LAMDA LESSONS
At Woldingham, LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) lessons are taught by our two highly qualified and experienced LAMDA teachers. Students develop the following skills:
Verse and Prose: Improves reading skills, enriches vocabulary, encourages love of poetry, explores different authors and writing genres, improves diction and voice production and complements English lessons.
Public Speaking: Develops skills for life by teaching how to construct presentations and speeches that inform, persuade and motivate Also improves interview techniques.
Acting: Teaches a broad range of acting skills by exploring plays from Greek to modern day, improves voice production, body language and posture
through improvisation and text exploration, leading to duologue, solo or group exams.
Musical Theatre: Teaches acting combined with singing skills.
Exams are held at school during the summer term.
UCAS points are awarded in Grades 6-8.
Years 7-10 are taught during lessons on a rotational basis.
Years 11-Upper Sixth are taught outside of lessons.

PRIVATE MUSIC TUITION
Woldingham is proud to partner with some of the UK’s finest musicians and music educators to deliver first-rate one-to-one music tuition in a wide variety of instruments and vocal disciplines. Whether your daughter is keen to learn the drumkit or the harp, the organ or the bassoon, our large team of Visiting Music Teachers are available to cater to the ambitions and abilities of all students. The team is made up of musicians who play in the top orchestras in London, sing at the Royal Opera House, and perform all over the world. The level of musical excellence at Woldingham is exceptionally high and our students sing in the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain, study at the Junior Royal Academy of Music and the Junior Royal College of Music and gain outstanding results in their practical music exams. Woldingham students go on
to achieve incredible things in the music industry: among our alumnae are Cambridge University organ scholars, professional opera singers, and film composers. Our one-to-one lessons are taught during the school day in our purpose-built Millennium Centre where students have access to inspiring teaching spaces and first-rate specialist instruments and equipment. The Music Department calendar is bursting with performance opportunities for your daughter to hone her craft as a performing musician, from Soloist Evenings to Jazz and Pop Nights, Carol Services in Westminster Cathedral to international music tours.

LEITHS COOKERY SCHOOL
We offer two Leiths cookery courses at Woldingham. These practical cookery courses have been developed by Leiths Education, formerly Leiths School of Food and Wine, which was founded by Prue Leith 50 years ago. They teach the essential life skill of how to turn simple, fresh ingredients into tasty nutritious food.
Leiths Co-Curricular Cookery: Introduces students in Years 7-9 to a range of cookery skills and flavours from around the world. Leiths Academy Kitchen is a 10 week course. Each week students cook a different recipe with a focus on modern everyday meals using seasonal and affordable ingredients. Dishes include cauliflower korma, sweetcorn fritters and Thai green curry. All dishes cooked are taken away by the students to enjoy with family or friends.
Leiths Introduction To Confident Cookery: For students in Year 10 and Lower Sixth who want to learn key cookery skills through a broad range of recipes, with a view to cooking for travel or independent life. This 30 week course includes weekly demonstrations by a Leiths-trained chef and practical cooking that is global, modern and delicious. Students master recipes from the everyday to occasions, breakfasts and brunches, afternoon tea, sharing plates and celebratory dinners. The course culminates in a graded final practical assessment where students cook a given menu for a visiting Leiths teacher. It also includes a Level 2 Food Hygiene and Allergens course. Dishes include duck breasts with teriyaki, pulled chicken and red pepper fajitas, and poached peaches with honey mascarpone.
PRIVATE TENNIS TUITION
Tennis at Woldingham is thriving. With more than 170 students taking additional coaching each week, our year-round tennis programme offers an exciting opportunity for students of all abilities to develop their game.
Thanks to our stateof-the-art indoor tennis dome, coaching continues in all seasons, while in the summer we take full advantage of our outdoor courts, set in Woldingham’s stunning surroundings.
