes in the Atlantic Ocean. On our way to Óbidos, we will stop to admire the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Alcobaça Monastery. We will spend the night on the outskirts of the medieval town of Óbidos. Cobbled streets, steep staircases winding up to the ramparts from where you can gaze across a countryside of windmills and vineyards, and white-washed houses draped in bougainvillea. A yummy Ginjinha (cherry liqueur) tasting will make sure we sleep tight. B | T | D

October 7, 2025 - Tuesday Peniche, Sintra, Lisbon Today’s route leads to our final destination, Lisbon, where we will spend our last four

days. On the way, we will stop at one of Portugal’s largest traditional fishing ports, Peniche. In addition to fishing, Peniche is known for the art of bobbin lacework, performed by women while men are at sea. A visit to a bobbin lace school is one of the highlights of this trip. A pair of hands dexterously passes back and forth, crisscrossing cotton bobbins so quickly that it is hard for an onlooker to discern what is going on. As the process continues, a beautiful piece of delicate white lace starts to appear. Watch the nimble (and chatty) ladies in action as they organize the “chaos” of their bobbins to produce exquisite lace. The handcraft of bobbin lacemaking was once a common sight in Portugal, and though rarer now, it remains of the country’s finest traditions. Next stop is in Sintra, one of the world’s most alluring towns. Enchanting palaces, historical fortifications, and enigmatic pathways occupy the hilltop and slope of this town. We will visit the National Palace, which, for more than 1,000 years, has presided over the town center. Notable for its white facade, conical chimneys, and intricately tiled chapel, this house-museum is one of Portugal’s bestpreserved medieval royal residences. Free time for lunch before we arrive in Lisbon, a city with a history spanning 2,000 years. Check in to our centrally located hotel and enjoy the rest of the day in the Portuguese capital at your own pace. We will meet up for dinner! B | D

October 8, 2025 - Wednesday

Lisbon

After a relaxed breakfast, we are off on a fullday tour to explore the sights and sounds of Lisbon. We will visit famous landmarks such as Rossio Square, the Baixa quarter’s main squares, the grand Avenida da Liberdade, and Pombal Square, and stop for pictures of Belem Tower and the Monument of the Discoverers. Also, visit Jeronimos Monastery with the tomb of Vasco da Gama. Last, but not least, we will visit one of our favorite museums, the Tile (Azulejos) Museum. We will enjoy the museum’s expansive collection.

The building is housed in a former convent. Delicious, creamy, cinnamon-dusted egg tart pastry “pastel de belém” is enjoyed along the tour, and time for a leisurely lunch is built into today’s program. Dinner at the hotel before we call it a day. B | T | D

October 9, 2025 - Thursday

Lisbon

Enjoy breakfast at your own pace before we meet to take a fun tuk-tuk ride through one of the historic neighborhoods of Lisbon. While the tuk-tuk is not a traditional means of transport in Lisbon, or Portugal for that matter, it is a very efficient vehicle for getting around the steep and narrow streets. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Stroll the cobblestone alleys, visit some of Lisbon’s new “niche museums,” explore the fashionable Bairro Alto and Chiado districts, or simply “shop untill you drop.” B | T

October 10, 2025 - Friday

Lisbon

Today is yours to enjoy and explore Lisbon. A traditional Fado show accompanies our farewell dinner. Fado is the musical expression of the Portuguese people, a melancholy set to a melody. The first fado singers, or “fadistas,” were often the wives of fishermen who may or may not return from sea. We couldn’t think of a more beautiful way to end our tour! B | D

October 11, 2025 - Saturday

Traveling home

All too soon, your vacation has ended. Transfer to Lisbon airport in plenty of time to check in for our flight and to clear security. Enjoy some last-minute shopping at the dutyfree stores before boarding and flying west across The Atlantic Ocean back to the United States. B | Meals during flights

ITALIAN AUTUMN ODYSSEY

Rome - Tuscany - Florence - Venice

with Women of the Midwest

October 1-12, 2025

Dear Women of the Midwest,

Imagine an Italian autumn odyssey: Piazzas, Gondolas, the Tuscan hillsides, fresh vegetables, gelato, beautiful days ... I’m Rhonda Wagner, and I invite you along on a tour of Italy this October! Give yourself the gift of travel and immerse yourself in the Italian way of life. Join me and go back in time to where art and culture began - the birthplace of the Renaissance! Florence! That is day five of our tour, but first, let me tell you how our adventure begins … We start our journey by arriving in Rome for a 3-night stay, where we will follow the path of the ancient Romans. You will have the opportunity to try making fresh pasta and tiramisu from secret recipes passed on for generations! We will tour the Eternal City, walk, eat, and visit the famous Vatican Museums. You will see Michelangelo’s Pieta, housed in St. Peter’s Basilica, and we will make our way to the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo took four years to paint the frescoed ceiling.

Up next is the Tuscan region. The revered patron saint of animals and founder of the Franciscan order, Saint Francis of Assisi’s birthplace will be explored, and we will spend four nights in the heart of Tuscany amidst olive groves and vineyards, providing us with many tasting opportunities!

Located a short drive away is Florence, the home of the Renaissance, which started here in the early 15th century. Shop the famous leather, Florentine paper, jewelry, and handmade ceramic goods that Florence is renowned for. Take time to “slow down,” grab a gelato, and just sit outside and watch the world pass by!

Lastly, we are on to the Queen of the Adriatic, Venice, the floating city. Walking tours take us to the legendary Piazza San Marco, St. Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, and the Rialto Bridge. A gondola ride is included, as is a visit to the islands of Murano, home of glassworks, and Burano, home of handmade lace.

Reserve your spot now for this fabulous trip to Italy.

Rhonda Wagner, Ambassador, Women of the Midwest

After breakfast, we will take a short drive to Florence. We begin our visit with a guided walking tour of the Cradle of Renaissance to admire the majestic Duomo built in 1296, Giotto’s Bell Tower, and the Baptistery with its renowned “Gates of Paradise” doors. We will follow the medieval streets to Florence’s most striking square: Piazza della Signoria, an open-air museum. Then, we head to the Academy Gallery for a visit and to take a closer look at the breathtaking statue of David! You will have free time in the afternoon to shop and discover the city’s beauties. Stroll down the cobblestoned lanes, through majestic squares, and across ancient bridges. Enjoy the best arts and crafts, florentine paper (do not miss Riccardo Luci’s beautiful shop!), leather goods, and world-class museums! Return to our villa in the late afternoon/early evening to relax and unwind. B

October 8, 2025 - Wednesday

Tuscany

We are in Tuscany, the area of some of the most outstanding wines in the world, and it’s time to sniff, sip, and taste. A local winemaker will take us on a passage of grape-to-bottle as we enjoy a selection of Chianti Classico and Super Tuscans. This afternoon, we will join Mamma Paola at our villa to learn the basics of traditional Italian pizza. We start with an introduction to the story of pizza and dough preparations, followed by fun pizza-making. B | T | C | D

October 9, 2025 - Thursday

Venice

We say a fond “arrivederci” to Tuscany as we head north to Venice. After approximately three hours of driving, we arrive at the watery wonderland of islands seemingly laced together by delicate bridges, one of the most romantic cities in the world, but also a city where getting lost is a “must” and half the enjoyment. This is Venice! Our water taxi will take us to our hotel to check in before we head out for a walking tour, including the famous Piazza San Marco, the impressive St. Mark’s Basilica, and the Doge’s Palace, the official residence of Venetian rulers in the Middle Ages. Discover the mysterious labyrinth of alleys and waterways, the clock tower, the Rialto Bridge, and the mystique of the Palace of Prisons and the Bridge of Sighs. The walking tour ends with a fun 30-minute gondola ride. B

October 10, 2025 - Friday

Murano - Burano

We will enjoy a half-day excursion to Murano and Burano Islands to discover the traditions and most unique places in the Venetian lagoon. The first stop is at Murano, the homeland of glass. The old Murano glassworks guard secrets handed down from generation to generation. You will have the opportunity to purchase original and beautiful works of glass art with the certainty that they will be authentic pieces! We continue to the island of Burano to stroll the picturesque streets of

brightly colored houses and discover the masterpieces of lace made by experts. The lace houses are true gems, and a visit to those is an unforgettable experience. We head back to Venice to enjoy lunch at leisure, and the remainder of the day is yours to “get lost” and explore the labyrinth of narrow alleys, countless bridges, and small squares! B

October

11,

2025 - Saturday Venice

Today is yours to explore the city of Venice or join an optional mask-painting workshop class, offering insight into an important Venetian craft (sign up for this during your journey in Italy). Under the guidance of a resident artist, you’ll choose a mask from more than 50 different styles and decorate it according to traditional techniques. While you work, your guide tells stories of masks’ importance and function in Venetian society. Tonight, we will enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. B | D

Dear Women of the Midwest,

Join me on a magical journey to a mystical island, Iceland!

ICELAND

Land of Ice & Fire! with Women of the Midwest!

October 4-11, 2025

Just a bit smaller than Kentucky, it’s a thrilling destination for nature enthusiasts like me (the photo below is from my first trip to Iceland), outdoor lovers, and those just seeking the unexpected, set in soul-stirring scenery. You will also find the world’s most northern capital city with the friendliest people you will ever encounter, making this trip even more joyful.

Our journey goes to an island anchored near the top of the globe, with a raw beauty sculpted by its volcanic nature. Rumbling icecovered volcanoes, black sandy beaches, gigantic glaciers silently gnawing away at mountains, crystal clear lagoons speckled with glistening icebergs, gurgling hot springs, explosive geysers, fields punctuated with stoic Viking horses and long-haired sheep, thunderous waterfalls adorned with absurdly perfect rainbows, and ever-changing light. Wonders only experienced in Iceland!

We will listen to the stories of the Northern Gods and Goddesses, learn about Norse mythology, taste delicious and original local products, take an unforgettable journey into the heart of a glacier and a man-made ice cave, and have the opportunity to swim in the Blue Lagoon.

