Spotify Wrapped: Was it good or bad?
What did you think of the 2024 Spotify Wrapped?
Spotify has been one of the most well-used streaming music platforms. At the end of every year, they’ve made a “wrapped,” which is a personalized recap of your most played songs and artists. Usually, the reception of everyone’s Spotify Wrapped is positive, but this year, why are many people upset about it?
On December 4 of this year, Spotify released everyone’s wrapped for this year. It was revealed afterward that Spotify used AI (artificial intelligence) to make people’s wrapped playlists. Spotify claimed to do this to “make your 2024 wrapped even more personal”. However, people interpreted this as Spotify being lazy and not being able to do it on their own.

“No, I know didn’t they used AI. That’s crazy,” said Conner Kuhns, a first-year student at Palmer High School.
Other than using AI, people noticed that their top five artists and songs weren’t that accurate to what they listened to all year.
“It is very inaccurate indubitably. It may have lost the plot; it was a quite shock of events.” Conner remarked. “My top five artists are Eminem, 50Cent, Post Malone, Dr. Dre, and Rihanna.”
In conclusion, the 2024 Spotify Wrapped had some unexpected results, but people were satisfied with their results. Hopefully, next year’s will be better and not have too much AI involved.
Unsung Heroes: Claudette Colvin
Domonique Williams-Trevino
Many people grew up learning that Rosa Parks was the first person to refuse to give up her bus seat during the fight for civil rights. However, that is not entirely accurate. Claudette Colvin, a brave young African American woman, actually made the same bold stand months before Parks’ historic act of civil disobedience. On March 2, 1955, at just 15 years old, Colvin refused to give up her seat to a white passenger on a segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama. Her courageous decision occurred nine months before Rosa Parks’ more widely recognized protest.
Despite the significance of Colvin’s actions, her story has remained largely overlooked in history for several reasons. At the time, Colvin was a teenager, which made some civil rights leaders hesitant to make her the face of the movement. Additionally, she was dark-skinned, and colorism played a significant role in determining who received public attention. Furthermore, shortly after her arrest, Colvin became pregnant at the age of 16, which further complicated her image in the eyes of organizations like the NAACP. These organizations believed Rosa Parks, an adult with a more established status in the community, would be a more effective symbol to rally behind. While Colvin’s contributions were overshadowed by Parks, she never let her story fade completely. Over the years, she has shared her experiences to ensure that people know her role in the movement. Though she may not have received the same level of recognition as Rosa Parks, Claudette Colvin’s brave decision to stand up to injustice at such a young age was a crucial moment in the fight for civil rights.

“As a teenager, I kept thinking, why don’t the adults around here just say something? Say it so that they know we don’t accept segregation? I knew then and I know now that, when it comes to justice, there is no easy way to get it. You can’t sugarcoat it. You have to take a stand and say ‘This is not right.’ and I did.”

Palmer High School Beats Doherty High School in Boys’ Basketball
Palmer High School Terrors beat the Doherty Spartans after a 10-year drought.
In a display of wonderful games showing teamwork, Palmer High School beat Doherty High School. Both teams showcased not just skills but also determination. The game was very electric with both teams’ fans yelling cheers and showing their school spirit making it a memorable event for both teams.
From the beginning of the game, it was clear that Palmer was prepared to beat Doherty. The players executed their plays and played strong defense. Doherty was still putting up a fight, and they still used teamwork.

Doherty player Elijah Mack scored 32; he put up a perfect fight. But as the final whistle blew Palmer emerged victorious, much to the delight of their fans. The score not only marked a significant win for the team but also fostered a sense of pride among Palmer students.
Healthy Working Habits among Teenagers in Palmer High School
Zataea Hudgins,
During the school day in Palmer lots of students usually have a heavy workload on their back; this mostly consists of various pieces of work and homework from all of their eight classes. Many of these students struggle to maintain healthy habits because of this, such as taking breaks or asking for help instead of struggling in silence.
One student said, “I really can’t balance my working life compared to my school life. I either lack doing my work or having fun with my friends which really stresses me out.”
One of the easiest ways to keep working habits healthy is to keep physical appearances healthy as well. Things such as eating healthier foods, working out, and having a better sleeping schedule can keep their body healthy which more likely in return they will see a better outcome for their work without worrying about being too tired to finish work or feeling bad with themselves to the point where they don’t feel like finishing their work.
.Once I get home I usually just clean myself up and go straight to bed. It gives me more energy especially since I also play sports,” said Gwyneth Vasquez.
Time management is another big thing for healthy working habits; without managing time students could start overworking themselves and have the feeling that the more time they spend on schoolwork leads them to nothing. Over time, this will slowly deteriorate mental health, leading to students not caring about their mental health or their schoolwork depending on how long they go without managing their time without breaks or going out and doing things they like in general.
