William & Mary is the birthplace of the American college fraternity. The first Greek-letter society, Phi Beta Kappa, was founded at W&M on December 5, 1776. Its earliest members established core values of scholarship, service, leadership, and community. The fraternity/sorority community today is comprised of over 1500 students, 30+ chapters, and 3 governing councils.
NPHC: @wmnphc Panhellenic: @wmpanhellenicIFC:@wm_ifc
Our three governing councils—the Panhellenic Council, the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and the Interfraternity Council (IFC)—all have different joining processes. The first step in both Panhellenic and IFC recruitment involves registering for recruitment. Registration links can be found on the FSL website or council social media pages. The first step for NPHC and other multicultural organization membership intake varies according to the particular fraternity or sorority, but general information can be found here
Our first event of the 2022 Fall Semester is the FSL Meet & Greet on Tuesday, August 30th, in the Sunken Garden. There, new students will be able to meet with current members from all of our affiliated chapters, ask questions, and get a feel for the William & Mary FSL Community. Auditions are always held during the first week of classes. Exact dates, requirements and sign-up sheets, as well as further information about the ensemble, can be found at http://wmso.wm.edu/. Please email Dr. Grandis at dfgrandis@wm.edu with any additional question. We hope to see you become part of our WMSO community. Founded in 1929, the William & Mary Wind Ensemble brings together approximately fifty of the College’s most talented wind, brass and percussion players to perform the highest quality wind literature from the 16th through the 21st centuries. The Wind Ensemble is open to all undergraduate and graduate students (regardless of major) by audition at the beginning of the Fall Semester and is a full-year commitment. The Wind Ensemble gives 3-4 performances each semester, including Family Weekend, Homecoming, Winter, and Spring concerts. Not only do we come together to share our love of music, but we come together as a family. Wind Ensemble members have fun playing (and sometimes winning!) intramural sports, sharing meals, and enjoying social outings. Auditions take place during the first week of classes. For audition requirements and to sign up for an audition time, please visit our website: https://windensemble.wm.edu/. If you have further questions, please contact Dr. Marcus at rmarcus@wm.edu Membership in the Jazz Ensemble is open to any William & Mary undergraduate or graduate student (or community member available for all rehearsals/concerts). Led by Mr. Victor Haskins, the Jazz Ensemble explores different styles, eras, and manners of performance which fall under the very broad and rich tradition of Black American Music.

• Identify email threats. Be wary of any suspicious emailsespecially when the sender is asking you to open a link, log in to a website, or open an attachment. This could lead to data loss or identity theft. Report all malicious emails as phishing to Google.
Planned Outages Sometimes we purposely schedule outages - generally for things like maintenance and system upgrades. Planned outages will be announced in Student Happenings, and posted on the System Status site (in the Scheduled Alerts section.)
There are nightly back-ups for some of our major systems. Backup times are posted on the Maintenance section of the IT website.
We also have a Monthly Maintenance Window on the 3rd Sunday morning of every month (generally) where systems are taken down for maintenance, as needed. Lists of systems undergoing maintenance are posted in the Announcements section of the IT website. If you don’t see anything posted in the System Status box related to the outage you are experiencing, please contact the Technology Support Center (TSC) by emailing support@wm.edu or by calling 757-221-HELP. Information security is a top priority for William & Mary IT. We constantly strive to protect your personal data as well as the university’s data. Help us stay safe by following these guidelines:
• Keep it with you! Portable devices, such as laptops, cell phones, and jump drives, are prone to theft. Always keep these items with you or secured in a locked location.
• Be socially savvy. Be careful when posting on social media sites or any public-facing website. Hackers can use your own words against you. Inadvertent sharing of opportune information can lead to security threats. Uh-Oh! The system is down…
• Enroll in Duo Two-Factor Authentication. Duo adds an extra layer of security to your account by using a secondary authentication method, like a cell phone. Enroll at 2f.wm.edu