And Icelandic wool is something you will want to take a closer look at. It contains two types of hair that serve as a natural barrier to wet and cold weather. The outer layer comprises coarse, long hair, which Icelanders call “tog.” The tough and fleecy tog is a water-resistant layer. Consider taking some home with you; let’s have fun shopping for wool!

What an adventure, what an awe-inspiring destination! Follow your instinct and join me, solo or two-by-two. Let’s explore this gorgeous island.

Sincerely yours,

October 4, 2025 - Saturday

Traveling to Iceland

Iceland is a place you must see to believe! Our adventure begins with an overnight flight to Reykjavik. Enjoy in-flight entertainment and meal service as you travel to this very special destination.

October 5, 2025 - Sunday Reykjavik

Upon our early arrival at Reykjavik airport, we will meet our English-speaking tour guide, who will follow us throughout our journey. We are off on a short drive to Reykjavik to be introduced to this cute town. We will make our way to Hallgrimskirkia, a Lutheran church and one of the highest structures in Iceland. The elevator will take us to the top to get the best views of the world’s most northern capital. Soak in the colorful houses, blue waters, and mountains in the distance. Next, we will stroll at our own pace down the bustling shopping street Laugavegur and make a stop for lunch at a local restaurant. We will continue our walking tour along the lovely city and pass by Lake Tjörnin before going to the Harpa Concert Hall by the water. Our tour finishes by visiting the Sólfarið (“Sun Voyager”) sculpture. It is time to check into our hotel, relax, and unwind for the remainder of the day. L

October 6, 2025 - Monday

Into the Glacier

After a hearty breakfast, we are off to a

once-in-a-lifetime experience. We start the journey from Reykjavik and head towards the beautiful fjord of Hvalfjordur. Hvalfjordur means “Whale Fjord” because of the large number of whales in the surrounding waters. We will stop at the hot spring Deildartunguhver. Deildatunguhver churns out 180 liters of boiling water per second (a rate of flow that tops all other European hot springs). Some water from the hot spring is used for heating purposes and is piped to nearby villages. We arrive in Husafell, and our adventure leading us to the untouched beauty and raw nature of Langjokull, Iceland’s second-largest glacier, begins. You will receive crampons to tie onto your shoes or boots. Next, we board a modified glacier vehicle to explore the glacier environment and enjoy the views as we drive atop the ice cap. Our specialist guide will teach us all about glaciers before going deep inside the manmade ice tunnels leading to the blue heart of the glacier. This is truly one of the many highlights of the journey. Lunch is served at a local restaurant before heading to our beautiful hotel in Grimsborgir, one of the best hotels Iceland offers. En route, we stop at Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls. Camera out; these falls are stunning! After a wonderful day, we arrive at our hotel in time for a delicious dinner. Enjoy the outdoor hot tubs and a beverage of your choice; if lucky, you may catch the Northern Lights! Off to bed for a good night’s rest.

October

7, 2025 - Tuesday

Golden Circle

After breakfast, we embark on a full-day tour of the Golden Circle, a route home to some of Iceland’s most beautiful natural attractions. We make our way to visit the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park, the site of a magnificent rift valley where the historical and geological wonders of the American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart at a rate of a few inches per year. It is clearly visible! This place is also the home of the largest natural lake in Iceland. Next, we will see the spectacular Gullfoss Waterfall before reaching the spouting geysers in the geothermally active valley of Haukadalur. Lunch is served in Geysir before we enjoy yet another taste of Iceland’s local delicacies: the delicious rye bread, which is made in the traditional way by baking it underground using the natural geothermal heat found in the area. On our way back to the hotel, we will stop and visit Fridheimar Greenhouse to learn all about how to grow tomatoes in Iceland. A soul-warming Bloody Mary is served before we depart this special place. We return to our hotel in time for dinner. Enjoy a spa treatment tonight (optional) or simply relax, taking in the stunning views of the surrounding nature.

October 8, 2025 - Wednesday

Southern Tour

After enjoying breakfast, we will tour the

southern part of Iceland. Our views today will include farmlands, glaciers, volcanoes, and waterfalls. We will pass from the volcano Hekla and the glaciervolcano Eyjafjallajokull, which erupted in 2010, causing enormous disruption to air travel and affecting ten million travelers. Reaching the southern coast, we will see the Westman Islands rise from the sea. We will stop at the black beach of Reynisfjara, and you will witness the spectacular basalt columns at the hillside and the characteristic rock pillars - a nesting place for puffins and other seabirds during the summer season. You will have the opportunity to walk the path of the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, passing behind the falling waters. Another impressive waterfall is Skogafoss. You will feel the power released in a spray cloud once the water hits the pool at the bottom. Lunch is served at a local restaurant today, and dinner is at our wonderful hotel. Yet another day of “cameras out”; the photography opportunities are exceptional!

B | L | D

October 9, 2025 - Thursday Lava Tunnel, Blue Lagoon

After breakfast, we head towards a very special lava tunnel. We will walk inside the tunnel (you decide how far and deep you wish to go) while listening to stories about the Thunder God Thor and some interesting Norse mythology. Thor played an essential role in Icelanders’ beliefs, and the

influence of the Pagan religion is evident in many location names spread far and wide across the country. Next, you will be mesmerized by the most extraordinary geological wonders and again witness some of the most dramatic and spectacular scenery at Gunnuhver fumarole and the “bridge between continents” on our way back to Reykjavik. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. Our last stop today is at the world-famous Blue Lagoon, where we will enjoy a relaxing afternoon. Located on an old lava field, it is considered one of the 25 Wonders of the World. Being a natural geothermal spa, the warm sea waters are rich in minerals and silica, which gives the water its mesmerizing bright blue appearance. You can enjoy a swim and a free mud mask from the “Mud Bar,” you can order drinks on your electronic entrance wristband once in the water. What’s not to love?! In the afternoon, we will arrive in Reykjavik to check into our hotel. The evening is yours to enjoy this charming city.

Your ticket includes visiting the Planetarium show, observation deck, and ice cave experience. In the early afternoon, we transfer to Reykjavik airport in plenty of time to check in for our flight and to clear security. Dear Women of the Midwest,

Eat - Live - Love

Rome - Apulia - Amalfi Coast with Women of the Midwest

October 12-24, 2025

If you are looking for a destination and time to just enjoy life, then this trip to Rome, Apulia, the Amalfi Coast, and Pompeii is for you!

Embark on a journey to experience the colors, sights, and smells of all that Italy has to offer We begin in Rome, an ancient history, art, and culture metropolis. The capital of the once great Roman Empire and Christianity, a city of wonder and passion, yesterday and today, all in a remarkable mixture and imperial setting.

Next is Apulia (or Puglia, as the local says), the sun-soaked heel of the Italian boot – brimming with silvery-green olive groves, whitewashed cities, and sapphire seas. Here, a calmer way of life still thrives. We will visit the countryside “massarias” (farmhouses), learn all about world-class olive oil, slumber in an elegant trullo, and nibble fresh focaccia in Lecce’s Baroque squares. Matera is a story by itself and one of the world’s oldest, still inhabited cities. A magical place, a complex of cave dwellings carved into the mountainside. Just wait and see!

Finally, we will bask in the delights of the Amalfi Coast. Be amazed by terraced cliffs plunging into a sparkling deep blue sea, colored bougainvillea draped over sherbet-colored villages, and small pebble beaches tucked into secluded coves. The scent of citrus and lemon orchards permeates the salty air, creating a plethora of memories. A visit to the city of Pompeii is included. In the shadow of Mt. Vesuvius, this place is where life abruptly ended 2,200 years ago; we will explore the remnants of this ancient civilization.

If warm welcomes, great food, good local wine, and the Old-World appeal that Italy is so famous for intrigues you, then join me! Let’s “Eat, Live, Love” our way through Italy. Saluti,

Anne Moore, Women of the Midwest Ambassador

Its real name was the Flavian Amphitheatre, after the emperors who built it in the first century AD. “Colosseum” refers to the “colossal” statue of Nero that stood at the entrance at one time. The afternoon is free for shopping, “peoplewatching,” and enjoying life. B

The Vatican City

After a delightful breakfast, we are off to another country! Ten minutes drive from our hotel, and we are in Vatican City! We will tour the Vatican Museums, a treasure trove of ancient Greek sculptures, medieval tapestries, and Renaissance paintings. Our visit culminates at the Sistine Chapel, where the Pope is elected. Next, we visit St. Peter’s Basilica*, by far the largest church in Christendom. We will see Michelangelo’s Pieta, sculpted when he was just twenty-four, and Bernini’s seven-

story bronze canopy about the main altar. October 16, 2025 - Thursday

Lecce

After breakfast, we will depart for the Apulia region and the town of Lecce. Lecce is the “City of Baroque” famous for its monuments and buildings. It is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Italy; you will soon understand why! It is a relatively small city but has a lot to offer. Surrounded by luscious nature and inspiring history, stirring unexpected delights and delicate Apulian cuisine. Upon arrival, we will freshen up, unpack, and meet for a short orientation tour on foot. Our welcome-to-Lecce dinner is served at a local restaurant and includes traditional dishes of the region. October 17, 2025 - Friday

Squinzano – Hands-on Cooking Breakfast is enjoyed, and we are ready to take in Lecce, also known as the “Florence of the South.” You will fall in love with its indescribable Baroque style with cloisters, palaces, the beauty of Santa Croce Basilica, Piazza Duomo ...an unexpected world of treasures is right in front of us, most of

it built in the famous Lecce stone, a local limestone used as a structural and also as a decorative material. The city dates back to Roman times. In Lecce, you will discover an infinite mix of people. The sea surrounds the region, and everyone would land here. You will see people who are blond with blue eyes and darker-skinned people with frizzled hair, but all with the same calm, peaceful, and tranquil attitude ...that’s what Lecce does to you. Today, we will take a culinary tour of Apulia, starting with a walk to the local food market. This market is for food lovers, rich in all the local produce. We continue to our hands-on cooking venue in the nearby Squinzano, the area with the best olive oil and wine in this region. Off the tourist tracks and with our local experts, we will learn about authentic Italian cuisine. Our dishes are simple, tasty, and healthy. Recipes never written down but handed down from mother to daughter; this is what it is all about. We return to Lecce in the afternoon for a relaxing evening. B | C

