As we enter the new season of Winter, Witham Group have much to build upon and even more to explore to keep us busy in these colder months.
Over the past two quarters, our new customer numbers have continued to grow, which we are immensely proud of and humbled by in equal measure. With new exciting own label distributors and dealers looking to move over to our brands and seeing the immense value in using their own name and reputation to offer trusted products for their customers, we are delighted that our Own Label Service continues to expand.
Our diversity of customers continues to excite and grow also, with many new and innovative farming enterprises entering diversification. We are staggered by the number of projects taking place around the country, such as generating electricity through solar panels and wind turbines, by using available land for ground-mounted or farm building mounted roof installations, plus energy storage in batteries to manage supply and export excess power to the grid. Other methods include biomass energy, converting organic farm waste or growing specific crops for energy or fuel. These technologies reduce operational costs for farming enterprises, provide additional income streams, and promote greater energy independence. These innovations are not just happening within agriculture though, as numerous other sectors are taking on the challenge of running and operating in a more sustainable manner. Witham
Group support these new areas of progression, by offering helpful products such as our new Witham SolaBright Cleaner for Solar Panels and massive quantities of Qualube BioGas Engine Oils. In addition to this we offer biodegradable hydraulic oils, rust prevention, food and water safe ranges made from sheep’s lanolin, plus calcium greases now as the industry shifts away from the use of lithium.
Witham Group and its products are a key ingredient in this sustainable diversification, and we are excited about being involved with our customers at every level to help them achieve their goals.
Our products continue to be used within a huge array of bespoke and unique industries, such as the manufacture of firearms, shotguns, and hand tools. Our paint is now found on thousands of miles of wooden skirting boards and doors being installed throughout the UK on new housing and office projects, plus we continue to support a plethora of different UK machinery manufacturers supporting innovation and environmental projects within the UK and throughout the world. We have recently discussed and implemented a new regime of cleaning products at a large food factory based in Lincolnshire, and we continue to reformulate our standard products (if there is such a thing!) to meet our customers’ ever-expanding requirements.
Our continued focus on and development of creating carbon neutral, ultra-sound blending within the factory at Lincoln, has accelerated with Blendtek Solutions Ltd, our joint venture company, forging a new partnership with the global leading, ultrasound engineering German business Weber Entec. The process removes the need for traditional fossil fuels in the lubricant blending operation entirely and now, with their latest technology, we are slashing energy usage from solar power as well as reducing blend times even further.

Earlier in the summer, we were super excited to meet and speak to many of our customers at the Suffolk, Lincolnshire, and Royal Norfolk Shows (more about those later) and it was great to share ideas and ideals.
Understanding our customers’ expectations and demands, issues and ideas is key to our continued success, and I love this time spent discussing their businesses and solutioning with them.
The Show season is a very tough 6 weeks with the whole Witham Team pulling together to deliver on our ideas. A big thank you goes out to everyone involved, both at Witham Group and also our customers who supply us pieces of interesting machinery to proudly display on our stands.

Described as moving from analogue to digital, our findings are amazing and we are delighted to see the Blendtek process now across Asia and Europe and opening the lubricant industry’s eyes to the need to clean up its processes. We have proved it can be done already and our Team at Lincoln have been running further trials and testing of the new equipment which, so far, has produced exciting results. Blends that previously used 3kW of power (and that’s low compared to the circa 1950kW used in traditional gas heated blending) were recorded at using only 1.2kW of power, which is just truly remarkable and we look forward to reporting further on this as it develops.
I also had the chance to support the UKLA’s (United Kingdom Lubricants Association), VLS (Verification of Lubricant Specifications) mission on their stand at the Automechanika Show at the NEC in Birmingham. It gave me another chance to hear about all the issues and challenges facing the UK lubricant industry.
It made me immensely proud to know that despite some of the super competitive trading challenges we have discussed before, and are in the public domain, specifically around supplies of sanctioned product and non-approved / no candidate package technology other companies choose to use, Witham’s reputation continues to stand tall and is recognised in high esteem by the industry and our customers.

On a personal note, It was with huge honour that earlier in the year, I was proposed to be the President of the Sandringham Association of Royal Warrant Holders (SARWH) and in September I was appointed. This was an immensely proud moment. Following in the footsteps of many before me, including our retired Chair, and my father, Geoff Bottom, this prestigious appointment is testament to an unwavering commitment to excellence, a deep understanding of British manufacturing, sustainability and dedication to upholding the Royal Warrant's values.
For those unfamiliar, the Royal Warrant Holders Association (National) and the local Associations such as Sandringham, Windsor, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Highgrove, all represent companies and individuals who have been granted a Royal

New President Nigel and his father, Geoff, previous President of SARWH

These Warrants are a mark of recognition for those who have supplied goods or services to the Royal Households, signifying the highest standards of quality, service, and excellence.
Not every business that supplies the Royal Households receives a Royal Warrant and they are reviewed at regular intervals. Witham Group have held a Royal Warrant for more than 30 years and are immensely proud to do so. It is one of the highest accolades a business can achieve as the rigorous requirements of corporate, social and environmental governance are probably the toughest in the world.

As President of the SARWH, I will look to play a crucial role in upholding the exacting standards associated with the Royal Warrant and will work closely with fellow Warrant Holders to promote new partnerships, innovations, and ethical business practices and also raise as much money as we can for my chosen charity for the year, which is the Lincolnshire Rural Support Network (LRSN). LRSN is a dedicated charity, providing a lifeline for the agricultural and horticultural communities and allied industries in Lincolnshire, through one to one support, campaigns, physical health and wellbeing services.
I am deeply honoured to represent Witham Group and be appointed President of the Sandringham Association of Royal Warrant Holders and all that it represents.

With a full diary ahead and many existing projects to keep looking after, plus new adventures to understand and innovation to keep on top of, the Winter months look extremely exciting and rewarding. We will continue to work hard, think round problems and question how we can improve things. We will remain focused towards our customers, offering only the best delivery service, the best technical support, and ultimately make it as easy to do business with us, all whilst trying to be as sustainable as possible and as competitive as we can. Please remember that nearly all of our products and services are listed on our website, which is a helpful shop window for all of you to see how we might help you and also what we are up to on our news blog and social media pages.
At all times, I remain accessible and available so if any customer or contacts have any ideas you would like to share or would appreciate a simple chat about anything at all, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you, to you, our customers for your continued support of our products and service. Thank you also to Team Witham Group. I remain immensely proud of all this company achieves. Hard work does pay off and as you will see from the amazing content in this edition of the Oily Rag, the important things in business are never done just by one person; they are done by a Team of people, and we (bias maybe!) have the best Team!
Thank you. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Prosperous and Happy New Year!

Our summer of county shows was a great success! From sun-soaked days to the occasional downpour, our team worked hard to create eye-catching stands and it was fantastic to see the new Witham branding on display. As always, we thoroughly enjoyed catching up with customers new and old.

