With the New Year in full swing, resolutions are the topic on everyone’s mind. For many, that resolution, in some way or form, involves getting healthy. Some may think getting healthy involves going to the gym and shedding the few extra pounds gained over the holidays while others may think its lowering their blood pressure, cholesterol, or diabetes risk. While these are important aspects of the process, your oral health is equally important. Poor oral health can be a contributor in diabetes, strokes, and cardiovascular disease to name a few. Taking care of your oral health is a simple resolution to combine with the overall concept of getting healthy. Bi-annual cleanings and exams are a simple way to ensure your oral health is maintained throughout the year to aide in your overall quest to be healthy. Let this be your year of accomplished resolutions and a healthier you!

A Few Words from The American Legion, Unit 42! The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 42 members have been some busy elves during the month of December. The gift tree at the post was full (63) of local veterans’ wish lists and all tags were filled by many local, caring people. Thank you all for helping us make Christmas a little brighter for our Veterans. Some of our members also helped with the Perkins’ Gift Tree that Perkin’s puts up each year for the veterans at the Buffalo Soldiers’ Home.

We would like to encourage any ladies out there to come to one of our meetings and see what we are about. We meet the 2nd Monday of the month. We also serve Friday night dinners at the post on the 2 Friday of the month. We could always use some more cooks. Thank you. From the officers of The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 42

Please Give us one More Boom: Oil & Gas in Wyoming January 6 - February 28 Campbell County Rockpile Museum The Campbell County Rockpile Museum is hosting “Please Give Us One More Boom,” a new traveling exhibit from the American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming during the months of January and February. Although the oil and gas industry has provided great wealth to Wyoming, the consequences of reliance on these and other natural resources has made the state’s economy vulnerable to the caprices of the marketplace. Drawn primarily from the photographs, archival text, and oral histories in the UW American Heritage Center collections. This exhibit describes the ups and downs of the oil and gas industry in Wyoming from its earliest commercial history in the state during the 1800s, through most recent times, ending with a present day oil and gas boom in Converse County and anticipation of oil development in the Niobrara Oil Play of southeastern Wyoming.

The Fantasticks Musical Sunday, February 9 7:00pm Cam-Plex Heritage Center Talk about a time proven audience pleaser! “Try To Remember” a time when this romantic charmer wasn’t enchanting audiences around the world. The Fantasticks is the longest-running production of any kind in the world, and with good reason: at the heart of its breathtaking poetry and subtle theatrical sophistication is a purity and simplicity that transcends cultural barriers. The result is a timeless fable of love that manages to be nostalgic and universal at the same time. This moving tale of young lovers who become disillusioned, only to discover a more mature, meaningful love is punctuated by a bountiful series of catchy, memorable songs, many of which have become standards. Through the creative genius of Director, Carl Beck and Costume Designer, Georgiann Regan comes a steam punk inspired adaptation of this classic musical which promises to provide an unparalleled experience, whether you are revisiting this show or seeing it for the first time. Of the steam punk concept, Beck said, “It’s not an intrusive concept. It seems like the allegoric-quality can blend with the fantasy, giving it a quasi-period feel and making for a stronger statement than [The Fantasticks] usually gets.” He added that the story is not being rewritten or changed in anyway. Outside of the costumes, set and props, this show is, in its entirety, the original. Call Cam-Plex Ticket Office, 682-8802, for tickets.

Eugene Gagliano to Speak at CCPL

Award-winning Wyoming Children’s and Young Adult author, Eugene Gigliano, is known by many as “the teacher who dances on his desk.” Gagliano will speak at CCPL on Sunday, January 26 at 2:00pm. During his entertaining, interactive, informative, and inspirational program for all ages, Gagliano will give a brief overview of his books and share some of his humorous poems. He will also talk about the writing process and how characters are created using hats and wigs as props, and discuss how good writers show, not tell, in writing. Gagliano is a retired elementary school teacher with a great sense of humor, who lives with his wife, Carol, at the base of the Bighorn Mountains in Buffalo, Wyoming. Gene is the author of: C is for Cowboy, a Wyoming Alphabet; Four Wheels West, a Wyoming Number Gook; V is for Venus Flytrap, a Plant Alphabet; My Teacher Dances on the Desk; Inside the Clown; Falling Stars; and Secret of the Black Widow, a Wyoming Indian Paintbrush Award nominee for 2005-2006; Little Wyoming; The Magic Box, and Dee and the Mammoth. Gene’s hobbies include hiking, canoeing, singing, reading, painting, and gardening.