October 18, 2025 - Saturday

Castellana Grotte – Alberobello - Ostuni After breakfast, we will explore more of the surrounding area. Our first stop will be in Grotte di Castellana, a small town home to a series of caverns carved out over the centuries by water streaming through the rocky soil (expect a 2.5-mile walk). Alberobello is up next (AlberoBello means the “Beautiful Tree”). This is a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its trulli (“hat”) houses (around 1,500 of them). A trullo is a unique dry-stone hat with a conical roof built without mortar. They have survived quite intact and function even in the modern world. We will discover the history, architecture, mystery, and symbolism of their finials and enjoy the fairy tale atmosphere of this amazing hamlet. Lunch is served at

a Massaria (manor farm), including the area’s orecchiette (“little ears”) pasta, a traditional homemade pasta. Our last stop is Ostuni, known as the White City and one of the most picturesque towns in Southern Italy. Clinging onto three hills, the old center is a spiral of whitewashed houses and cobbled streets with dramatic views of a sea of olive trees and, further away, the Mediterranean. We are back in Lecce for a relaxed evening. What’s not to love? B | L

October 19, 2025 - Sunday Olive Oil tasting class – Lecce

This morning, we will take a half-day tour of a traditional olive oil farm. We will learn about high-quality extra virgin olive oil, the importance of cold-press, how to buy and store it, how to read the label, the health benefits of EVOO, and how to use olive oil in our food. In the afternoon, we will take a guided walking tour of the center of Lecce. We will visit the Basilica Santa Croce, the site of the most important Roman ruins - a 25,000-seat Amphitheater from the 1st century BC - and a column marking the end of the Appian Way. During our walk, we will also be introduced to an exceptional local craft: the art of papermâché. We will visit one of the oldest workshops in Lecce; this is one of the highlights of our journey. The paper-mâché phenomenon is unique to Apulia and dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries when the development of arts was linked to the increasing number of churches and monuments. As a “Grand Finale” of our stay in Lecce, take a “passeggiata,” the nightly stroll most Italians take. Everyone is coming out, young and old. Enjoy the best people-watching. B | T | L

October 20, 2025 - Monday

Matera

After a hearty breakfast, we will pack our luggage, check out from our hotel, and

board our private motor coach to enjoy a guided tour of Matera. Matera has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. It is the “City of the Caverns,” a village of houses carved in the rock with exciting sea views and vegetation rich in “fichi d’india” (prickly pears, the flower of the cactus often used for jam), imposing agaves, and capers. Matera continues to be the destination of great actors and film directors. Mel Gibson said: “In fact, the first time I saw this place, I just went crazy because it was so perfect.” We will check in to our hotel in the Matera area tonight, where dinner is enjoyed. B | D

another jewel of this coastline, boasting picturesque pink and white villas perched dramatically on the steep bill side. Then on to Amalfi, which gives its name to the entire coast on which it lies. The unmistakable cluster of tightly packed white houses rising up the hillside is dominated by the beautiful Cathedral, which stands on the top of a great flight of steps leading up from the main square. Pompeii

After breakfast, we will take a short drive to Pompeii, an ancient community buried in volcanic ash and mud. Brought to an abrupt halt 2,200 years ago when the volcano erupted, daily life stopped in the middle of everyday activities. Following the city’s ancient roads, we will explore the well-preserved ruins of homes, stores, temples, and public spaces, visually narrating what Roman life was like in this 1st-century city. We are close to Naples, the “home of Pizza,” so guess what’s up for lunch! The afternoon is at leisure; time for shopping, ladies! Our farewell dinner is served at a local, fun restaurant. B | L | D

GROUNDED ITALY

VILLA DESTINO

with Women of the Midwest

October 17-25, 2025

Dear Women of the Midwest,

In Italy, wellness isn’t just a practice—it’s a way of life, woven seamlessly into everyday moments and cultural traditions. From a deep connection to nature to the importance of slowing down and savoring life, Italians embrace rituals that promote balance, joy, and presence. You’ll experience this spirit throughout our journey to the heart of Umbria.

One beautiful example is the passeggiata—a cherished tradition of taking a leisurely evening stroll, often before dinner. It’s a time to unwind, connect with others, and enjoy the simple pleasure of being outdoors. You’ll see locals gathering in the town squares, families walking arm in arm, and friends pausing to chat as the sun sets. It’s a gentle yet powerful wellness ritual that speaks to the soul.

Thermal baths, mindful eating, and strong bonds with family, friends, and community are other key elements of Italian wellbeing. While mindful eating can be a challenge amidst Italy’s irresistible culinary delights, we’ll do our best to find balance— honoring the joy of food while staying connected to how it makes us feel. This retreat is designed to nourish you—body, mind, and spirit. You’ll learn accessible, grounding techniques to help manage stress, reconnect with what matters, and bring more ease into your everyday life. Whether it’s a breath work session on the terrace, a mindful walk through a vineyard, or simply a quiet moment with a cappuccino and your journal, each day offers new opportunities for restoration and inspiration.

And let’s not forget the fun! This journey is also about laughter, connection, and adventure. From sipping wine under the stars to exploring vibrant hilltop towns, shopping for artisan ceramics, and indulging in private chef-prepared meals, you’ll enjoy the very best of Italian hospitality and elegance— with a wellness twist.

I am so honored to guide you on this unforgettable experience. You’ve taken the time to prioritize yourself—and now it’s time to relax, recharge, and rediscover the joy that comes from truly living in the moment.

With warmth and anticipation, Denise Welmaker, LCSW

Bicycle through the city, visit the best museums in the world, or simply “shop until you drop!” - the possibilities are endless!

New York’s dynamic arts community, anchored by Broadway and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, provides extensive entertainment. At the same time, shopping ranges from high-end boutiques to handcrafted goods sold at neighborhood flea markets. What’s not to love?

Saturday

Breakfast is included and enjoyed at your own pace.

A day at leisure awaits. Less than half an hour from our hotel, you can step into one of the coolest markets in the world, the Chelsea Market in the Meatpacking District. It’s impossible to visit New York without doing at least a little bit of shopping. Whether you’re looking to purchase or casually stroll through, this urban shopping mall has everything you want to see, from groceries to flea markets. Walk through Chelsea Market to experience unique shops and culturally diverse restaurants, and make dessert stops. This is a great place to snap a picture under an archway lit with thousands of white string lights, grab a bite to eat, and buy creative knick-knacks and memorabilia.

The Meatpacking District is a hip commercial area on the far west side. It is home to the Whitney Museum of American Art, high-end designer clothing stores, and a stretch of the High Line, an elevated park built atop former railroad tracks. At ground level, the cobblestone streets are filled with trendy restaurants and clubs that have taken over the cavernous spaces once occupied by the

All too soon, our Big Apple journey has ended.

If you love to walk, we highly recommend returning to the hotel via the High Line. Once destined for demolition, luckily, the community rallied together to repurpose it instead, creating the park you can experience today. But the High Line is more than a park - it is a public space where you can view art, walk through gardens, enjoy a performance, savor delicious snacks, or just people-watch while enjoying a unique city perspective. Built on the historic, elevated freight line, the High Line is really a wonderful place to stroll. To walk the entire length (1.45 miles) takes around 30 minutes.

If you love museums, the MET (Metropolitan Museum of Art) is the place to visit. Don’t forget the gift shop; it’s probably the best museum shop in the world!

Tonight, we meet for a fun farewell dinner at a nearby recognized restaurant. Cheers to our group and the greatest bite of the Big Apple! B | D

Thursday, Thanksgiving Day

Breakfast is included and enjoyed with your fellow travelers.

Next, we gather to walk to our favorite spot to take in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. You are welcome to join your ambassador or head out on your own.

The Parade first took place in 1924, making it the second-oldest Thanksgiving Parade in the United States.

In the 1920s, many of Macy’s employees were first-generation European immigrants. They wanted to celebrate Thanksgiving Day with the type of festival they loved and cherished back home. The Parade marches through the streets of New York City, featuring enormous balloons, marching bands, Broadway musical casts, and celebrity performers. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us to be here!

Our Thanksgiving Day lunch is served at a wonderful pub. We will take a moment to reflect on all the things we are so thankful for.

Time on your own this afternoon and evening. Less than half an hour from our hotel, you can step into one of the coolest markets in the world, the Chelsea Market

in the Meatpacking District. It is one of the best food halls in New York, but it’s not your average neighborhood market. While it is similar to the average market in that its vendor stalls line a maze of hallways, it veers towards the gourmet end of the food markets. Several movies and series are filmed here, such as “Law and Order,” “American Gangster,” and “The Blacklist.”

If you love to walk, we highly recommend returning from Chelsea Market via the High Line. Once destined for demolition, luckily, the community rallied together to repurpose it instead, creating the park you can experience today. But the High Line is more than a park - it is a public space where you can view art, walk through gardens, experience a performance, savor delicious snacks, or just people-watch while enjoying a unique perspective of the city. To walk the entire length (1.45 miles) takes around 30 minutes.

The Meatpacking District is a hip commercial area on the far west side. It’s home to high-end designer clothing stores, and the cobblestone streets are filled with trendy restaurants and clubs that have taken over the cavernous spaces once occupied by the namesake meatpacking plants. B | L

a 15-minute walk to Radio City Music Hall to enjoy a guided insider’s look at this legendary place. Upon opening its doors for the first time on a rainy winter’s night in 1932, the Radio City Music Hall was proclaimed to be so extraordinarily beautiful as to need no performers at all. The first-built component of the massive Rockefeller Center, the Music Hall, has been the world’s largest indoor theater for over eighty years. We will discover its art-deco masterpieces, learn the secrets of the Great Stage, and meet a Rockette. At the end of the tour, we will enjoy the Spectacular Christmas Show; it’s ...spectacular!

