หน่วยที่ 1 การพบกันครั้งแรก First Meeting เค้าโครงเนื้อหา ตอนที่ 1.1 การทักทายและการกล่าวลา เรื่อง 1.1.1 การทักทาย เรื่อง 1.1.2 การกล่าวลา ตอนที่ 1.2 การแนะนาตนเองและผู้อื่น เรื่อง 1.2.1 การแนะนาตนเอง เรื่อง 1.2.2 การแนะนาผู้อื่น ตอนที่ 1.3 การแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลส่วนตัว เรื่อง 1.3.1 การถามข้อมูลส่วนตัว เรื่อง 1.3.2 การให้ข้อมูลส่วนตัว แนวคิด 1. การทักทายและการกล่าวลามีรูปแบบการพูดแบบเป็นทางการและไม่เป็นทางการ ซึ่งการทักทาย และกล่าวลาได้อย่างถูกต้องกับบุคคลหรือสถานที่ สามารถสร้างความประทับใจในการสนทนา เรื่ องอื่น ๆ ต่อไปหรื อเป็ น การสร้างความประทับใจก่อนการลาจากกันได้ท างหนึ่ง ผู้ เรีย น จาเป็นต้องเรียนรู้การใช้คาศัพท์และสานวนที่ถูกต้องในการทักทายและการกล่าวลา 2. ในการสื่อสารกับผู้อื่น โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในการพบกันเป็นครั้งแรก การแนะนาตนเองและผู้อื่น เป็นสิ่งสาคัญอย่างหนึ่งที่จะทาให้ผู้อื่นรู้จักกับตัวเรามากยิ่งขึ้นและการแนะนาผู้อื่นเป็นการสร้าง มิตรใหม่ ดังนั้นผู้เรียนต้องเรียนรู้การใช้คาศัพท์และสานวนที่ถูกต้องในการแนะนาตนเองและผู้อื่น 3. ในการสนทนากับผู้ที่รู้จักกันเป็นครั้งแรกนั้น การแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลส่ว นตัวเป็นสิ่งหนึ่งที่จะทาให้ บุ คคลได้รู้ จั กกัน เป็ น การสร้ างสั มพัน ธภาพระหว่างคู่ส นทนา ดังนั้นผู้ เรีย นที่ได้ศึกษาเรื่องนี้ จาเป็นต้องรู้คาศัพท์ สานวน การถามและการบอกข้อมูลส่วนตัวได้อย่างถูกต้อง วัตถุประสงค์ เมื่อศึกษาหน่วยที่ 1 จบแล้ว นักศึกษาสามารถ 1. ทักทายและกล่าวลาได้อย่างถูกต้อง 2. แนะนาตนเองและผู้อื่นโดยใช้คาศัพท์และสานวนที่ถูกต้อง 3. สอบถามข้อมูลส่วนตัว และให้ข้อมูลส่วนตัวโดยเลือกใช้คาศัพท์ สานวนได้อย่างถูกต้อง

Language Focus การทักทาย (Greeting) ในธรรมเนียมปฏิบัติของประเทศไทยมักจะกล่าวคาว่า “สวัสดีครับ/ค่ะ” และ ใช้วิธีพนมมือไหว้เป็นการทักทายแบบเป็นทางการ สาหรับผู้อยู่ในวัยเดียวกันหรืออีกฝ่ายหนึ่งมีอายุน้อยกว่า มักจะกล่าวคาว่า“สวัสดีครับ/ค่ะ” และใช้วิธีพนมมือไหว้เช่นกัน แต่ต่างกันเพียงระดับของการพนมมือเท่านั้น ในการทักทายเปรียบเสมือนการเริ่มต้นสัมพันธภาพสาหรับผู้ที่รู้จักกันเป็นครั้งแรก หรือ ผู้ที่เราอาจ รู้จักอยู่แล้วโดยการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษ ผู้พูดสามารถใช้รูปแบบการทักทายแบบไม่เป็นทางการ (Informal) และ แบบเป็นทางการ (Formal) ตามแต่สถานการณ์และสถานภาพของคู่สนทนา การทักทายแบบไม่เป็นทางการ (Informal) เป็นการใช้ถ้อยคาที่ขึ้นอยู่กับสถานะของผู้พูดและผู้ฟังอยู่ ในระดับอายุหรือตาแหน่งเดียวกัน หรือผู้ที่ทักทายมีอายุสูงกว่า หรือผู้พูดทั้งสองฝ่ายมีความสนิทสนมกัน การทักทายแบบเป็นทางการ (Formal) เป็นการใช้ถ้อยคาสาหรับผู้พูดที่ยังไม่มีความสนิทสนมกันหรือ รู้จักกันเป็นครั้งแรก และนอกจากนี้ การทักทายแบบเป็นทางการ สามารถใช้ คานาหน้า (Title) ตามด้วย นามสกุล (Surname) ตัวอย่างเช่น Good morning, Mr. Douglas เป็นต้น หลั ง จากการทั ก ทายเรี ย บร้ อ ยแล้ ว มั ก จะมี ก ารถาม (Inquiry) เกี่ ย วกั บ ทุ ก ข์ สุ ข เพื่ อ แสดงถึ ง ความเอาใจใส่บุคคลอื่น ซึ่งคาที่ใช้จะมีลักษณะดังนี้

การทักทายสามารถกล่าวโดยใช้คาทักทายแล้ว สามารถระบุชื่อของผู้ที่เราทักทายได้ แต่ควรพึงระวัง ในการใช้ชื่อ (First name) กล่าวคือ เรามักจะไม่ใช้คานาหน้าชื่อ (Title) กับชื่อเพียงอย่างเดียว และ ไม่เรียก ผู้อื่นโดยเอ่ยเพียงนามสกุลโดยไม่ใส่คานาหน้า เพราะถือว่าไม่สุภาพ เช่น Good morning, Mr. Smith. นอกจากนี้ การตอบคาถามเกี่ยวกับทุกข์-สุข สามารถบอกโรคต่างๆ หรือความเจ็บป่วยที่เป็นอยู่ได้โดย ใช้รูปแบบประโยค I have a ……………… เช่น I have a cold. (ฉันเป็นหวัด), I have a stomachache. (ปวดท้อง), I have a sore throat. (เจ็บคอ), I have a flu. (ฉันเป็นไข้หวัด) เป็นต้น แต่หากเป็นอาการ จะใช้รูปแบบประโยค I feel …………………….. หรือ I am …………………………… เช่น I feel nauseous. (ฉันรู้สึกคลื่นไส้), I feel dizzy. (ฉันรู้สึกเวียนหัว), I am exhausted. (ฉันเพลีย), เป็นต้น ส าหรั บ การแสดงออก หากเป็ น รู ป แบบสากล มั ก จะใช้ รู ป แบบการจั บ มื อ (A handshake) ซึ่งโดยทั่วไปจะใช้มือขวา และ ทั้งสองฝ่ายควรจับมือกันโดยไม่ให้หลวมหรือแน่นจนเกินไป เพื่อแสดงความ จริงใจซึ่งกันและกัน และหากคู่สนทนาเป็นระหว่างผู้หญิงและผู้ชาย ควรให้ผู้หญิงยื่นมือก่อนจากนั้นผู้ชาย 1-7