What a fantastic Lincolnshire Show! We had an incredible time seeing a record number of customers, and our stand was buzzing with activity. We were delighted to win the Joseph Nickerson Award for Best Stand Allied to Agriculture! This is a huge achievement and a testament to the hard work of the entire Witham team.
We had some fantastic guest exhibitors including Bailey Trailers, Crouch Recovery, Philip Watkins Ltd, Sands Agricultural Machinery, Truckmasters Handling Ltd and Weaving Machinery.
Thank you to everyone who visited our stand and made the show so special. It was a pleasure seeing you all and celebrating the show's 140th anniversary with the amazing Lincolnshire Showground team.

We had a fantastic start to the county show season at the Suffolk Show in Ipswich. A big thank you to our guest exhibitors, Weaving Machinery, Bailey Trailers and Agrifac UK who we are proud to say all use our lubricants and paints. It was great to catch up with familiar faces and meet new people who visited our stand.

We had a wonderful time at the prestigious Royal Norfolk Show and were thrilled to be awarded 2nd place for Best Trade Stand. This award recognises the most effective and well laid out display by an exhibitor engaged in supplying the needs of the agricultural community. Thank you to our special guest exhibitor, Sands Agricultural Machinery, for being part of our success. And of course, a huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand!

You might notice something different on the roads soon! As part of our exciting new branding update, we’ve been rolling out a fresh new livery across our entire delivery fleet.
We are proud of the new look, and we are working quickly to get every single vehicle updated by the end of the year. Keep a lookout for our updated trucks, they’ll be hard to miss and don’t forget to give a wave to our hard working Witham drivers!

To consistently meet our customer’s needs, we are upgrading to brand new 200-litre barrels for our larger volume deliveries.
We are shifting away from reconditioned barrels due to a national shortage of supply. In addition, this investment guarantees that the packaging you receive is always in optimal condition.
Importantly, these new barrels maintain our commitment to the environment as all barrels, once returned to us, will still be suitable for recycling, ensuring we continue to meet our sustainability objectives and new materials maintain a full cycle of use.

We are excited to share news of a significant upgrade in our quality control capabilities with the installation of a new Cold Crank Simulator (CCS) machine in our laboratory. This new technology dramatically increases our efficiency and speed when testing blended lubricants for customers. Where our previous machine could only test one sample at a time, the new unit is capable of autonomously testing up to 30 samples at a time, providing significant time savings for our customers.
A cold crank simulation test is a way of checking how easily an engine oil will let your engine start in very cold weather. When it’s freezing outside, oil gets thicker and flows more slowly, which can make the engine harder to turn over. In this test, a small amount of oil is cooled to a set low temperature and then “cranked” in a special machine that mimics an engine starting. The machine measures how much resistance the oil gives.
If an oil fails this test, it means the viscosity is too high, a potential recipe for hard starting on a cold and frosty morning. Our enhanced testing ability ensures that every batch we test will give our customers the confidence of a smooth start, regardless of the temperature.

We are excited to announce some new additions to our national partnership programme. From new car clubs to national countryside organisations, we have welcomed some great new businesses on board.
Our national partnerships benefit both parties by offering mutual exposure to products and services of Witham Group with member discounts, educational articles and features as well as factory tours and visits to see how lubricants and paints are made, as well as social media and promotional partnerships and sharing ideas and promoting the work of the clubs and organisations.

A warm welcome to our three newest drivers: Gary Vaul, Graham Walton & Phil Waller. Gary joins the Soham team and comes to us with great experience in agricultural deliveries from other local companies. A Soham resident himself, Gary will be driving our 7.5t truck in the Cambridgeshire and Suffolk area.
An ADR-qualified driver, Graham has joined the Lincoln team and has many years of longdistance delivery experience.
Phil Waller has also recently joined Witham Group following a thorough grounding in various aspects of truck driving, along with experience of 8 wheel bulkers as well as the roadside recovery work in the car & truck industry working both locally and nationally.
Phil and Graham will mainly be covering our regular runs, delivering to our customers in Yorkshire, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Newark, Spalding and Grantham areas. We are delighted to have them all on board.

Our new 2026 calendar, "It's what's on the inside that counts" is here. The theme represents our deep commitment to excellent products, service and values that sit at the very heart of Witham Group. Our products are not just what is on the inside of machinery, it is the excellence, quality, people and care that sit behind them. The calendar highlights the inner workings of machinery and the various parts of equipment that our products reach and we hope you enjoy hanging it up in your offices and workshops.

We are soon to welcome the wonderful LRSN (Lincolnshire Rural Support Network) Health Team nurses to Witham Group HQ at the end of November to conduct voluntary, on-site health checks for all our team. As part of our wish to support our team with wellbeing and health support as much as possible, we have taken up this great opportunity from LRSN as part of their corporate partnerships Health Check services.
Health checks include blood pressure, blood sugar testing, basic cholesterol testing, a simple eye check, and prediabetes screening. The LRSN nurses can also discuss any other health issues the team may have and explain medication to help you understand medical jargon. In addition to their knowledge of physical health, the nurses are also mental health first aiders, so they can be a friendly shoulder and someone to listen.
The LRSN nurses also offer private discussions to address any health questions and help our team understand complex medical information.
Witham Group MD Nigel R Bottom noted: "The LRSN health check team provides an invaluable service. We made a donation to the charity in exchange for an optional health check for all our team members. This was a small price to pay for such an important well-being check."
We are proud to support LRSN and encourage our team to prioritise their health! If you would like your business and its team to benefit from a health check, please contact LRSN for more information. LRSN.co.uk

Lincoln Rugby Club has scored a sustainability win this season, thanks to our friendly donation. As a long term supporter and partner, we were proud to provide the club with a number of reconditioned oil barrels, now cleverly repurposed as litter bins to be used around the grounds throughout the year.
The initiative not only supports Lincoln Rugby Club’s efforts to keep their facilities clean and tidy, but also highlights Witham Group’s ongoing commitment to recycling, reusing, and reducing waste wherever possible. The converted barrels, once used for our engine lubricants, have been cleaned and branded, giving them a second life that benefits the community and the environment alike.
“We’re always looking for practical ways to make sustainability part of everyday life,” said Nigel Bottom from Witham Group. “Donating these barrels is a simple but effective way to help a great local club.”
Lincoln Rugby Club members and supporters will now see the distinctive bins around the pitches and clubhouse, serving as a reminder that small actions, like reusing what you already have, can make a big difference both on and off the field.