We are just around the corner from St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Follow our tour guide to visit the Neo-Gothic-style Roman cathedral, a prominent landmark of New York City.

We return to our hotel on foot, and the remainder of the afternoon is at leisure.

In the evening, we meet up and join our tour guide for a Staten Island Ferry tour (we will utilize our Subway cards to get to/from the Ferry). Get the best views of Manhattan during this unforgettable panoramic lights-of-the-City tour. B

All too soon, our Big Apple journey has ended.

Mid-afternoon, we will gather to transfer to the airport for the return flight back home. B

BELGIAN CHRISTMAS!

Delighfully Delicious!

with Women of the Midwest!

WO MEN OF THE MID WEST

Travel Solo Together

CO | IA | KS | MN | MO | NE

Dear Women of the Midwest,

November 29 - December 8, 2025

I am beyond excited to invite you to join me on our second journey to discover Christmas in Belgium! Come crisp winter days, give in to that warm, fuzzy feeling during Christmas in a fairy tale European country.

Belgium takes great pride in the grandeur of Christmas celebrations, and we will find ourselves at the most beautiful Christmas markets you’ve ever imagined.

Pretty medieval cities take on fairy tale airs as the temperatures drop; it’s hard to judge which place is the most enchanting. The scent of fresh waffles lingers at all Christmas markets, and the streets are dressed like gingerbread houses with festive fairy lights reflected in the canals. Hop on a horse-drawn carriage for a tour of the cobbles or linger in some of Europe’s most charming Christmas markets. Browse the stalls laden with handmade Christmas goodies and tasty treats. The opportunities for shopping are endless, and your only (luxury) problem is what to choose, and how much to bring back home for your favorite people.

Join me on this delightful and delicious journey to follow in the footsteps of kings and artists.

Learn about art nouveau and the art of lace- and chocolate-making. Visit castles and stunning museums ...even the museum of “a girl’s best friend!” Ladies, what’s not to love?

Get into the festive spirit and celebrate with me; I guarantee you will burst out in an “I Love Belgium” once this trip ends!

Yours in travel and adventure, Lora Black Ambassador, Women of the Midwest

November 29, 2025 - Saturday Traveling to Brussels

Our fairy tale adventure begins as we take an overnight flight to Brussels. Enjoy inflight entertainment and meal service as you start your dream vacation.

November 30, 2025 - Sunday Brussels

Welcome to Belgium! Upon arrival, we will meet our private tour director and take a short drive to the center of Brussels. We will visit the Horta Museum, dedicated to the life and work of the architect Victor Horta and his time. The museum is housed in Horta’s former townhouse and workshop, built in 1898. Antoni Gaudi, Gustav Klimt, and Louis Comfort Tiffany may sound familiar, but did you know Victor is the famous Belgian architect considered the Father of Art Nouveau? The interior of his house has been largely preserved: mosaics, stained-glass windows, furniture, and wall paintings form a harmonious whole that shows subtlety down to the smallest detail. By 1914, with the beginning of the First World War, Art Nouveau’s elegant curves and long lines were largely replaced by the more sharp angles and geometrical shapes of Art Deco and later by the Modernism styles. A delightful welcome lunch is served at a restaurant at Grand Place (the beautiful main square of Brussels) before we check into our beautiful hotel. It is time to relax and unwind. If you are still awake, join us for a walking tour of the Christmas market at Grand Place. It is only a few mintues from our hotel. B (during flight) | L

December 1, 2025 - Monday

Brussels

After breakfast, we will continue exploring Brussels. Brussels is the capital of Europe and home to several international institutions, such as NATO and the European Commission. We will drive through the European district, pass by the European Parliament, and visit the Atomium. The tall-standing (335 ft) monument is one of the tallest structures in Belgium. Its nine 59 ft stainless clad steel spheres are connected in the shape of a unit cell that could represent an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. It offers stunning views and is the emblem of Brussels. Leisurely time for lunch before we take a walking tour of the center of Brussels, including a private chocolate workshop to learn everything about the worldfamous Belgian pralines. The evening is a leisure to explore more of Brussels. B | T

December 2, 2025 - Tuesday

Gaasbeek Castle - Bruges

We are off towards beautiful Bruges. Our first stop today is at the Castle of Gaasbeek. The inside-out beautiful fortified castle was built around 1240 and contains impressive art collections displayed in lavishly decorated historical rooms; it will not disappoint. Our lunch today is served at a fun and traditional countryside tavern. A local brewery with some of the best beer in Belgium will welcome us to Bruges - tasting included! Belgians take their beers as seriously as the French do their wines. You will find beers corked and wired like a bottle of Champagne, and some beers will mature in the bottle

for up to six years. We will check into our hotel for a relaxing evening. Take a stroll around the corner to discover the cozy Christmas atmosphere in one of the prettiest cities in Europe! B | L | T

December 3, 2025 - Wednesday

Bruges

After breakfast, we are ready to step back in time and explore Bruges on foot. With its beautiful medieval architecture, cobblestone streets, picturesque canals, and Christmas markets, it seems straight out of a fairy tale. Often called “Venice of the North,“ it beckons its visitors to tour its grand squares as well as its tiny back alleys and discover all its beautiful charms. We will visit the Lace Centre Museum. By the 13th Century, Bruges was the epicenter of Europe’s textile trade. The large volume of textiles moving into and out of the area developed a rich fashion industry, which paved the way for Bruges’ unique lace industry. You will have the opportunity to watch a bobbin lacemaking demonstration. Lunch is served at our favorite restaurant, right on the canal. The remainder of the day is free for shopping, more sightseeing, or simply “people-watching” and enjoying life. B | L

December 4, 2025 - Thursday Bruges

How about a full day to explore more of Bruges on your own? Enjoy a laid-back breakfast, and then head out to enjoy the city. Shop your favorite souvenirs and beautiful Christmas gifts to bring back home, and warm up with hot chocolate

from renowned chocolatiers; try Belgian waffles and speculoos cookies - the crispy, rich, and aromatic cookies with the floral character of Ceylon cinnamon and the caramelized sweetness. Oh, and don’t miss a cone of fries with tartar sauce, yum! Too much walking? Experience the charm of Bruges by riding through its cobblestone streets in a horse-drawn carriage, complete with cozy blankets. B

December 5, 2025 - Friday Loppem Castle - Ghent

After a delicious breakfast, we say a fond farewell to Bruges. A few miles away lies Loppem Castle, in the middle of a romantic English garden with age-old trees, ponds, and a maze. It is time to follow in the footsteps of kings and artists and enjoy a rich art collection, including medieval sculpture, Flemish paintings, stoneware, Mechelen alabasters, Portuguese ivories, illuminated manuscripts, prints, and drawings. We will arrive in Ghent in time for a guided walking tour, including a 90-minute boat tour with tastings of local delicacies. You will love this city, which was a prominent city-state during the Middle Ages. Today, it is a university town and cultural hub. Its pedestrianized center is known for medieval architecture and beautiful alleys. In December, Christmas is everywhere! This afternoon, we will visit the impressive St. Bavo Cathedral, including the Mystic Lamb augmented reality experience. Through special glasses, we will travel back to the distant past in the cathedral’s crypt and witness the tumultuous history of the Ghent Altarpiece and the cathedral as if we were

right there. It is an exceptional experience, and we are thrilled to share it with you! In the late afternoon, we will check into our centrally located hotel for an evening at leisure. B | T

December 6, 2025 - Saturday Antwerp

After a filling breakfast, we will drive to Antwerp. Many may not be familiar with this gem of a city. Antwerp is all about diamonds, jewelry, art, and shipping. It is only a short drive from Ghent, and we will begin with visiting the DIVA Museum to meet “a girl’s best friend.” We will follow the journey of a diamond from a raw material to a sparkling stone. Besides the diamonds, the museum also hosts a breathtaking collection of silverware. Lunch is at leisure before we continue with a visit to the Red Star Line Museum. The Red Star Line was the steamship line founded in 1872 by Clement Acton Griscom, a Philadelphia Quaker. The line was a joint venture that ran the American Line. Two million passengers traveled to America on the Red Star Line ships; one of them was Irving Berlin, who crossed the ocean to America in 1893, chasing his dream. Before we return to Ghent, we will visit the Cathedral of Our Lady. When people say that Antwerp’s Cathedral is stunning, they are not exaggerating; it is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. We return to Ghent in the late afternoon/early evening. Enjoy dinner on your own. B

December 7, 2025 - Sunday

Ghent

Enjoy breakfast at your own pace. Today,

we give you the opportunity to delight in Ghent on your own. Just like Bruges, this city has so much to offer. Discover unique items at boutique shops in the Patershol district, stroll through Gentse Winterfeesten, the city’s Christmas market, which features over 150 stalls selling handmade crafts, local delicacies, and unique gifts, and don’t miss the Belgian treats like waffles, mulled wine, and the local specialty, cuberdons. Admire the city’s award-winning lighting design, which highlights its architecture in the most stunning and beautiful way. We will meet for a fun farewell lunch in a centrally located restaurant in Ghent. In the afternoon, we suggest you visit the traditional cafés to savor hot chocolate or jenever, a Belgian gin often served warm during winter. What’s not to love?!

2025 ROSE PARADE TOUR

2026 JOURNEYS

Dear Women of the Midwest,

GROUNDED KAUAI, HAWAII

with Women of the Midwest

January 12-17, 2026

My name is Denise Welmaker. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice in San Antonio, Texas. I was born and raised on a farm in Southwestern Kansas and consider myself a Midwesterner at heart.

