Entry

Pre-Prep

Children enter Reception aged four for full-time education. There are approximately 80 children in Pre-Prep, aged four to eight years. Our class sizes are small and, combined with generous ancillary help, the pupil/teacher ratio is exceptionally low. Children from our Pre-Prep will normally automatically pass into the Prep department. If the academic rigours of the Prep department seem unsuited to the child, the parent will be informed well in advance. This is not a common occurrence.

Prep

The preferred age of entry to the Prep School is when a child is eight, although later entries can always be considered. While there is no formal entrance exam to the Prep School, we will ask to see previous school reports and informally assess each child when they visit the School.

Registration & Admissions Procedure

If you wish to add your child to the entry list for admission, please contact Mrs Jossie Austen, in Admissions who will be delighted to arrange an appointment for you to visit Witham Hall, to meet members of staff and pupils and to discuss your child’s entry here. In all cases early registration is recommended.

Quality and breadth within a caring environment

Our specific aims are:

• to enable each child to attain a sense of achievement by providing a wide spectrum of opportunities within academia, art, drama, music, technology and sport

• to enable each child to foster positive attitudes towards learning and life

• to enable each child to develop self-disclipine which will allow him/her to progress with confidence and be sensitive to others in keeping with Witham’s Christian ethos

Arranging a visit

We like to plan a personal visit around your schedules and requirements. In this way we have the opportunity to meet each family personally and you have the chance to see the children at work and play.

Please call Mrs Jossie Austen on 01778 590222 or email her at admissions@withamhall.com for more information.

From the South, take the B668 turning signposted Oakham (Stretton, Greetham, Clipsham, Stocken) and at the end of the slip road turn right. At the roundabout take the third right (going under the A1) and then the second left through Stretton.

After leaving Stretton, continue to Clipsham and then to Castle Bytham. At the cross roads go straight over into Little Bytham.

Ahead you will see a large viaduct; turn right just before this, signposted towards Bourne.

Go down the hill, under 2 bridges, and after the 2nd bridge, turn immediately left towards Witham-on-the-Hill.

Follow this road and eventually you will see our School grounds on your right hand side.

Shortly afterwards turn right into the main entrance. Drive up the long driveway, and visitors parking is then signposted on your right opposite the main entrance.

From Stamford/Bourne and surrounding areas

From Stamford take the A6121 to Bourne. You will pass through the villages of Essendine, Ryhall and Carlby, then approach the signpost for Witham-on-the-Hill. Here, take the left turn and travel towards the village.

From Bourne take the A6121 to Stamford. You will pass through the village of Toft and then approach the signpost for Witham-on-theHill. Here, take the right turn and travel towards the village.

On entering the village go past the Six Bells public house, and then the church on your right.

You will shortly see the School on your left, but continue, passing a row of cottages on your right. Pass the good entrance on your left, and shortly afterwards turn left into the main entrance. Drive up the long driveway, and visitors parking is then signposted on your right opposite the main entrance.