In August, we participated in the Farmers Guardian’s National #FARM24 event by creating a video that featured footage and photos of our customers hard at work.
At Witham Group, we are proud to be one of the often “unseen” supports behind the scenes of British Agriculture. From supplying the vital lubricants that keep farm machinery performing reliably in the field, to providing the durable paints protecting barns and sheds from the elements, we are honoured to play a small part assisting in the hard work and dedication that goes into creating produce for the nation.
We are more than just a supplier; we have been a trusted partner to British Agriculture for over 104 years, providing high-quality, reliable products and advice and working hand in hand with farmers and landowners, working together on solutions for the unique demands of farm life.
At Witham, we believe in adding value that goes beyond our products. We know the summer harvest is the busiest time of year, and proper maintenance is crucial for maximising uptime.
That's why this season; we created and distributed our Pre-Harvest Maintenance Checklist. We were thrilled to hear how well it was received! Many of you found it useful enough to print and pin up in your workshops, helping to ensure your machinery was fully prepped.

This commitment to support is central to what we do. Look out for more of our expert-authored articles in the media and on our Latest News Blog, including subjects such as “Farm Lubricants Buying Guide” and “Essential Guide to Proper Greasing Frequency”. If you would like any advice or further information about how lubricants can help with fuel efficiency, have a free technical lubricant survey of your fleet to help rationalise

We've also recently had a focus on the Commercial Vehicle sector, committed to supporting this industry on how the right lubrication strategy can directly impact their bottom line.
Using premium, correctly specified lubricants is a critical factor in both fuel efficiency and protecting expensive modern engines. We are proud that our expertise in this field is being recognised externally. Our insights have been featured in several recent articles in Commercial Vehicles Workshop magazine, covering key topics such as:
• FUEL EFFICIENCY - How lower viscosity engine oils can help fleet owners save money.
• THE EVOLVING WORLD OF LUBRICANTS - Showcasing the latest technologies and how they can help businesses.
• THE IMPORTANCE OF QUALITY BRAKE FLUID - And the safety risks of what can happen if you don't get it right.

We continue to lead the conversation, helping commercial fleets and workshops make smarter lubrication choices, for cost savings, safety and the environment.

Farrow & Ball is a well-established luxury paint manufacturer known for its commitment to using the finest ingredients and sustainable production methods. They offer a beautiful range of popular, classic and contemporary colours. According to Trade Decorator magazine, Farrow & Ball have been ranked the largest decorating paint brand in growth over the past 5 years and continue to dominate the quality end of the paint market.
Becoming a Farrow & Ball stockist is a significant achievement for the Witham Group. Farrow & Ball stockists are chosen to share the same ethical and environmental commitments as themselves. We are committed to offering excellent service and availability of products, we will therefore be providing a full range, made to order.
Sample pots are now available to help customers decide on their colour choice, which can be sent out as modern emulsion ready to use to test your styling choices in different lights. Colour cards are also available on request. Discounts will be available for account customers of Witham Group.

Beyond their market growth and quality ingredients, here are some key selling points that set Farrow & Ball apart:
Farrow & Ball is famous for its high pigment content and the use of natural ingredients. This unique formulation gives their paints an extraordinary depth and complexity, creating subtle variations in colour depending on the light throughout the day. The colours are rich, beautifully nuanced, and appear far less flat than standard paints.
:
Their paint finishes, particularly their signature Estate Emulsion and Modern Emulsion, offer a distinctly chalky and ultra-matt appearance. This finish expertly diffuses light to hide minor surface imperfections, delivering a stunning, velvety aesthetic that is highly sought after by interior designers.
FOR INSIDE AND OUT:
We will be stocking and able to mix paints for both internal and external use, in all the usual finishes that F&B offer such as modern emulsion, dead flat and eggshell finishes.
All Farrow & Ball paints are water-based and carry an A+ rating for interior air quality. They have ultralow levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), making them virtually odourless and safer for you, your clients, and the environment. This commitment to sustainability is a major draw for modern projects.
Instead of overwhelming customers with thousands of similar shades, Farrow & Ball offers a carefully curated palette of just 132 colours. This simplifies the selection process, as every colour is designed to complement the others perfectly, ensuring harmonious schemes every time.

When standard lubrication isn’t enough, turn to our range of Specialist Greases. These advanced greases are engineered with the latest technology and high-performance additives to deliver exceptional reliability, reduce friction, and prolong the life of your critical equipment. Our highquality grease solutions, include products such as Lithium, Calcium, Silicone and Copper Greases, as well as Food Grade and High Temperature Greases.

Here we focus on a highly popular Boom Grease, which provides a specialist low friction layer between moving parts of telescopic booms on equipment like cranes and telehandlers. Our Qualube P.T.F.E. Boom Grease 2.5 is a premium quality lithium complex soap grease, reinforced with Extreme Pressure (EP), (polytetrafluoroethylene) P.T.F.E. and anti-corrosion agents.
Qualube P.T.F.E. Boom Grease 2.5 can be applied by hand, or by using a standard grease gun (400gm cartridges available), or via a central lubricating system capable of pumping an NLGI No.2 to 3 grease. As with all greases used for the first time, check compatibility with the grease applied previously and if necessary purge bearings prior to application. Likewise, as a general rule, take care not to over-lubricate and apply the quantity of grease recommended by the bearing manufacturer.

• Good mechanical stability extends lubrication intervals.
• Excellent load carrying and shock load resistance properties reduces premature component wear.
• High level of water resistance ensures long lubricant service life.
• Full corrosion protection of working surfaces reduces component costs.
To find out more about how our greases can help you reduce friction and operation issues and increase output, contact your local depot or Sales Representative today.
Europa Limited, our supplier for cardboard boxing and packaging, are now able to provide us with products that are made of 87% recycled content, with the remaining 13% coming from sustainably managed sources.
They hold the FSC Chain of Custody (CoC) certification, ensuring that products with the FSC label can be traced back to responsibly managed forests or controlled sources. It verifies that FSC-certified wood and wood derived materials are tracked at every stage and separated from non-certified materials throughout the supply chain, from the forest to the finished product. This certification guarantees that the product's forest-based components originate from sustainable, well managed and approved sources.
This adds a further improvement to our ongoing commitment to use as much recycled or recyclable materials in our packaging and we continue to drive our suppliers in this area.

Our new 5 litre Woco Barn Paint containers are now made from 100% recycled plastic – great news for customers who have sustainability goals. We are also looking at other similar types of recycled containers for other ranges within our paint offering.

We have recently installed several new electric vehicle (EV) chargers at our Lincoln car park. This initiative-taking step prepares our fleet for the future as we welcome new hybrid and fully electric vehicles to our HQ.
These new chargers will make it easy to keep our new fleet powered, a hybrid vehicle can be fully charged in just 2-3 hours, and a fully electric vehicle taking around 6 hours to get a complete charge. This is a key part of our commitment to a more sustainable future for Witham and our visitors.