The university brought me to South Texas, where I followed in the footsteps of my aunt, a Clinical Social Worker in Lawrence, Kansas. I started my career in hospitals, but I quickly transitioned to hospice and end-of-life care. There is something about working with people who don’t have much time left that helps you put things into perspective. Because I found this incredibly important, I based my 30 years of clinical counseling practice on working with people 55 plus. We are all works in progress… ever-changing and evolving, and I feel blessed to help people navigate their way down the path chosen or maybe just the path they somehow wandered upon. I’ve honed my skills and techniques to assist in healing past wounds, to help us live mindfully in the present, and to gratefully plan for a purposeful and meaningful future. Our new program, Grounded, has lofty but attainable goals. It is designed for those who feel physically and emotionally out of shape. Through our love of traveling solo together, we will continue cultivating our sisterhoods and forming new and essential friendships while learning to be Grounded.

Our goals for Grounded are to learn tools to:

Day 1 - Monday - January 12, 2026

Arrive in Kauai & Welcome Dinner

Today, we arrive in beautiful Kauai and transfer to our stunning beachside hotel. At 6:30 PM dinner is served and after dinner, we will meet with Denise and delve into what we have in store for the week, begin our media detox, and hand out welcome goodies. Take an evening walk on the beach or relax in your room. D

Day 2 - Tuesday - January 13, 2026

Waimea Canyon & Whale Watching Adventure

Grounding is the process of connecting to the Earth’s electrical energy. This practice is rooted in the theory that the electrical charges from the Earth has a positive impact on your health. It can involve walking barefoot outside, lying in the grass, or running your fingers through the dirt. Is gardening therapeutic for you? This might be why! We will explore the benefits of grounding and offer tips on how to incorporate it into your daily routine. After a refreshing morning your adventure continues as our guide picks us up for a scenic drive to historic Waimea town, where you’ll have time to explore and enjoy lunch on your own.

Next, prepare to be amazed by one of Kauai’s most iconic natural wonders — Waimea Canyon. Often called “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” this geological masterpiece features dramatic cliffs, vibrant red rock formations, and sweeping panoramic views. But — the best is still to come!

Next, we’ll set sail on an unforgettable Whale Watching Tour on a 65-foot catamaran cruising the tranquil waters of Kauai’s south shore, where you’ll have the rare opportunity to witness humpback whales.

Relax and take in the beauty with delicious appetizers and a selection of sodas, juices, beer, wine, and tropical Mai Tais! B/S

Day 3 - Wednesday - January 14, 2026

Paradise Experience - Smith Family Luau

What is stillness? It is a calm, quiet, motionless state. Stillness soothes the nervous system, increases your ability to hear your intuition, and anchors you in the present moment. Following breakfast Denise will lead a fun outdoor activity with today’s theme in mind.

This evening celebrate the Hawaiian spirit of aloha with the most famous of Hawaiian celebrations, the luau. Your luau is near the sacred Wailua River, once reserved for Hawaiian royalty. Receive a shell lei leisurely stroll around the lush 30acre gardens. The heart of any luau is the pa‘ina, the feast which centers around Kalua pig, wrapped in ti leaves and roasted in the earthen imu oven. Also on the menu: teriyaki beef, Ono (delicious) mahimahi and tasty chicken adobo. Maybe try some hula moves!

Food may be the heart of a luau, but music is the soul. Hawaiian ancestors preserved their history by passing down songs and chants called mele. Celebrate these traditions from these cultures with the Rhythm of Aloha Show. B/D

Day 4 - Thursday - January 15, 2026

Mountain Tubing Adventure

We are in for a full day of wellness and fun! Today’s theme is “How to quiet your inner critic”. Before breakfast, we will learn about the importance of being kind and compassionate to ourselves. Is your internal dialogue always kind and compassionate? Would you speak to your best friend in the same way that you “speak” to yourself? Denise will explain the long-term effects of negative self-talk and provide tools to replace it with warmth and kindness. We will use the ancient Hawaiian tradition of Ho’oponopono which is the practice of reconciliation and forgiveness. This helps you to let go of negative emotions, grudges, and fears, acting as a mental detox. So hold on to your sun hats and let’s start the day!

After lunch on your own, we will depart for our Mountain Tubing Adventure in an historic ditch and tunnel system that once irrigated a vast sugar plantation. Begin with a four-wheel drive across the former sugar fields to see breathtaking views of Mt. Wai’ale’ale and waterfalls. Then float through 2.5 miles of open canals and 5 tunnels on gently flowing waters with beautiful scenery for a relaxing, fun, and fascinating experience. This evening have dinner on your own at one of a selection of walkable restaurants near the hotel. After dinner, Denise will be available for pre-planned individual chats. B

Day 5 - Friday - January 16, 2026

Day of Leisure

Start your day with words of encouragement from Denise regarding being of service to others and how that can impact us in positive ways. Enjoy breakfast, and then enjoy a full free day to do whatever you please! Take advantage of our beachside hotel pool, restaurant, and bar. Book an optional tour in advance or walk over to the shops and restaurants at Coconut Marketplace for some souvenir shopping. The world is your oyster! Denise will be available for pre-planned individual chats at designated times. B

Day

6 - Saturday - January 17, 2026

Day of Leisure

Today’s theme is creating a retreat at home. As we prepare to head home after an amazing trip to Hawaii it may hit you… how will I keep this up at home? No beach, no problem. After breakfast, Denise will talk about how to prepare a space to practice your new techniques. How to “get away” when there’s no place to go and how to “staycation” at home.

Pack your bags but the fun isn’t nearly over! After checking out of the hotel, we are off to experience a guided conductornarrated train tour of the historic 105 acres of the Kilohana Plantation. This includes an animal feeding stop, a rum tasting demonstration, and a Mai Tai cocktail. We will end this amazing excursion with dinner at Gaylord’s Restaurant. Full and happy we will bid Mahalo to the beautiful people of Kauai and transfer to the airport for an overnight flight home. You will arrive home on February 18, 2025. B/D

Dear Women of the Midwest,

GROUNDED COSTA RICA

with Women of the Midwest

February 8-13, 2026

The theme this week is “Pura Vida.” Pura Vida is more than just a phrase; it’s a way of life. It translates to “pure life” or “simple life.” We invite you to slow down, breathe deeply, and embrace the simple joys around you. Whether it’s watching the waves roll in, enjoying a nourishing meal, or connecting with others in the moment, Pura Vida is about choosing gratitude, presence, and peace. I will guide you in exploring how to carry this feeling with you—not just while you’re in paradise, but long after you return home.

Our proven program, Grounded, has lofty but attainable goals. It is designed for those who feel physically and emotionally out of shape. The program aims to introduce attainable ways to adjust our compasses and live a happier, more fulfilling life grounded in self-care. Join us for the first Grounded held in stunning Costa Rica! It is specifically curated for relaxation and peace, oh…and tons of laughter! Through our love of traveling solo together, we will continue cultivating our sisterhoods and forming new and essential friendships while learning to be Grounded.

In loving health,

Our goals for Grounded are to learn tools to:

• Become Grounded in wellness, goodness, happiness, and joyfulness.

• Learn the importance of our five senses in our daily lives.

• Enhance physical relaxation, mindfulness, and being present.

• Find purpose in your current situation.

• Create an action plan to incorporate what you have learned.

Day 1 - Sunday - February 8, 2026

Today, we land in Liberia, Costa Rica, board our private transportation for an hour and a half ride to our beautiful oceanside hotel in Tamarindo. Tamarindo is a peaceful coastal town in Costa Rica, where warm ocean breezes, soft sandy beaches, and gentle waves create a perfect setting for relaxation. It’s an ideal destination to begin our wellness journey, unwind and recharge in nature. This evening, our welcome dinner is served and after dinner, we will meet with Denise and delve into what we have in store for the week, begin our media detox, and hand out welcome goodies. Take an evening walk on the beach or relax in your room. D

Day 2 - Monday - February 9, 2026

Today the theme is Nature’s Wisdom...Here are some of the things we will be talking about today.

Slow Down to Grow

Just like trees don’t rush to bloom, healing and growth take time. Nature reminds us to be patient with our journey and honor each season of life.

Stillness is Strength

Mountains stand tall not by moving, but by being. In stillness, we reconnect with our inner strength and find clarity amid life’s noise.

Let Go Like the Trees

In autumn, trees shed their leaves with grace. Nature teaches us to release what no longer serves us—making room for new beginnings.

Flow Like Water

Rivers never resist obstacles—they simply find another way. Water teaches us adaptability, persistence, and the power of going with the flow.

Embrace the Present Moment

A flower doesn’t worry about tomorrow—it simply blooms where it’s planted. Nature invites us to fully inhabit the now, where peace lives.

Everything is Connected

From the roots beneath the earth to the stars overhead, nature is an intricate web of connection. Wellness begins when we remember that we are part of something bigger.

Rest is Essential

Even the sun sets. The natural world honors cycles of rest and renewal—so should we.

Following an early breakfast we will head out on today’s adventure to see the best wildlife in Guanacaste, Palo Verde National Park! Highlights will be migratory birds, crocodiles, and white faced monkeys. After exploring the river we will visit Guatil City. Guatil, a small village near Santa Cruz, is renowned for its traditional Chorotega pottery—a craft passed down through generations for over 800 years. Visiting these artisans offers a glimpse into a slower, more intentional way of life, where art and tradition are deeply connected to the land and community.

When we return this afternoon around 2PM, we will take a few minutes to freshen up then meet with Denise to contemplate how to integrate our learned wisdom from today into our everyday life.

The rest of the evening is yours to explore on your own or with new found friends. B/L

Day 3 - Tuesday - February 10, 2026

This morning after a leisurely breakfast we will meet with Denise to talk about today’s theme, what turtles teach us about patience and self-worth...yes, turtles!

Turtles are deeply inspiring symbols of patience, resilience, and wisdom. Their slow, steady pace reminds us that we don’t have to rush to reach our goals—that presence and persistence are powerful. They carry their homes with them, showing us how to feel grounded and safe wherever we go. And in many cultures, turtles represent longevity, peace, and a deep connection to the earth, teaching us to move through life with grace and trust in the journey. We will explore ways to apply this to everyday life through journaling, grounding, and breathing practices. Relax and enjoy lunch and the afternoon on your own.

