WELCOME

I’d like to welcome you all to another packed autumn programme of entertainment here at the Prince of Wales, which culminates in our Christmas panto, Cinderella. But before we get there, there’s a host of shows for you to enjoy, in which I hope there’s something for everyone.

You can always expect some of the very best concerts on the circuit and this season we are delighted to welcome some old and new acts to the theatre. Some ever popular shows returning include Talon, The Drifters, and Abbamania but one of the highlights has to be the 25th anniversary of Beyond The Barricade.

We’re delighted to welcome for the first time, West End star Rachel Tucker, A Country Night in Nashville, The Searchers Experience and Rave On alongside others.

There’s a strong drama element to the programme with plays including Dracula, a radio play version of the all-time classic Dad’s Army, and A Christmas Carol.

Come and hear some of your favourite country music and other genres by Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Merle Haggard, Andy Stewart, Jimmy Shand, Brandon McPhee, and Foster and Allen by the master of the button accordion. Hear Brandon sing his latest release - a duet single with Daniel O’ Donnell which was released earlier this year.

The show also features country music from Manson Grant - one of Brandon's band. Stick around at the end of the show for a special meet and greet with Brandon.

LIONEL: THE MUSIC OF LIONEL RICHIE

Following his appearances with Lionel Richie himself on ITV’s ‘Sunday Night at The Palladium’ and ‘The Graham Norton Show’ for the BBC, Malcolm Pitt delivers a powerhouse and breathtaking performance in this high-octane show celebrating the music of Lionel Richie and The Commodores. MURDER MYSTERYFAWLTY TOWERS

It’s 1976 and the setting is ‘Fawlty Towers’, a very ordinary, and even slightly downmarket, hotel/guest-house in Staffordshire.

Basil Fawlty, proprietor of the hotel, has gone into the kitchen at approximately 5.45pm to check that Terry, the chef, had everything in hand for dinner. He was confronted by the body of Terry lying on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood with a large kitchen knife stuck in his back. Basil immediately ran to tell Sybil, his wife, who then went to check for herself that Terry was indeed dead and then phoned the police. But who was the culprit……!

We welcome back the Cannock Chase branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) for their 9th real ale and cider festival. This year it features 45 cask ales, 10 ciders and perries and a new addition of 5 "KeyKeg" Craft beers, fast becoming very popular amongst younger drinkers.

Hot and cold food and snacks will be provided by Funky Foods. Live entertainment on the Friday evening will be followed by the Magnificent 7 Club on the Saturday night.

The sun will come out in Cannock this September as Cannock Chase Drama Society proudly present... Annie the Musical!

Set in 1930s New York during The Great Depression, brave young Annie is forced to live a life of misery at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. Her luck soon changes when she's chosen to spend a fairytale Christmas with the famous billionaire, Oliver Warbucks. Meanwhile, spiteful Miss Hannigan has other ideas and hatches a plan to spoil Annie’s search for her true family.

JEAN MARTYN

Jean is an old friend of the Prince of Wales having played many concerts, and acting as Musical Director here, over many years. She started playing at the age of 3 and is still playing piano and organs to this day. She is internationally renowned in her field playing to packed audiences wherever she goes.

She has played in theatres and concert halls literally all over the world, including the USA and India. She played for 10 years at St James's Palace for war veterans, meeting members of the Royal Family.

Jean’s career took an unusual turn when she auditioned for and got on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent. Her endearing smile, great humor but most of all her incredible talent led to her getting to the final in 2011. This led to TV appearances on This Morning, Daybreak and Songs of Praise.

KEN DODD

THE REAL KEN DODD – The Man I Loved is an exclusive feature documentary film which reveals for the first time the private man behind Britain’s greatest comic genius.

The film takes an in-depth look into Doddy’s private world exploring the many secrets of his comic talent, revealing never before seen home videos, stage performances and extracts from some of Ken’s diary notebooks which he’d asked his wife to burn after his death.

Wrestling with her conscience for quite some time, Lady Dodd, finally agrees with many of Ken’s admirers like Stephen K Amos, Harry Hill, Lee Mack, Paul O’Grady, Johnny Vegas, and Sir Ian McKellen to preserve Doddy’s notebooks for posterity.

Narrated by Miriam Margolyes, a longstanding fan and friend who got her first big break working with Doddy, the fly-on-the-wall cameras follow Anne as she wrestles to preserve Ken’s enormous comic and musical legacy. Witness Lady Dodd as she embarks on a four-year odyssey to establish Doddy’s lifelong dream to build a British Comedy Museum.

UK PINK FLOYD EXPERIENCE

Celebrating 30 years since the iconic ‘PULSE' tour, this highly authentic show recreates the atmosphere of Floyd live which features top-flight musicians, a stunning light show and over two hours of incredible music from the legendary Pink Floyd.

The new show for 2024 includes many songs from The PULSE set, featuring tracks from ‘The Division Bell’, 'The Wall’, ‘Animals’, 'The Dark Side of the Moon' and 'Wish You Were Here'. LET’S ROCK THE 70s

Tower Players return to the stage in October 2024 with defective detective, Inspector Pratt, in the third instalment of the best whodunnit trilogy Agatha Christie never wrote.

Inspector Pratt’s record of crime detection at Bagshot House is not enviable. The body count mounted disastrously, as he looked on helpless and hopeless during his two previous visits - both of which have recently been brought to life (and death!) by Tower Players in Murdered to Death and Secondary Cause of Death. Now Pratt is back and, as usual, chaos reigns supreme.

During the course of his latest investigations, Pratt meets the new owner of the house, Nancy Allwright and he is soon embroiled in more

mystery, aided and abetted by Miss Maple and Constable Thomkins. Uppercrust Ginny and Italian gigolo Enzo help with enquiries, but danger soon looms with an unexpected arrival, and a frightening suggestion by Welsh busybody, Blodwyn Morgan.

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International on behalf of Josef Weinberger Ltd.

A COUNTRY NIGHT IN NASHVILLE

Direct from The Royal Albert Hall, A Country Night in Nashville recreates the scene of a buzzing honky tonk in downtown Nashville, perfectly capturing the energy and atmosphere of an evening in the home of country music.

Grandma shares her love for performing in musicals during the holiday season and tells them of the musicals she performed in when younger starting with "A Christmas Carol" and going on to favourites like Billy Elliot, Sister Act, Rent and more.

She shares her love of the theatre at Christmas and the beauty that can be

found in every number performed. Also included are popular songs such as White Christmas, War is Over and the 12 days of Christmas, finishing with everyone’s favourite Christmas carols in which the audience will be welcomed to join in the festive spirit, right alongside the cast. Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth.

With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his halfbrother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new

family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