We have recently launched a new initiative to reduce plastic waste: a trial of reusable pallet wraps from Palband Ltd. This innovative system eliminates the need for single-use plastic wrap (shrink wrap). Made from durable materials, these wraps can be used and returned thousands of times, which will save us significant time and money in our distribution system.
Beyond just reducing waste, the Palband wraps offer several other benefits:
• IMPROVED LOAD STABILITY
• TIME SAVINGS IN THE WRAPPING PROCESS
• INCREASED SECURITY AND LOSS PREVENTION DURING TRANSPORT
After an initial consultation, we purchased two wraps to test on deliveries to our Soham depot. The blue wrap, designed for our standard 32 x 25 litres pallets, has performed exceptionally well. The black wrap is currently with Palband for adjustments to better fit our larger, more unusually sized pallets.
If this trial continues to be successful, we expect to save approximately 1.5kg of plastic wrap per pallet on these internal deliveries. Our goal is to make this a more costeffective solution so we can expand the trial and make an even bigger impact on our plastic waste reduction objectives.

Supply chains account for a significant portion of a company's environmental footprint, so supply chain engagement is particularly important to align with legislation, manage operational risks, and track Environmental Social and Corporate Governance performance. A new suppliers questionnaire will now be rolled out for all existing and new suppliers to ensure we capture vital information about the risk and quality of our suppliers and how suitable they are in terms of their journey and achievements on environmental, social and corporate governance.

The Witham Group is proud to join the Royal Warrant Holders Association’s (RWHA) new Nature Recovery Initiative, launched in collaboration with Planet Mark. This critical program mobilises Warrant-holding companies to improve biodiversity and enhance nature’s capital across the UK.
Our natural environment is in crisis: Since 1970, our UK species have declined by an average of 19%. Nature and biodiversity is our life support system which is deeply connected with climate change. As a RWHA member, Witham has accepted the challenge to help reverse this trend and demonstrate the business value of ecological restoration.

Some of the initiatives we will be considering expanding on include:
Greenery improves air quality and boosts staff creativity by 15%.
Extensive green roofs, featuring low-growing, drought-tolerant plants, are ideal for nature recovery.
Build visible structures, potentially from factory materials, to support local pollinators and pest control.
Restore existing boundary hedgerows with native species to create valuable wildlife habitats.
Create new natural habitats to help combat the 97% loss of UK species-rich grassland.
Install boxes outdoors to encourage nesting.
We need your help! We are calling on our customers and suppliers to come up with ideas for initiatives that we can work jointly on to improve the nature and environment of the workplace. We are looking for organisations who we could work with to implement joint wildlife schemes so if you have any ideas or are interested in taking part, please contact: Ali Bottom at ali.bottom@withamgroup.co.uk

Our Blendtek ultrasonic lubricant blending project is making a significant leap forward! We are thrilled to announce a new strategic partnership with Weber-Entec, a German engineering firm specialising in ultrasonic technologies. This collaboration brings together the best of both worlds: Weber-Entec's engineering excellence and our deep application expertise in the lubricants industry.
This partnership will help us develop and market an upgraded, high-tech blending system that sets new industry standards. By refining and perfecting ultrasonic blending, the new system aims to meet the growing demands for sustainability, energy efficiency, and superior product quality.
Blendtek was the original brainchild of, Nigel Bottom, our MD, and Mick Kenyon, our previous Operations & Technical Director. So far, we've demonstrated how our unique ultrasonic technology can drastically improve our production processes. By using this technology instead of fossil fuels, we've been able to reduce our gas consumption by over 93% in recent years and with this truly pioneering innovation, we believe we were the first company in the world to achieve a true carbon-neutral blending process.
Now, we have partnered with Weber Entec, the technology advances of ultrasound has helped us further. Testing in our factory has shown that blending times and the energy used have reduced even further. The idea is to now highlight to all global lubricant manufacturers that there is a way to blend products that should be the way forward in a greener, cleaner world.
"We are truly excited about this partnership," said Jochem Verheij, who oversees sales and business Development at Blendtek. "Together with Weber Entec, we are upgrading our proven ultrasonic blending model into a high-tech solution that sets new standards for the lubricants industry. We have ambitious plans for the future, and this collaboration allows us to scale faster, serve customers better, and continue shaping a more sustainable production landscape."

Jan Talkenberger, Sales Manager at Weber Entec, echoed this sentiment: "For us at Weber Entec, this cooperation is a natural fit. Ultrasonic blending is a technology we have refined to perfection, and with Blendtek's market knowledge and customer focus, we can translate this into real value for lubricant producers. We are very pleased with this partnership and look forward to the many opportunities it creates in the years ahead."

We are thrilled to announce that we've delivered our first bulk engine and hydraulic oils order for Eurotunnel. This is a significant milestone for us, as our oil will be used on the Eurostar trains and most of the passenger and car shuttle trains operating out of Folkestone. In addition, our products will be used in the support vehicles based at the depot. We are now with the Eurotunnel team to supply our isocyanate free paint for their trains, which would further expand our partnership with this key client.
We are thrilled to be working with Selkent, a massive supplier of fastenings, fixings, and tools for the construction, rail, and civil engineering industries in Kent. This is a huge win for us and an excellent chance to build our presence in these important markets.
Selkent is a family run business that has been supplying construction and infrastructure projects across the UK for more than 35 years. Stocking more than 8,500 product lines ranging from nuts and bolts to site equipment including generators and safety equipment, Selkent operates from its operational hubs in London and Birmingham and has recently opened a new depot in Ipswich. Running a fleet of 16 vehicles ranging from 18 tonne trucks to 3 ½ tonne electric vans, Selkent offers a nationwide next day delivery service, with a same day service within the M25, and makes around 250 deliveries a day to customers.

We were very honoured to attend the Thurlow Nunn Standen’s (TNS) Annual Conference & Awards Dinner earlier in the year. A fantastic event that brought together industry leaders for insightful discussions and collaboration.
This event formed part of its landmark 150th anniversary celebrations, as the company reached their incredible 150 years of trading this year. To mark this milestone TNS have committed to raising £150,000 for Dementia UK, a cause close to the family’s heart. James Thurlow, the current Chair of the group, lost his father and previous Chair, John Thurlow, to dementia last June.
We were therefore thrilled to see TNS and everyone involved raise an incredible £24,000. This was a fantastic achievement and a great way to celebrate the amazing achievements of the TNS Group and our decades of generations of relationships with them.

We had a brilliant day at the Props & Pistons Show on August Bank Holiday at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre.
The weather was perfect, drawing a huge crowd to see the incredible display of power and history. Hundreds of supercars were lined up next to amazing classic aircraft.
A special highlight was the spectacular air displays. It was a great opportunity to connect with both new and existing customers who share a passion for engineering and machinery, from the ground to the sky.
A fantastic transformation happened in Norfolk recently with one of our farming customers wanting to refurbish their Bailey Trailer ready for the busy summer pea harvest.
We were happy to help, supplying our Woco Supercote Primer / Undercoat and then finishing the job with Woco Supercote Gloss in ‘Bailey Green’. The results speak for themselves, the trailer looks incredible. It’s a great example of how our products can help a valued customer save money and breathe new life into their equipment.