This evening around 6PM we will depart for an epic journey about 30 minutes from our hotel to search for turtles on the beach. We are here during the proper season so with luck, we have the possibility to observe this wonderful phenomenon that occurs on only a few beaches in the world. We will use special lights to protect the turtles and special guides to provide information and location. This tour can involve up to 2 hours of walking on the beach. We will arrive back at the hotel approximately at 9PM. B

Day 4 - Wednesday - February 11, 2026

You will start your day with breakfast then words of encouragement from Denise regarding the book “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz. This book offers a powerful code of conduct rooted in ancient Toltec wisdom, guiding readers toward personal freedom and inner peace. By practicing the agreements—being impeccable with your word, not taking things personally, not making assumptions, and always doing your best—individuals can transform self-limiting beliefs and create a more fulfilling, harmonious life.

The rest of today is a free day to do as you please and enjoy our beautiful hotel or make arrangements for a tour on your own. B

Day 5 - Thursday - February 12, 2026

After breakfast we will meet with Denise to explore today’s theme of rewilding or returning to a natural state of being. This theory might sound kind of “out there” but once you understand the concept it’s really quite instinctive. There’s no denying how therapeutic it is to escape into nature and find your balance, this is just another way to think of “rewilding.” Denise will give you practical ways you will be able to do this at home with little effort like sitting quietly outside, grounding, working in the garden, and other nature activities. These things may bring you instant relief in crisis or more constant peace in life in general.

Prepare for a spectacular afternoon at our farewell party! We will rewild ourselves for sure! Grab your swimsuit, hat, and sunscreen! This afternoon we head to Flamingo Beach to board our private Catamaran to enjoy an afternoon full of snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, or just relaxing on board and enjoying the beautiful ocean. We will have an open bar with premium drinks, beer, soft drinks, and water. Also served will be a buffet lunch with tacos, salad, pasta, burritos, and fruit. We will return to the hotel around 7PM. The rest of the evening is for you to enjoy on your own. B/L

Day 6 - Friday - February 13, 2026

This morning after breakfast we will have a short meeting with Denise to wrap up and say adios to beautiful Costa Rica and new found friends. Then, you’ll have time for one last walk on the beach before packing and heading off to the airport. Time sure flies when you’re having fun. This may be the end of our Costa Rican adventure, but it’s just the beginning of using the new “toolbox” we’ve been given to live a more gratifying life grounded in self care. Pura Vida! B

ITALIAN SPRING

Rome - Tuscany - Florence - Venice

with Women of the Midwest

March 22 - April 2, 2026

Dear Women of the Midwest, Imagine springtime in Italy - Piazzas, Gondolas, the Tuscan hillsides, flowers in bloom, fresh vegetables, longer days ...

I’m Jennifer King, and I invite you along on a tour of Italy in 2026! Give yourself the gift of travel and immerse yourself in the Italian way of life. Join me and go back in time to where art and culture began - the birthplace of the Renaissance! Florence! That is day five of our tour, but first, let me tell you how our adventure begins …

We start our journey by arriving in Rome for a 3-night stay where we will follow the path of the ancient Romans. You will have the opportunity to try making fresh pasta and tiramisu from secret recipes passed on for generations! We will tour the Eternal City, walk, eat, and visit the famous Vatican museums. You will see Michelangelo’s Pieta, housed in St. Peter’s Basilica, and we will make our way to the Sistine Chapel, where it took Michelangelo four years to paint the frescoed ceiling.

A short drive away is Florence, the home of the Renaissance, which started here in the early 15th century.

Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, and the Rialto Bridge, and we can’t visit Venice without taking a Gondola ride and a visit to the islands of Murano, home of glassworks, and Burano, the home of handmade lace.

Reserve your place now for this fabulous trip to Italy.

Rome

After a hearty breakfast, we are ready to step back in time and visit “Ancient Rome,” including the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. Its real name was the Flavian Amphitheatre, after the emperors who built it in the first century AD. The Colosseum refers to the “colossal” statue of Nero that once stood at the entrance. A fun afternoon awaits. Love Italian food? Today, we will make fresh pasta and tiramisu with secret recipes straight from “nonna” (grandmother)! A truly unique experience as we learn to create fresh pasta with our favorite flavors, topped with a selection of Italian cheeses ... and love! Held in a 17th-century Palazzo near Piazza Navona, this interactive class is led by our enthusiastic Italian chef. We will complete our cooking experience by making Italy’s “numero uno” dessert, tiramisu! Layered with delicious cream, coffee, sugar, and cocoa, it’s no wonder that tiramisu is so sought-after. Now, “That’s Amore!” B | C

March 29, 2026 - Sunday Tuscany

We are in Tuscany, the area of some of the most outstanding wines in the world, and it’s time to sniff, sip, and taste. March 30, 2026 - Monday

Venice

We say a fond “arrivederci” to Tuscany as we head north to Venice. After approximately three hours of driving, we arrive at the watery wonderland of islands seemingly laced together by delicate

bridges, one of the most romantic cities in the world, but also a city where getting lost is a “must” and half the enjoyment. This is Venice! Our water taxi will take us to our hotel to check in before we head out for a walking tour, including the famous Piazza San Marco, the impressive St. Mark’s Basilica, and the Doge’s Palace, the official residence of Venetian rulers in the Middle Ages. We continue to the island of Burano to stroll the picturesque streets of brightly colored houses and discover the masterpieces of lace made by experts. The lace houses are true gems, and a visit to those is an unforgettable experience. We head back to Venice to enjoy lunch at leisure, and the remainder of the day is yours to “get lost” and explore the labyrinth of narrow alleys, countless bridges, and small squares! B

BELGIUM & THE NETHERLANDS

Brussels - Bruges - AntwerpAmsterdam - Keukenhof with Women of the Midwest

April 12-21, 2026

Dear Women of the Midwest,

If you are an art admirer, a chocolate and waffle lover, a history enthusiast, and a flower-buffs like myself, then this trip is for you.

Belgium and the Netherlands - both countries are just a little larger than Maryland.

We will visit Renaissance towns and dig into the architecture and picture-perfect medieval villages with canals, tulips, bicycle paths, cows, wooden shoes, and windmills.

Belgium, with its illustrious art history, fabulous foods, a plethora of divine addictive chocolates, and more than sixty UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is also the international headquarters of the European Union (EU) and NATO.

The Netherlands offers us one of the greatest small capital cities of the world, Amsterdam, with all the plusses of a big city with a rich culture, artistic heritage, and a fantastic food scene, but without the noise, traffic, and pollution of a big city.

Highlights of this trip are Bruges, Brussels, the Ooidonk Castle, Antwerp (the world’s diamond capital), Kinderdijk with its beautiful and still-in-function windmills, Royal Delft porcelain, and the Van Gogh Museum. Our tour culminates with a full day at Keukenhof Tulip Festival.

I invite you to join me, solo or two-by-two; we will have a blast!

Ambassador

balancing on the edges and a happy baby nestled inside. From then on, the location was referred to as the “Child’s Dike.” Nearly all the mills are inhabited by at least one person holding a miller’s degree. They are authorized to operate these impressive machines for actual milling. Next, we will drive to Rotterdam to explore this beautiful city on foot. We will also stop for traditional Dutch coffee and apple cake, and take a boat tour through the harbor. In the afternoon, we will reach The Hague, located on the North Sea coast. Dinner will be served at our hotel tonight. B | T | D

April 18, 2026 - Saturday

The Hague - Delft

This morning, we will take a half-day tour of The Hague, known as the international city of peace and justice. For more than a century, it has been a gathering place for countries at peace conferences and international courts to promote peace through justice rather than through war and conflict. The Hague is perhaps best known for its beaches, monuments, and bustling shopping district, but this city has much more to offer. You will discover a wide variety of museums and a plethora of welcoming restaurants. Enjoy excellent people-watching, as over 180 different nationalities reside in The Hague. We will visit the Mauritshuis Museum, home to some of the finest Dutch paintings from the era of Rembrandt and Vermeer. Admire the masterpiece “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” often referred to as the “Mona Lisa of the Low Countries.” A visit to the Netherlands would be incomplete without exploring the beautiful Royal Delft porcelain. We will head to the picturesque city of Delft, a canal-ringed city known as the manufacturing hub for Delftware, hand-painted blue-and-white pottery. You will have the chance to decorate your own

tile. We will take a walking tour of the city and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Your evening in The Hague is free; you can stroll along the seaside, observe the people, and savor life. B | L

April 19, 2026 - Sunday

Amsterdam

Breakfast is served, and a short 50-minute drive takes us to Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. With over 800 years of history waiting to be discovered, Amsterdam is rich in fascinating attractions and sights. From old castles to beautiful museums and charming secret courtyards to picturesque cobbled streets, this capital city is a feast for the eyes, and it’s no w onder it has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will enjoy a day in the company of Van Gogh and Anne Frank, followed by a wine and cheese canal cruise in the evening. You will have time for shopping and to enjoy an abundance of boutique-style cafes. The Van Gogh Museum houses the world’s largest collection of works by the maestro himself. With over 200 paintings, 500 drawings, and 700 letters, the museum offers an intimate look into the life and mind of this artistic genius. See his masterpieces, such as Sunflowers, Almond Blossom, and self-portraits. Don’t miss the museum shop; you will find beautiful souvenirs and gifts to take back home. We will also visit the Anne Frank House. Lunch is at your leisure today (we have some great recommendations!). We will return to The Hague in the late evening for a good night’s rest. B | D (cruise)

Keukenhof - Tulips, Tulips, Tulips! One of the biggest highlights of our journey is about to happen! After breakfast,

we will take a short drive to Keukenhof. People from all over the world come to enjoy the stunning 32-hectare Keukenhof Tulip Garden and explore the tulip fields. We will have a full day to admire the gardens and the more than seven million bulbs planted to create this floral extravaganza. But the park offers more than just a backdrop for its seven million spring-flowering bulbs; it is also a beautiful venue for sculptures and other works of art that add an extra dimension to the park. Keukenhof is collaborating with 25 artists. The combination of a blooming park and visual art is remarkable. Spend as much time as you wish exploring the Organic Garden, the Tropical Beach Garden, the Pink Tea Garden, the Graffiti Garden, and the Red Romance Garden. There are plenty of restaurants where you can enjoy lunch. You will also find a gift shop with lovely souvenirs to bring back home. Should you decide to purchase bulbs, ensure they are certified and approved by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). We will return to The Hague in the late afternoon. Traveling to Athens

Our charming adventure begins as we take an overnight flight to Athens. Enjoy in-flight entertainment and meal service as you start your Greek dream and “foodie” vacation.

