Together we are stronger than abuse.
Together we are stronger than abuse.
Dear Friends and Supporters,
This past year has been one of transformation and growth. At our recent Annual Meeting, we revealed our new name—a milestone that reflects not just the evolution of our mission but the heart of who we are: a place of unity, strength, and healing for all victim-survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
This change is more than a name; it’s a commitment to grow, reach more people, and meet the changing needs of our community. As we look ahead, our mission is to embrace and support all victim-survivors in crisis, ensuring that everyone has access to the resources and pathways to healing they deserve.
Together, we are building a future where safety, empowerment, and healing are within reach for all.
Thank you for standing with us and believing in change.
In
Gratitude and Hope,
Nathalie S. Nelson President & CEO
Meaghan Cannon Chair, Board of Directors
For us, it’s everything—community, inclusivity, and the belief that every individual matters.
Our new name reflects the diverse voices and journeys of those seeking safety, support, and hope. It honors our legacy while embracing an inclusive, hopeful future. With your support, we’re ready to grow, reach more people, and strengthen our services for our community’s evolving needs.
I think my mom would be so proud to see how many lives this organization has touched and will continue to serve. This is why she helped create it—to build something that could survive, grow, and evolve. Nearly 50 years later, seeing it embrace a new name while staying true to its mission is a testament to her vision and those who have carried it forward.
Stephen Sigmund Board Member Son of Barbara Boggs Sigmund
Together we are stronger than abuse.
YOU represents every individual we serve— women, men, children, LGBTQ+ individuals, immigrants, and those from every background. We see you, we honor you, and we are here for you.
speaks to the collective strength we build together—survivors, advocates, donors, staff, and volunteers—when we stand against abuse and work toward healing and empowerment.
Together we are YOUNITY.

Building bridges to healing, justice, & empowerment.
With New Jersey facing a severe housing shortage—an estimated gap of 200,000 to 300,000 units—families in our program often come from low- or no-income households made homeless by domestic violence.
Our Transitional Housing Program offers a secure, supportive next step for victimsurvivors after leaving the Safe House, providing time and resources to rebuild their lives and achieve independence.
Of those served in 2024: 33% were adults
67% were children These numbers highlight our vital role in helping families rebuild and achieve lasting independence.
This program provides 6 to 24 months of safe housing, along with comprehensive support to help participants rebuild their lives.
Program Highlights:
• 33 Housing Units: One- and two-bedroom apartments for up to 63 individuals.
• Flexible Stay Lengths: Tailored to individual needs.
• Supportive Services: Skill-building, employment assistance, and access to resources.
Families in our program receive guidance and resources to begin working toward stable housing, financial security, a strong support network, and a personalized safety plan, empowering them to strive for lasting independence.
Role of Younity’s Housing Navigator
Our Housing Navigator provides crucial support to individuals in transitional and emergency housing:
• Personalized guidance for housing needs.
• Coordination with housing programs and resources.
• Advocacy and assistance with navigating the housing market.
By addressing barriers to stability, the Housing Navigator empowers individuals to achieve long-term independence.
Guiding the way to stability & independence.
CHILDREN RECEIVED SERVICES 244
The rising demand for our services reflects the growing challenges families face.
36% increase in minors as sexual assault victims
44% increase in counseling sessions for children
40% increase in children living in our Transitional Housing Program
175 children found refuge in our Safe Housing Program IN 2024...
Younity supports children affected by domestic violence through a traumainformed approach, helping them heal emotionally, rebuild relationships, and overcome the effects of abuse.
Key Support Areas:
• Helping children understand they’re not to blame.
• Promoting emotional, behavioral, and developmental well-being.
• Strengthening bonds with the non-offending parent.
• Educating parents on the impact of domestic violence and recovery strategies.
Many families are referred by the NJ Division of Child Protection & Permanency (DCP&P), where child abuse or neglect often reveals domestic violence. In 2024, 523 children were referred for screening by DCP&P for co-occurring child abuse and domestic violence, highlighting the critical role of our Domestic Violence Liaison (DVL) in providing life-changing support.
Children’s Therapy: Evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as art, music, play therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
Child Advocacy: Direct services for children, access to resources, and program-led parent/child activities, with optional homeschooling available if needed.
The Domestic Violence Liaison Program: Specialized support for families referred by DCP&P, offering counseling, advocacy, and resources to foster resilience and build safer futures.
Breaking the cycle, rebuilding futures.
At the core of our mission is the belief that every victim-survivor deserves to be heard, seen, and supported. This year, we strengthened advocacy efforts to amplify the voices of overlooked populations—ensuring greater resources, protections, and access to life-saving services.
79 LGBTQIA+ individuals received services, highlighting the need for inclusive, stigma-free systems.
100% increase in male victims seeking support at police stations and emergency rooms.
VICTIMS RECEIVED SERVICES IN A LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH 2,496
31% increase in clients with Limited English Proficiency receiving services, either directly from Younity staff or through translation assistance.
28% of all clients required services in a language other than English.
958 hotline calls handled in a language other than English.
Every voice matters, and every language deserves to be heard. This year, Younity expanded its services to ensure clients with Limited English Proficiency could access the safety and support they need. Our team and translators provided assistance in over 12 languages, including Spanish (used by 11% of clients), Mandarin, French, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Italian, Polish, and Gujarati. This inclusive approach reflects our commitment to breaking language barriers and ensuring every victim-survivor can access life-saving resources.
Empowering every voice, breaking every barrier.

INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATED IN OUR EDUCATION & PREVENTION PROGAMS
Education and prevention drive our mission to build a safer, more informed community. Through workshops, training, and outreach, we provide students, employees, parents, educators, law enforcement, and community leaders with tools to recognize and prevent domestic violence and sexual assault. Together, we are laying the foundation for lasting change.
Prevention initiatives include:
Peer Educators Program:
We empower young leaders across high schools throughout Mercer County to advocate for healthy relationships, respect, and consent within their schools and peer groups.
Violence Prevention Coalition:
We collaborate with community partners to share knowledge, resources, and strategies that address the root causes of violence and promote systemic change.
Training and Education for Companies, Organizations, Schools, and Colleges:
We provide tailored programs for businesses, deliver age-appropriate content in schools and colleges, and equip individuals with knowledge and strategies to foster safety and awareness.
Law Enforcement Training:
We provide specialized training for police officers and recruits to ensure they are prepared to work effectively and compassionately with victimsurvivors. Topics include harm caused by victim-blaming and the importance of positive communication and body language when engaging with survivors.
Empowering change through knowledge.
