PEORIA – A 26-year-old Brimfield man had been treated and released from OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in the two days before he was found dead in a Peoria convenience store, Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll said. On Monday, Jason Cody Gilles was found by a store clerk unresponsive in the restroom of the Circle K at 2427 W. Northland Ave., according to Ingersoll. He was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m. Ingersoll said a review of records shows Gilles was seen in the emergency room at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center on Sunday (July 31) for an overdose of Fentanyl, a powerful opiod painkiller, and Benzodiazepine, a sedative. BRIMFIELD – Immediately after an executive session that lasted a relatively breezy 40 minutes, Brimfield’s board of education appointed a new member. Unanimously, without comment, and almost inaudibly, the board filled the spot held since 2002 by Maribeth Dura with Brent Graham. “Who?” whispered several members of the audience. Three people had applied for the vacancy created when Dura resigned in June to coach the high school girls basketball team. One of them was her son, Connor. Another was Daniel Kelch of Kelch Turf Farms & Landscaping. Both were present for the public meeting and face-to-face interviews during the executive session. Dura had expressed his interest in a brief letter to board members. Kelch’s letter to the board also outFor The Weekly Post

meet the HUD maximum income guidelines which are on our Website (www.habitatpeoria.org). DeSoto said that includes public employees, teachers, emergency medical technicians and firefighters – all of whom are welcome to apply. The family selected will sign a 20-year, interest-free mortgage on the house, which will be built on 402 Mound St. A vacant house currently occupies that lot Continued on Page 13