May 5, 2026 - Tuesday

Athens

Welcome to Athens! Upon arrival, we will meet our private tour guide, who will accompany us during the entire trip. We are off to experience some of the most incredible sights in history. On our way to Athens, we will stop at Cape Sounion, where the impressive Temple of Poseidon rises above the Aegean Sea. A delightful seaside lunch is served before we reach our hotel. Athens is one of the oldest cities in the world, full of myths, mysteries, and legends. The city is home to many sacred ancient sites, monuments, and landmarks - a fusion of old and new and a buzzing cosmopolitan metropolis. It is one of the most glorious cities in the world and the cradle of Western civilization as we know it today. Founded seven thousand years ago, the city flourished in the fifth century BC when Athenian democracy was practiced in the Bouletarion (council chamber) and open discussion was encouraged in the Agora (marketplace). Check into our hotel for an evening at leisure to relax and unwind. If you are still awake, take an evening stroll by the Acropolis; it’s right next door. B (in-flight) | L

May 6, 2026 - Wednesday

Athens

After a delightful breakfast, we will head out to discover Athens. A short distance by foot takes us to the Acropolis, dominated by the Parthenon and built as a temple to honor goddess Athena in the 5th century BC. From the top of the hill, you will see the Agora, where Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle strolled. Next, we will visit the stunning Acropolis Museum, where lunch is served. We will continue by

motor coach through the city to see the House of Parliament at Syntagma Square, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Public Library, the University, and the Panathenaic Stadium, where the first Olympics of the modern era were held. The late afternoon and evening are yours to enjoy the city. Don’t miss old town Plaka with its numerous shops (open till late!), enjoy people-watching and a local “meze” (plate with small bites) - the best way to taste the local delicacies. B | L

May 7, 2026 - Thursday

Corinth Canal - Ancient Olympia

After a hearty breakfast, we board our motorcoach and drive towards Peloponnese. We will stop to admire the canal that connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. A local mountain village is the backdrop for lunch, followed by Greek coffee with the best baklava you have ever tasted! We will arrive in Ancient Olympia in the early afternoon and visit the birthplace of the Olympic Games. The Athletes met here for the first time in 776 BC, and this is where the Olympic Torch is lit every two yearsbefore each Summer and Winter Olympics. Indulge in the exceptional aura of Ancient Olympia; it feels like the games are still on. The evening is yours to enjoy and relax. B | L

May

8, 2026 - Friday

Honey - Silk - Mystras - Sparta

After a rich breakfast, we will take a short drive to a family-owned honey farm at the outskirts of Ancient Olympia. Klio, the owner, will meet us, introduce us to her agricultural activities, and share stories about her grandparents, who made their living from this special farm. We will walk the garden, learn about the secrets of honey production, and taste traditional sweets with honey prepared in front of us. We will continue toward Kalamata on the southern side of Peloponnese, world-famous for its olives. Lunch is served by the seaside

and promises to be a feast! After lunch, we will stop is at a special monastery, the Abbey of the Nuns. Founded in 1796, it has been a local space for charity, a safe place during German and Italian occupation, and a shelter for those displaced during the Greek Civil War. A central courtyard with orange trees houses the nuns’ living areas and a church. The monastery is known for its silk production. We will visit the room where the nuns used to work and cultivate silk back in the day and the weaving room where you can see unfinished pieces on the looms. Silk products are still made, including silk headscarves known to be among the finest in the world, embroideries, small icons, and more, which you can purchase from the monastery shop. Our last visit today is to the abandoned fortress of Mystras, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once the last stronghold of the Byzantine Empire, today, the stones of its monumental gates, medieval houses, palaces, and churches lay silent. We will spend the night in the city of Sparta. In ancient times, a powerful town-state known for its brave soldiers and set amongst vineyards and citrus and olive groves. B | L

Monemvasia - Nafplion

At the tip of the Peloponnese’s first leg lies the unspoiled town of Monemvasia, a Byzantine castle citadel strategically perched on a massive rock protruding from the sea. The history of Monemvasia begins with its name; it derives from the words “moni” and “emvasis,” which mean “single passage.” The Venetians discovered that the only access to the castle town of Monemvasia was through a paved walkway. Before this walkway was constructed, the only way to enter the town was by boat. Monemvasia is one of the most romantic places in Greece, resembling a Medieval Harry Potter town, exclusively carved into the slopes of a rock.

We will have time to explore on our own before lunch is served inside the citadel. In the afternoon, we will drive toward Nafplion, one of the prettiest cities in Greece. You will love the small shops and narrow streets full of life. Take a stroll tonight to admire the illuminated Palamidi, a fortress nestled on the crest of a 709-foot-high hill built by the Venetians. Relax and kick back. B | L

May 10, 2026 - Sunday

Epidaurus - Nafplion

After a hearty breakfast, we are off to yet another extraordinary place. Our first stop is at a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site, the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, a 2,300-yearold stage known for its legendary acoustics from ancient times. This site leaves a special impression as it hosts the roots of all medicine and the cult of the God of Medicine, Asclepius. If you recall, the snake wrapped around the physician staff is today’s symbol of the medical profession. It all began in Ancient Epidaurus. Lunch is special and served in the shade of hundred-year-old olive trees. Enjoy the best local cuisine while learning about the “golden liquid” and the importance of olive oil. Tonight, we will taste ouzo, a dry anise-flavored aperitif enjoyed throughout Greece. Some consider it the national drink. B | L | T

May 11, 2026 - Monday Naxos

We will enjoy a laid-back morning before driving to Piraeus, the port of Athens, for our afternoon ferry crossing to the island of Naxos. We will make a quick lunch stop on the way to the port. The namesake capital (also called Hora) is a port town filled with whitewashed, cube-shaped houses and medieval Venetian mansions. The island offers everything from delicious food and local liquors to beautiful white marble, incredible Cycladic scenery, local crafts, and some of the best beaches in Greece. We will experience it all! Our three-night

stay in Naxos will be something you will never forget! B | L

May 12, 2026 - Tuesday

Taste of Naxos Tour

We will enjoy a late breakfast. Then, we will take a walking tour of Naxos Town (Hora) with tastings of local delicacies: cheeses, citrus liquor (kitron), and sweet pastries. Naxos Island Tour

Enjoy breakfast at our own pace before boarding our motorcoach for an island tour. Experience local villages and stunning scenery. We will also learn the techniques of local ceramics during a visit to a workshop, where we will be introduced to the history of local art and the various types of clay. We will savor lunch at our tour guide’s favorite tavern. It doesn’t get much better than this. B | L

May 14, 2026 - Thursday

Santorini - Oia Sunset

Enjoy your free time in the morning to swim or take a final stroll in Hora. We will embark on a short two-hour ferry ride to Santorini, a truly magical island, a sparkling jewel in the Aegean Sea, famous for its whitewashed houses set against the backdrop of the cobalt blue sea and its black sand beaches. Molded by fire and sea, its majestic cliffs are said to guard the secrets of Atlantis. Cameras ready - this island is picture-perfect! We will check into our hotel, and the afternoon is yours to bask in the golden sunshine, relax, and unwind in one of the most beautiful places in the world. We have arranged a tour of Oia in the evening to enjoy the

spectacular sunset, dinner included! B | D

May 15, 2026 - Friday

Santorini - Food & Wine - Cooking Class

We are off to explore the wines and foods of Santorini. We stroll through the ancient vineyards and discover the famous “kouloura,” an ancient Phoenician technique for growing grapes in baskets. We will savor four of the island’s most remarkable wines and head to the kitchen to broaden our knowledge of Santorini’s rich culinary treasures. Using seasonal and locally grown ingredients, our local chef challenges our notions of how certain dishes should look, taste, and smell before we enjoy the results.

I’ll be right here throughout it all—helping with the details, smoothing the path, and ensuring you feel supported, and inspired.

Let’s laugh often, share freely, and celebrate the beauty of traveling as women—strong, curious, and connected. If you need anything, no matter how big or small, just let me know. Your happiness is my mission.

with Women of the Midwest

May 17-22, 2026

Dear Women of the Midwest Travelers,

Welcome! I’m absolutely thrilled to be your Ambassador for our upcoming journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and Yosemite National Parks. My name is Lisa Anderson, and I’ll be traveling alongside you every step of the way—not only as your host, but as your dedicated concierge on the road. My mission is simple: to make sure your experience is seamless, comfortable, and truly unforgettable.

This tour is more than just a scenic escape—it’s a chance to stand beneath the towering giants of Sequoia, feel the wild rush of waterfalls in Yosemite, and explore the hidden depths of Kings Canyon. These parks are some of nature’s greatest masterpieces, and I can’t wait for us to experience their wonder together.

Even more special is the camaraderie we’ll build as a group of adventurous women, sharing stories, laughter, and lasting memories. Whether you’re traveling solo or with a friend, you’ll find that this journey is as much about connection and community as it is about discovery and beauty.

If there’s anything you need—big or small—I’m here to take care of it. My role is to ensure you can fully relax, soak in the sights, breathe in the mountain air, and enjoy every moment.