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with Oakfields Ag Ltd, a prestigious vintage and classic tractor dealer in Essex, where we have recently installed bulk storage tanks at their site. Oakfields Ag Ltd has been a respected name in the agricultural industry for over 40 years. They are known not only for their high-quality vintage and classic tractors but also for providing a wide range of modern farm equipment and machinery. Their strong reputation and deep roots in the community make them a great company to be associated with. We are proud to be working with such a well-regarded business and look forward to a long and successful partnership.

The Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre, located at the former RAF Metheringham site in Lincolnshire, is a fantastic museum dedicated to preserving wartime history. The team there has recently completed an incredible project: the restoration of a 1944 C-47A Douglas Dakota aircraft, a true icon of its time. To protect this magnificent plane, they built a brand-new hangar.
The team at the centre wanted the hangar to look as good as the aircraft it housed. They needed a durable, smart finish for the floor that would complement the recently painted steel structure and be easy to touch up. Our team recommended our single-pack Woco Koverflor paint in Pale Grey.
Ian Brett from the centre was extremely pleased with the results. "Witham suggested a single pack Koverflor paint in Pale Grey would be ideal for this," he said. "We used a little more than expected as the finish is rough, but the final appearance is topnotch and seems to be very tough."
The new floor has made a big impact. "The pale grey Koverflor paint finish for the concrete walkways has proven to be very durable, and several visitors have commented on the clean and bright appearance in the Dakota Hangar," Ian added. "The feedback from the public about the appearance of the hangar has been good this
season, with several saying that it looks fresh and bright inside. I think the pale grey Koverflor has helped with that particularly and it seems to be wearing very well."
We are proud to have supported the Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre in this project and delighted that Ian and his team are pleased with our paint products , advice and service. If you have a floor paint project but not sure how to tackle it or what paint is best for your surface, just contact us and we will be happy to help.

It's always great to hear from long-standing customers, and this story from Guy Ingamells is a perfect example of the quality that stands the test of time.
Guy, an agricultural contractor, recently shared a fond memory of us visiting him at home when he was just starting his business back in 2003. Among his first orders was an Alemite 500 side lever grease gun.
Fast forward 22 years, and that same grease gun is still in service! While it's seen countless grease cartridges and a fair amount of wear, it's a testament to its durability. Guy mentioned that after two decades, the wear and tear have resulted in a slightly smaller amount of grease per pump.
After 22 years of loyal service, Guy decided it was time to upgrade and, without hesitation, chose another Alemite 500. The old gun won't be retired completely; it will remain on standby as a reliable back up and is a great reminder of the trust and quality that builds lasting partnerships.

Another amazing restoration from the Yorkshire workshop of Andrew and Ronan Marwood recently was a 1976 Ford 7000, which was the first mass produced tractor in England to be fitted with a turbocharger as standard.
Introduced in 1971, this tractor, with its 4.2L, 93hp engine, became a firm favourite with large scale farmers and contractors. Now highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, this one has been restored both mechanically and cosmetically, using our products, for the owner by father and son team, Andrew and Ronan Marwood.
Andrew went through the tractor from front to back, ensuring everything was put back how it was when built. His many years spent working with Ford Tractors shows in his knowledge of this era of tractor, and his attention to detail is second to none.
Ronan is the bodywork and paint magician of the duo. As parts were obtained, mended, straightened etc, they then went into the paint shop for preparation and paint. Final assembly was completed just in time for the tractor to appear at in the June Newby Hall Tractor Fest, near Ripon.
The blue and grey paint used, along with primer / undercoat were from our Woco Supercote range of machinery enamel paints, with lubricants supplied throughout the engine and transmission from our Qualube range of agricultural oils.

AFTER BEFORE

"I
need some paint matching" is a call we hear often, and recently we helped bring a pair of classic Gardner Engines back to life.
A Gardner engine is a type of durable and reliable diesel engine, once built by the British company L. Gardner & Sons and known for its high torque, long working life, and fuel efficiency.
These robust engines were used in a wide range of applications, including marine craft, buses, trucks, and industrial railways. While production of new engines ceased in the 1990s, many models remain in use today, particularly in classic boats and vehicles.
Using a large sample of the original metal, we used our paint spectrophotometer to perfectly match the existing paint that was at least 50 years old. The results speak for themselves, and it's a great example of how our paint-matching service can help with even the most specialised projects.
It is also a reminder that our paint matching service isn’t just available from a colour fan, RAL or BS colour match and can be taken from the existing paint itself. The product used in this case was our 108 Heat Resisting Gloss, able to withstand the long term exposure to temperature generated when the engine is running.

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Law Farming, a diverse agricultural business with locations across the Essex, Hertfordshire, and Cambridgeshire borders. We recently installed new oil tanks at their workshop to support their farm machinery and help offer a clean and sustainable workshop environment.
Law Farming is a fantastic example of a business that prioritises sustainability. They are part of the countryside stewardship schemes and farm to LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) standards. This means at least 10% of their land is dedicated to supporting mammals, insects, and ground-nesting birds. Our bulk storage tanks help the business reduce the use of plastic containers and helps identify and cleanly store all the lubricants they need for the farm.

Earlier this year one of our old contacts, now at MV Commercial, called us. He wanted us to supply bulk storage tanks, oils, and equipment for his new company.
We met the directors at MV Commercial's impressive 68-acre site in Grantham. This site also houses Fruehauf, the well-known trailer manufacturer. After conducting a thorough lubrication survey, we created a recommendation report to help rationalise all the lubricants used in their fleet of vehicles .
We are now delighted to have supplied and installed three 2,200-litre tanks for them: one for Masterfleet 10w-40, one for Supremol 5w- 30, and a waste oil tank. Our extensive survey helped us determine these two products as their main needs. Since we installed the new tanks, pumps, and digital meters, the customer has reported that their work is much easier and more efficient, with less oil waste, which will lead to long-term savings.
Let us help you transform your workshop and become more sustainable. If you are interested in getting bulk storage tanks for your business, please get in touch. They are free to our customers and we will guide you through the installation process and colour code them for you.
One of our customers who owned a beloved vintage tractor recently used our Supercote Light Grey Massey Ferguson paint to spruce it up in time for his daughter’s wedding. The treasured classic looked stunning outside the wedding venue to welcome all the guests.
If you would like to transform your machinery or metalwork, contact us about our Woco Supercote paint range.

