Three young girls injured in Edwards ATV collision

EDWARDS – Three young girls were injured about noon on July 28 when the 1994 Suzuki Quadrunner All-Terrain Vehicle they were in struck a vehicle at the intersection of Edwards Road and Layne Street, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office. Driven by a 10-year-old Edwards girl, the ATV ejected her and her two passengers – a 9-yearold girl and an 11-year-old, both from Groveland, police said. AMT transported the victims to OSF St. Francis Medical Center

Two motorcyclists ticketed in wreck

ELMWOOD – After two motorcycles collided on North Magnolia here about 7 p.m. July 30, local police issued citations to both parties for a variety of charges. Ticketed was 24-year-old Andrew Schieferecker of Elmwood

for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, operating an uninsured vehicle and having no valid driver’s license. Also ticketed was 22-year-old Cody Luna of West Peoria for operating an uninsured vehicle and having no valid driver’s license. While traveling southbound, Luna’s 2006 Kymco slowed down and was struck from behind by Schieferecker’s 2007 Kawasaki, according to reports. Luna also was transported to OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

• The Freedom Oil Shell station in Kickapoo reported three incidents of drive-away thefts of fuel, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office: $35 on July 20, $56.60 on July 22, and $31.23 on July 24. Police are checking video to press charges. • Lynn Isbell, 52, of Elmwood on July 14 reported a mailbox damaged by some sort of explosive device. • MacKenzie Eisenbarth, 22, of Brimfield on July 21 was arrested

for Failure To Appear and transported to the Peoria County Jail. • Patricia Madison, 61, of Brimfield on July 24 reported a damaged window valued at $300 on Powdermill Road in Edwards. • Victoria B. Goldring, 24, of Farmington on July 28 was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. • Clinton J. Shaffer, 39, of Farmington on July 28 was arrested on a charge of deceptive practice, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. • Justin Deeme, 26, of Laura on July 30 was arrested for domestic battery and driving Under the Influence and transported to the Peoria County Jail. • Timothy Colgan, 52, of Princeville on July 31 was arrested for theft and transported to the Peoria County Jail.

Brimfield man faces meth, homicide charges GALESBURG – A Brimfield man charged with meth and reckless homicide stemming from a May 4 fatal crash was arrested July 22 and made a court appearance July 25. Troy D. Patch, 45, of 16414 W. Brimfield Jubilee Road, appeared via video before Patch Knox County Judge Stephen Mathers after he was arrested by the Illinois State Police. rant in late July. Bond was set at $350,000 for his involvement in a May 4 fatal crash on Illinois Route 41 that left Drienne Kruzan, 71, of Abingdon dead on the scene. Police say Kruzan was stopped on Route 41 and was waiting to turn onto Knox County 730N when her car was rear-ended by a truck driven by Patch. Patch said he has hired attorney Steven Glasgow of Monmouth. According to the Galesburg Register-Mail, four of the five charges against Patch carry Class X felony sentencing guidelines — six to 30 years in the Illinois Department of

Corrections if convicted. Patch is charged with Class X felony unlawful production and possession of meth between 100 and 400 grams, two counts of felony aggravated DUI and felony reckless homicide. The production of meth charge could carry a sentence of between nine and 40 years. The first felony aggravated DUI charge alleges that at the time of the DUI, Patch was in a crash that resulted in a fatality. The second aggravated DUI count alleges Patch was under the influence of meth at the time of the crash.