At Women of the Midwest, we believe travel is about more than just seeing the sights—it’s about finding joy in the journey, forging new friendships, and discovering new sides of ourselves along the way. Whether you’re seeking peace, adventure, laughter, or all of the above, this trip has something magical in store for you.

I can’t wait to meet you and begin this incredible journey together. Here’s to awe-inspiring views, soul-nourishing moments, and friendships that will last long after the tour ends.

Warmly,

May 17, 2026 - Sunday

Arrival in Los Angeles - Welcome to California! Our incredible adventure begins today as we arrive in Los Angeles, where the spirit of discovery is already in the air. After meeting your fellow travelers—soon to be friends—we’ll board our deluxe motorcoach and set out on the first leg of our unforgettable journey through Sequoia, Yosemite, and King’s Canyon National Parks.

What better way to kick things off than with a visit to one of the world’s most breathtaking museums—the Getty Center. Nestled high in the hills above Brentwood, the Getty welcomes us with panoramic views of Los Angeles, world-class art collections, and beautifully curated gardens. Take your time exploring masterworks by Van Gogh, Monet, Rembrandt, and more, or wander through the Central Garden—a living sculpture of blooming flowers, tranquil streams, and a serene reflecting pool. Enjoy lunch on your own at the café or terrace as you soak in the views and begin to connect with the natural beauty that will define our week ahead.

This afternoon, we’ll check in to the comfortable Embassy Suites LAX South, where spacious suites and a complimentary evening reception await. It’s the perfect setting to relax, unwind, and start getting to know your travel companions.

Tonight, raise a glass to the exciting days ahead—breathtaking landscapes, giant sequoias, cascading waterfalls, and unforgettable memories are just around the corner! D

May 18, 2026 - Monday

Sequoia National Park and Wuksachi Lodge

Rise and shine! After an early breakfast at the hotel, we say goodbye to Los Angeles and depart at 8:00 AM, heading north into the heart of California. Settle into your deluxe motorcoach seat as the cityscape gives way to golden hills, rich farmland, and the wide-open spaces of the Central Valley—California’s agricultural heartland.

As we travel, you’ll witness the state’s remarkable diversity: endless vineyards, orchards, nut groves, and the Sierra Nevada rising in the east, promising the natural wonders ahead. Your Tour Director will share stories of the region’s past—from Spanish ranchos and Gold Rush tales to its vital role in feeding the nation.

Around midday, we stop for lunch on your own at the iconic Harris Ranch Inn & Restaurant in Coalinga. Beloved by locals and travelers alike, it’s known for hearty ranch-style meals and

premium beef raised right on-site. Whether you’re in the mood for a burger, salad, or comfort food classic, there’s something for every appetite.

After lunch, we continue toward the Sierra Nevada foothills. As the road climbs, the scenery shifts from oak-dotted hills to pine forests and eventually the majestic sequoias that define this region.

By late afternoon, we arrive at Wuksachi Lodge, your serene mountain retreat in the heart of Sequoia National Park. Nestled at 7,200 feet and surrounded by redwoods, the lodge offers rustic charm and incredible access to the park’s natural beauty. Settle into your forested accommodations and enjoy the tranquil setting. Dinner is on your own this evening—perhaps at the lodge’s cozy restaurant, where local flavors and a relaxed lodge atmosphere set the tone for your stay.

Tonight, sleep beneath a canopy of stars. Tomorrow, the giants await. B

Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks

Wake up to the crisp mountain air and the scent of pine as the morning sun filters through the towering trees outside your window. After a hearty breakfast at the lodge, get ready for a full day of awe and adventure in one of the most majestic landscapes on Earth.

Today, we’ll be joined by a knowledgeable local guide who will bring the stories of this ancient forest to life as we explore the awe-inspiring beauty of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Our journey will take us along the breathtaking Kings Canyon Scenic Byway, often called one of the most beautiful drives in America. As we wind through this dramatic glaciercarved valley, keep your eyes peeled for cascading waterfalls, granite cliffs, and wildlife that call this pristine wilderness home. Step into the silent majesty of General Grant Grove, where colossal sequoias stretch skyward. Here stands the General Grant Tree—nicknamed “The Nation’s Christmas Tree”—one of the largest living trees on the planet and a humbling symbol of resilience and time. We’ll also visit the national park’s Visitor Center, a perfect place to deepen your understanding of the ecosystems, history, and preservation efforts that make these parks so special.

This afternoon, we’ll enjoy a boxed picnic lunch beneath the giants, surrounded by trees that have stood for over 2,000

years. It’s a peaceful and powerful moment—eating lunch in the shadow of living monuments.

Depending on trail and weather conditions, we may make optional stops at some of the park’s iconic highlights:

• Tunnel Log, the famous fallen sequoia you can walk or drive through.

• The Giant Forest Museum, where the story of the sequoias is told through engaging exhibits.

• Moro Rock, a dramatic granite dome with a staircase to the summit that offers panoramic views stretching across the Sierra Nevada (weather permitting and optional).

After a day filled with natural wonders and unforgettable memories, we’ll return to Wuksachi Lodge for a relaxing evening. Dine at the lodge restaurant, sip a drink by the fire or at the cozy bar, or take a peaceful stroll beneath a canopy of stars in the clear mountain night sky. B/L

May 20, 2026 - Wednesday

Sugar Pine Railroad & Arrival at Tenaya Lodge

After a relaxing breakfast at Wuksachi Lodge, we check out and head north through the scenic Sierra foothills. The landscape shifts as we pass pine-covered slopes, historic logging country, and charming mountain towns.

In Fish Camp, we’ll step back in time aboard the historic Sugar Pine Railroad—a 60-minute narrated ride on a restored narrowgauge steam train. Once part of the 19th-century logging boom, these open-air cars offer fresh mountain air and stunning forest views. As the train whistles and chugs along, we’ll hear stories of the rugged loggers and rail workers who once called this region home.

Before continuing, we’ll enjoy a BBQ lunch surrounded by towering pines—a rustic and satisfying meal to fuel the road ahead.

Next, we enter Yosemite National Park through the dramatic Tunnel View Overlook, where a breathtaking panorama unfolds: El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, and Half Dome in all their iconic glory. It’s Yosemite at its most cinematic—so have your cameras ready. By late afternoon, we arrive at Tenaya Lodge, our home for the next two nights just outside the park’s south entrance. The evening is yours to relax, explore, and enjoy dinner on your own—perhaps at the elegant Embers Restaurant or the casual Jackalope’s Bar & Grill. Let the quiet grandeur of Yosemite settle in—tomorrow, the adventure continues. B/L

May 21, 2026 - Thursday

A Day of Discovery + A Final Evening at Tenaya Lodge Awaken to another beautiful morning in Yosemite Valley, where the sound of rushing waterfalls and the scent of pine fill the air. After breakfast at the lodge, prepare for a day that will leave a lasting imprint on your heart and memory.

We’ll be joined by an expert naturalist from the Yosemite Conservancy, whose passion and deep knowledge will guide us through the wonders of this legendary national park. Today’s full-day journey will uncover the stories, science, and soul of Yosemite—from ancient geology to ecological preservation, and from indigenous history to the enduring power of natural beauty.

You’ll visit some of the most iconic sights in all of Yosemite, each offering its own unforgettable moment:

• Tunnel View

• El Capitan & Half Dome

• Bridalveil Fall

• Sentinel Bridge & Merced River

• The Ahwahnee Hotel

• Yosemite Falls – North America’s tallest waterfall

By midday, we’ll stop in Yosemite Village, where you’ll have free time to grab lunch on your own, visit the Ansel Adams Gallery or explore the Visitor Center.

As the day winds down, we return to Tenaya Lodge for one last evening surrounded by nature’s grandeur. Savor the golden light as the sun sets behind the cliffs, casting a warm glow across the valley.

Tonight, we gather for a final dinner, bidding farewell to new friends and the unforgettable experiences we’ve shared. As night falls, take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey you’ve shared in one of the most extraordinary landscapes on earth. B/D

Arrive in Seattle, WA

Today our adventure begins as we fly to Seattle, Washington. Upon arrival we meet our local tour director and head out to explore the Emerald City. Nestled between the sparkling waters of Puget Sound and the majestic peaks of the Cascade and Olympic Mountains, Seattle is a vibrant city that blends natural beauty with modern sophistication. Feel the hum of the city as you stroll through bustling markets, savor fresh coffee from a cozy café, or take in sweeping views from atop the iconic Space Needle. From its thriving arts scene to its lush green parks, Seattle offers a dynamic and inviting start to our coastal journey.

We’ll begin our day downtown, visiting the original Starbucks, browsing the lively Pike Place Market, exploring the Shopping District, and stopping in at the Seattle Art Museum.

Next, we head over to Pioneer Square and the Stadium District, where the gothicinspired early architecture transports you back to the 19th century. Wander through modern galleries and enjoy popular restaurants as you make your way to the homes of the Seattle Seahawks, Sounders, and Mariners.

From there, we journey to the International District and the Waterfront, where we’ll explore the vibrant communities of Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Cambodian, Hmong, and Vietnamese residents. This area offers a rich tapestry of both diversity and unity. Continue along the waterfront to discover the Seattle Aquarium, fresh seafood restaurants, souvenir shops, water taxis, and so much more.

Our day continues as we head toward the iconic Space Needle and its impressive surroundings, including the Museum of Pop Culture (formerly Paul Allen’s Experience Music Project), the Pacific Science Center, and Chihuly Garden and Glass, a dazzling glass art exhibit by Dale Chihuly. There’s plenty to explore in this sprawling 72-acre urban park.

Finally, we make our way to the Ballard Locks and the Fremont neighborhood. The 99-year-old lock system connects freshwater Lake Union and Lake Washington to the saltwater Puget Sound—a perfect place to relax and watch boats glide by.

After a fun-filled day, we arrive at our centrally located hotel, where you’ll check in and enjoy the rest of the evening at your leisure.