In June, we were delighted to attend the charity open day at the incredibly new Sands Sprayers factory in Norfolk. It was a brilliant day, and we were proud to support the event, which raised over £5,000 for Blood Cancer UK. Neal Sands, founder and owner, was joined by his son and fellow Director Tom for their great event with customers and suppliers.
We have a long-standing relationship with Sands Sprayers, and we are proud to supply our paints and lubricants for their award-winning crop spraying machines. It was fantastic to see our floor paints and other products playing an important part in their amazing new factory and share their success to support such a worthwhile cause together.

We had great time at the Fram Farmers Mowness Hall Trials Day in Suffolk. We are proud to be a supplier to the Fram Farmers membership group, which is one of the largest farmer-owned cooperatives in the UK. The event was a fantastic opportunity to catch up with our existing customers and meet some new ones and help support farmers with expert knowledge and tailored solutions.
The Mowness Hall Trials Day is an annual event hosted by Fram Farmers, often in partnership with other agricultural companies like BASF and Walnes Seeds, where farmers can see crop trials, connect with suppliers, and network with other farmers before harvest.

We are excited to announce our new own label partnership with DJ Agri Services, an agricultural machinery servicing workshop that serves Suffolk, south Norfolk, and south Cambridgeshire. In addition to their expert repair services, they also sell McCormick Tractors and Teagle machinery and parts.
Having designed all their new lubricant labels, DJ Agri Services recently placed their first order for their own brand of oils, and they were thrilled with the result. Their team shared, "We are thrilled to have the oils that are needed when servicing and repairing all ages of tractors and machinery, all we want to do is to keep farmers farming."

We love hearing how our products help customers, and we recently received a great story about one of our farming customers. He used our Qualube All Farm 3 Oil to prepare his classic tractor for a local event called: A Field of Friends
They are a community group for farmers and tractor enthusiasts, and Spilsby Young Farmers organised a local ploughing match where visitors could see classic farm machinery working the fields.
Our Qualube All Farm 3 Oil is a popular choice for older and vintage tractors. This Super Tractor Oil Universal (STOU) is specifically formulated to provide outstanding performance and is perfect for a single-fluid system.
It's amazing to see these vintage machines in action, and we are so proud that our oil is helping preserve them for events like this.

Huge congratulations to our customer Simon DeVos and his team at Vospower Ltd on their incredible new personal best at last week's race meeting at Santa Pod Raceway. Simon, who specialises in repairing and rebuilding all types of engines and transmissions—especially American muscle cars—achieved a blistering 10.3-second over the quarter mile track.
This impressive feat was accomplished in his '57 Chevy "gasser," which is powered by a monstrous 8.8-litre (535 ci) Big Block Ford engine that he built himself. With over 900 horsepower, this car is a true powerhouse.
Simon recently switched to our Qualube Classic 20W/50 oil after noticing that his previous "racing" oil might not be the best option, especially given the fuel dilution that can occur with such a highhorsepower engine and this type of racing. Simon noted a significant improvement, specifically seeing much better oil pressure readings after a race, particularly when returning to the pits.
This new personal best of 10.3 seconds is a massive improvement, shaving five to six-tenths of a second off his previous best time from earlier this year. What a fantastic result!

We are incredibly proud to share a momentous milestone for a project that has been close to our hearts for years which is the completion of the "On Freedom's Wings" Lancaster Bomber sculpture, now erected on the A46 in Lincolnshire, near Norton Disney. After 8 years of hard work and dedication, this iconic tribute now stands tall and proud, a symbol of remembrance and a gateway to Lincolnshire, "Bomber County."
From the very beginning, Witham Group has been honoured to play a part in bringing this vision to life. From donating the paint, to Ali Bottom supporting the fundraising committee, the sculpture honours the RAF crews of World War II and is close to the former site of the old RAF Swinderby, which from 1942 onwards, was the home of the 50 Squadron flying Lancaster bombers. “On Freedom's Wings” is a full size representation of an Avro Lancaster Mk1 bomber, with each wing reaching to over 47 feet and tilted to give the impression of the plane banking as it approaches the old airfield two miles away.
As a Lincolnshire-based company, we understand the deep connection our county has to its aviation history and the immense sacrifice of those who served in Bomber Command during World War II.
Our involvement in this project was more than just a contribution; we are so proud to help preserve our local heritage and honour those who gave everything for our freedom. We have been honoured to supply the paint for the stanchions that supports the sculpture's core steel structure.

Many of our customers were also involved in the project; a convoy of lorries carried the structure from Timmins Engineering & Construction Ltd, near Market Rasen where the outer skin was fabricated in Corten steel, to the site. Cranes and transport from Hutchinson Engineering Ltd, were used to lift it into place and over the next 48 hours the Lancaster was safely secured in place. Charlie White, the landowner who donated the land to the project and has been Chair of the charity, is also one of our customers and said it was "fantastic" to see the sculpture go up after nearly eight years of work "I can't believe it," he added.

Nigel Bottom, Witham Group MD said: "We are delighted to play a small part in this amazing project"
It has taken the Bomber County Gateway Trust many years of fundraising, planning and volunteers’ hard work to arrive at this point, where thousands of motorists who drive between Newark and Lincoln each day will see the sculpture. The site is now open to the public as a striking landmark on the A46 and is truly a sight to behold. We are thrilled to have played a small part in this amazing project which leaves a long lasting legacy for many years to come.

The Lucy Lavers boat celebrates her tenth year afloat in Wells next the Sea since her restoration, which culminated with her return to Dunkirk in 2015 for the 75th anniversary of the evacuation of troops from France.
In August, our Chairman, Geoff Bottom, and his friends were invited aboard the Lucy Lavers to lead the Maritime Festival and Flotilla at the Wells Carnival, and we were thrilled to see the Witham Group flag flying. Built in 1939, the Lucy Lavers played a vital role in the 1940 Dunkirk evacuation.

After years of service, she was restored and even returned to Dunkirk for the 75th anniversary of the evacuation.
We are proud to continue our support for the Lucy Lavers and the restoration team at Rescue Wooden Boats. To help keep this historic vessel in excellent condition, we donated our high-quality WOCO Marine Gloss paint and a range of engine lubricants.

Back in the summer of this year we were delighted to support the annual charity golf day hosted by Woldmarsh Producers in aid of the Lincolnshire Rural Support Network (LRSN) at Elsham Golf Course. The weather was warm and sunny, a welcome change for the more than 100 players who participated.
We were happy to provide our famous golf-themed cupcakes, which were a big hit with players and supporters alike during the half-time refreshments. A big thank you to Good Little Party Food for supplying them again this year!

LRSN commented: "We had a great day at Elsham Golf Club for our annual golf day with Woldmarsh Producers. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the teams, the volunteers, the team at Woldmarsh Producers and especially all the sponsors that helped to make the day possible."

