Congratulations on becoming a part of the WMVision family! You’ve just joined our group of over 150 stations worldwide by purchasing the most advanced IP camera system currently available for broadcast. This guide will help walk you through all the equipment that will be arriving shortly.

The first shipment will be the server and camera equipment. The server includes rack rails and various adapters that may be necessary for installation. Each camera site kit arrives in a 18”x18”x24” box and can weigh up to 80 lbs. If you find damage on the boxes, please inspect the contents and call us so we can determine if replacement components are needed.

There may be a second shipment if the mounting solution needed was unknown at the time of the initial shipment. The roof mounts come in large boxes that can weigh up to 100lbs.

We aim to provide you with everything you need to fully and easily install each site. Below are the contents of each site kit.

• WxVision Pro2 or Prime4 camera

• Battery backup/Surge protector

• Smart encoder (appliance computer) w/ mouse and keyboard

• Weather station(optional) w/ mounting arm, power, and serial adapters

• POE Injector w/ separate POE surge suppressor

• 250’ of every cable needed. Outdoor/UV rated with shielding.

• Miscellaneous small parts and outdoor junction boxes

• Non-penetrating roof mount or arm/pole mount (shipped separately)

Station On-Air Server Considerations and Recommendations

Installation Recommendations

• Determine the location of the on-air server. The server can get loud depending on load.

• All camera control is done via a web interface, so direct access to the server is not required.

• The server will consume 2U of rack space. Sliding rails are included.

• An SDI connection will output from the on-air server for video output and a house reference connection is also required.

Server Network Requirements

• A minimum download connection speed of 16Mbps is required. Average latency less than 100ms is recommended.

• You do not need an external IP or ports opened for system operation.

• Remote access via Teamviewer is required for maintenance and troubleshooting purposes.

We will need to know the external IP(s) that your workstations communicate on so we can authorize them for our camera management interface.

WMVision does not maintain antivirus protection for the on-air server. It is the station’s responsibility. Please add the Weather Metrics Directory to the AV exception list

Remote Site Location Considerations & Recommendations

Rooftop Penetration

• Prior to site installation, verify how the cabling will be ran from the camera to the indoor location.

• WMVision will not penetrate any portion of the site structure during our implementation trip.

• The roof mount does not require any penetration of the building.

Remote Network Requirements

• A basic internet connection is required for the system to operate.

• An existing shared connection or dedicated connection are both suitable.

• A minimum of 2Mbps (upload) is recommended. For maximum quality 5Mbps is recommended.

• No external IP address or ports are required on site. Our system will "push" to our cloud relay infrastructure.

• Remote access via Teamviewer is required for maintenance and troubleshooting purposes.

Site Location Environment Guidelines

• Each remote site kit includes a small form factor computer (Smart Encoder)

• The Smart Encoder should be in a sheltered environment. Climate control is recommended, but not required.

• The location of the Smart Encoder must be within 250 feet of the rooftop camera equipment (longer runs may require additional equipment – please contact us for additional information).

• The remote site kit requires one standard 110v AC outlet - <1 amp required for entire system

• An uninterruptible power supply is provided with each site kit.

Roof Mount Manufacturer: Baird Satellite Supporting Systems

• Each new remote site kit includes a roof mount unless otherwise requested

• The base measures 6’x6’ with a 9’ hinged mast

• The camera can be mounted to the hinged mid-point or the top of the mast – mounting at the mid-point provides additional stability

• Without equipment installed the mount weighs approximately 150Lbs

• The mount is designed to withstand 125mph winds with (6) 16x8x8 cinder blocks

• The included rubber mats are required to protect the roof and prevent sliding

Arm mount

• Alternate option for mounting the camera to an existing pole or flat surface

• 20” long arm – aluminum & 304 SS construction

• Arm assembly with Pro2 PTZ weighs 17Lbs

• Included JCS hose clamps allow for mounting to 2.5” – 8” diameter poles

Local building codes and building owners may require additional wind loading values or have weight restrictions. Please verify that the above information conforms to all local codes and requirements. Engineering information can be provided upon request.

After each site installation, please contact WMVision Product Support at 800-869-6629 to verify functionality.

On-Air Graphics

The WMVision Product Support team is happy to help implement new graphics. In order to implement on-air graphics, please consider the following:

Determine where the TV station logo and sponsor logo will be placed for each remote site. Graphics may include an alpha channel to allow partial transparency on logos and banners. Send all graphic files to support@wmvision.com.

• When sending graphics to WMVision, a layered .psd is preferred.

• Important: Please be sure that the graphic file image dimensions match the desired output resolution of the on-air server.

• Include any non-standard fonts with the graphic file if needed.

• Please provide a mockup view of the output so the WMVision Support staff can ensure accuracy when implementing logos.

The WMVision Support team will verify all on-air graphic changes. Once graphic changes are ready for implementation, WMVIsion will schedule a time to test and verify the graphic change before it is used on-air. Here are examples:

Website Integration

WMVision provides two website integration methods; a standard web tool kit, and the streaming package.

Standard Web Toolkit – Tools to help you add static images and timelapses to your website and mobile sites. Example: http://www.kfoxtv.com/weather/features/livecameras/#.U_dtXfldV8H

• WMVision provides static image iframe or image links

• Easily integrates with your existing website

• Timelapse also available – WMVision provides iframe

• Ability to overlay

WxVision Streaming - (https://www.fox10phoenix.com/webcams-glendale)

Details:

• Hosted by WMVision cloud services – distributed globally

• Unlimited number of simultaneous streams

• No bandwidth bottle necks during high traffic events

• WMVision provides iframe code which allows for effortless website integration

• Logo capabilities for branding and sponsorship opportunities

Next Steps:

• Obtain iframe code from WMVision – minor configuration required

Tips from the Pros

• A level rooftop is crucial when installing a PTZ camera on the non-penetrating roof mount

• If possible, keep the camera wiring away from potential sources of interference (Cell antennas, high voltage lines, etc.)

• Sometimes using a roof mount isn’t an option, in these scenarios we recommend mounting the camera equipment to an existing pole or to the side of a building. We do not recommend mounting to trees!

• Place drip loops in the cabling where necessary

• Cable runs in excess of 250’ will require additional equipment; please contact us if you plan on doing this so we can provide guidance.

• Don’t run suspended cable without guy wire and professional assistance

• Although the Smart Encoder has a wide temperature range, we recommend housing it in a climate-controlled environment