We supported the Swaton Vintage Day, a spectacular event that brought thousands of visitors to see a huge array of vintage and classic vehicles. From classic cars and tractors to motorcycles and stationary engines, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
A highlight of the day was the World Egg Throwing Championships, which drew competitors from around the globe from as far afield as Malaysia, Poland, Italy, and Germany. In the Russian Egg Roulette opponents smashed hard boiled eggs against their foreheads until the loser found the uncooked one!

We recently had the pleasure of donating some paint to a community project in Cookley, Suffolk, where a team of villagers were determined to restore an old K6 telephone box.
The paint supplied was WOCO Supercote Undercoat & WOCO Supercote Gloss. The project was a huge success, and we were so happy to receive this wonderful email from Colin St Aubyn:
"I would like to thank you and your company for your kind donation of the paint we used during the renovation of the phone box. Mike Porter of Porter Farms recommended your paint when we first considered bringing this British icon back to life. The task seemed daunting; years of neglect had taken their toll, and the box had become home to spiders and weeds!
A few villagers rallied round and we got to work. With a loaned petrol generator and an array of power tools, we were able to strip most of the old paint, lichen, and debris in half the time. After hours of sanding, we applied the first coat of grey
primer. It went on easily and covered really well, so we applied a second coat later that day. The second coat helped cover some of the trickier areas, so when we finally applied the red topcoat, the result was remarkable!
We are really pleased with how the box looks now and must say that we all found your paint to be of top quality and a joy to use. It was especially great for cutting-in around the many windows and floating into tricky sections. We have decided to name the box 'Giles,' after Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, who designed the K6 phone box in the 1920s. Again, thank you for your generous donation of both paints."
It's projects like these that remind us how our products can play a part in preserving a piece of history and we are thrilled with the result!

The Witham Group is committed to supporting Young Farmers’ Clubs (YFCs). We view them as a cornerstone of our rural landscape and the future of many industries we serve. Their vital work ensures the countryside remains vibrant and thriving for generations to come.

The recent National Young Farmers’ Week celebrated the incredible work of YFCs nationwide under the theme ‘YFC makes a difference.’
Despite the name, YFCs are much more than farming clubs; they are the unsung heroes of our rural communities. They provide a vibrant network for young people aged 10 to 28, regardless of their background or whether they are from a farming family.
YFCs are a vital social hub where young people develop essential life skills in a fun and supportive environment. Through a wide array of activities, including public speaking, debating, charity fundraising, and competitions, they help shape the next generation of rural leaders.
Members forge friendships, build confidence, nurture an appreciation for the countryside, and develop invaluable skills like teamwork and event organisation by supporting local causes.
This year, we proudly supported Lincolnshire Young Farmers by donating Woco Supercote paint for their decorated trailers at the Lincolnshire Show. Supplying paint to over 10 clubs, we saw incredible creativity as each group built a trailer reflecting their local town.
We also held a social media competition for the most creative post showing the trailer decorating process. Well done to all the clubs - we loved seeing our products bring their hard work and visions to life!
In addition, Witham Group are proud to support many Young Farmer clubs with talks and visits to the Witham HQ and helping out at their events whenever we can.

The Witham Group is delighted to continue its ongoing support for the Lincolnshire Rural Support Network (LRSN), a vital organisation that provides a lifeline of care and support to farming and rural people across the county.
As mentioned earlier, our MD, Nigel Bottom, recently announced he has selected them as his 'Presidential Charity of the Year' for his year ahead as President of the Sandringham Royal Warrant Holders Association. Our Marketing Director, Ali Bottom is also a Trustee for the Charity, sitting on the main board and helping advise the charity and all its amazing work.
This summer, we invited LRSN to share our stand at the Lincolnshire Show. Recognising that they didn't have their own shelter, we also donated a gazebo for them to use at future events.
At the show, the LRSN team encouraged visitors to jump on a spin bike to help them reach a collective goal of 500km, matching the distance covered by their incredible volunteers who were taking part in June with a sponsored 'Lincolnshire 500' cycle ride around the boundary of Lincolnshire.
Thanks to a great effort from everyone who took part, our stands spin bike riders contributed an impressive 240km!

We love welcoming visitors to our headquarters and manufacturing factory in Lincoln! From car clubs and farming groups, to college students and engineers, we host a wide range of visitors who are all keen to learn about our products and processes. Every tour offers an insightful talk on the world of oils, lubricants, and paints, covering everything from how they're made to the history of the Witham Group. The visit culminates in a technical Q&A session and a full factory tour. Recently, we were thrilled to host two classic car clubs; the PRE-WAR AUSTIN SEVEN CLUB and the JAGUAR ENTHUSIASTS’ CLUB who on separate visits,

What began as a simple request for a few Witham mugs for the staff room has led to a much more meaningful donation to Ely College in Cambridgeshire.
We are delighted to have provided the college with our surplus office furniture which was in storage at our Soham depot, including a number of desk chairs and tables. We are really pleased that the furniture will now be put to good use, helping to create a more functional learning environment for students and staff.
Beyond the furniture, we also supplied a new inventory of paint to assist the college with their summer maintenance and renovation programme. We are proud to know our resources have found such a great new home and purpose!
both received a detailed behind-the-scenes tour at our blending plant. Club members got to see exactly how we craft our high-quality lubricants and learned about the rich history and passion for innovation that continues to drive the Witham Group today. Nigel, our MD, led the visits, offering a deep dive into the world of lubricants, paints and oil blending. The feedback from the clubs was fantastic. The Chairman of the JEC shared, "Just to say a great big thank you for your hospitality to JEC members last night. It was a fascinating, interesting, and enjoyable insight into the work that you do with oils, and everyone enjoyed it."

Sometimes a paint matching request turns into an exciting, long-running project. About three years ago, our longtime customer of over 30 years, Neil Ayres, contacted us with a request to match some red paint.

After some investigation, we discovered the paint was for a Clayton and Shuttleworth Agricultural Engine that Neil was restoring, along with the living accommodation it tows. We supplied our Supercote Primer Undercoat and Topcoat, which were perfectly matched to the original paint found on the machine's metal parts. For the wooden living accommodation trailer, we matched and supplied Sadolin Superdec for the internals woodwork and Woco Supercote for the exterior.
The engine is now fully restored and has been a star at local events, including the recent Haddenham Steam Rally, where it was a sight to behold.

We are proud to have partnered with a local school to support its green initiatives! We recently donated a 1,000-litre Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) to St. Lawrence Primary School in Skellingthorpe, which is working hard to become more sustainable.
The school is using the IBC as a large water butt to collect rainwater. This will be used to water new trees planted around the school's perimeter. This project not only helps the environment but also teaches students about the importance of conservation.
A representative from the school shared their excitement, saying, "The children can't wait to get their new water butt up and running to help with the replanting of trees and many more sustainable projects in the near future."

This summer, we were proud to support the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) at their annual charity clay shoot. The event was a huge success, raising an amazing £50,000 for the GWCT and Farleigh Hospice in Essex. We were delighted to contribute to this fantastic total by donating prizes of our high-quality gun oils and cleaners.
GWCT is a leading UK‐based conservation charity that has been studying how to manage farmland, woodland and associated habitats in ways that benefit both wildlife and people. They carry out rigorous scientific research into game birds and other countryside wildlife, and how farming, land‐management, habitat restoration and predator control can work to halt and reverse wildlife declines. Their work helps by providing practical advice and training to farmers, landowners and gamekeepers, translating research into landmanagement practices that improve biodiversity and ecosystem health, so that the countryside becomes richer in wildlife for the greater good of us all.
Our relationship with the GWCT continues to grow, and we are proud to supply our products to their farm in Leicestershire, supporting their vital conservation work.

One of The Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum’s vehicles dear to our hearts, the “Old Qualube Bus” as we call it, was spotted twice this summer. Once driving around the streets of Lincoln on VE day and another still looking magnificent in front of the Lincoln Cathedral.

ENGINE
ALL YEAR ROUND
As the temperatures start to drop and winter rolls in, it’s what’s inside your engine that really counts. Just like Witham Group’s ethos of quality, care and expertise from the inside out, the right antifreeze and coolant plays a vital role in keeping your vehicles and machinery running smoothly, no matter the weather.
At Witham Group, we know that reliability starts beneath the surface. Our range of highperformance antifreeze and coolants are designed to protect engines across every sector, from cars and vans to commercial fleets, agricultural equipment, construction and plant machinery.
Antifreeze isn’t just about stopping water from freezing. It’s the lifeblood of your engine’s cooling system, preventing corrosion, overheating, and costly breakdowns all year round. As temperatures fluctuate, coolant condition can deteriorate, reducing its ability to protect metal components and seals inside your engine.
That’s why topping up or replacing your antifreeze ahead of the cold season is essential. Your vehicle is under pressure in high and low temperatures and neglecting it can lead to:
❄ Frozen or cracked engine blocks
̲ Overheating and breakdowns
ǡ Corrosion and rust inside cooling systems
Z Reduced fuel efficiency and performance

Witham’s comprehensive range of automotive, commercial, agricultural and industrial antifreeze and coolants offers solutions for every engine type and application, all formulated with advanced inhibitors and long-life technology to meet OEM and modern standards.
Whether you need ready-to-use or concentrated products, our antifreeze range provides:
✓ Exceptional frost protection down to extreme temperatures
✓ Long-lasting corrosion resistance for all metals and alloys
✓ Compatibility with a wide range of vehicle systems
✓ Quality assurance backed by British manufacturing standards
By flushing and filling your system with our biodegradable Qualube MPG Coolant, you create a protective layer that prevents freezing, corrosion, and scale build-up, ensuring everything runs smoothly when warmer weather returns.

As the colder months approach, it’s also what’s on the inside that really counts when it comes to protecting your caravan, boat, holiday home or motorhome. Whether your vehicle is parked up on the drive or stored away until spring, proper winterisation is vital to prevent costly damage. That’s where Witham Bio Antifreeze comes in, the safe, environmentally responsible way to protect your caravan’s internal water systems from freezing and cracking during the winter months. When temperatures drop below zero, the water left inside pipes, pumps, taps, and tanks can freeze, expand and cause serious internal damage. Replacing burst fittings or split tanks can be expensive and time-consuming, not the way anyone wants to start their next adventure!
Unlike traditional glycol-based antifreeze, our Qualube MPG Coolant is:
Non-Toxic and Biodegradable, safe for use in drinking water systems
Ideal for caravans, motorhomes, boats and holiday homes
Protects against freezing, corrosion and scale
Made with renewable materials and manufactured to the highest UK standards
It’s designed to protect both your vehicle and the environment and is a small step that can save big repair bills, and keep your adventures running smoothly year after year.
So, when it comes to your vehicles, just like with our people, our service, and our products, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. Keep your vehicles reliable this winter, they need to work hard under challenging temperatures and conditions this winter.
Contact us today for advice about which antifreeze is best for you and your fleet and stay protected. Alternatively, you can discover our full range of antifreeze and coolants on our website.

As global economic pressures mount, business owners across agriculture, plant, off-road, and commercial fleet sectors are re-evaluating how they manage their machinery. Rather than investing in expensive new equipment, the focus has shifted to preservation, preventative maintenance, and performance enhancement of existing assets. Here we take a look at some of the key reasons driving this change and how Witham Group is ready and waiting to help you.
Modern machinery is increasingly sophisticated and expensive. A new tractor or combine harvester can cost £100,000 to £500,000 or more, depending on the specification. The cost of taking out finance for these purchases is no longer as affordable for many farmers and when you work out what the loan repayment total is, more and more agricultural businesses are turning to more efficient maintenance to help them keep working out in the field.
Many newer machines come packed with technology that some farmers don’t need or can’t fully utilise. Some prefer to stick with older, simpler, more familiar models that are easier (and cheaper) to repair and maintain themselves or locally. High costs of repairs of modern machinery is also pointing to looking after existing machinery better as we enter a new era of self maintenance and care.
Ongoing supply chain disruptions mean that delivery times for new machinery can be long and unreliable. Farmers can’t afford to wait months for a new machine during a critical season like harvest or silage. Maintenance ensures the equipment they already own can stay operational when it’s needed most.
Farming businesses are operating in a time of volatility, with rising fuel, fertiliser and feed costs rising sharply whilst commodity prices for milk, wheat, other crops and beef are fluctuating. The post Brexit world of trade rules, reduction or removal of subsidies and the changing world of sustainable farming incentives and capital grants has been a minefield to fathom.
With tighter margins, farmers and many other allied businesses are more cautious than ever with spending and are choosing to sweat their assets rather than upgrade them. This means maximising their use, extending their lifespan to lower the need to have to replace the whole asset or expensive working parts.

Transport and machinery are the biggest contributor to the high fatality rate that agriculture endures. One of the easiest ways of keeping all workers safe is by ensuring all the equipment is properly maintained and suitable for the intended tasks. This can apply to any piece of equipment including tractors, trailers, ATVs, towed appliances, farm vehicles and handheld machines.
Not only will regular maintenance keep the machines and vehicles safe and efficient, but it will also ensure they are compliant with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) legislation.
Modern lubricants, diagnostics, and condition monitoring tools (like oil analysis and telematics) have made it easier than ever to maintain machinery proactively. You can now spot early signs of wear, change oils at the right intervals, and avoid expensive breakdowns, all without replacing machinery. This is especially the case when supported by reliable lubrication solutions and technical advice, such as those offered by companies like Witham Group.
From farms and construction sites to logistics depots and quarrying operations, there’s a common theme: make machinery last longer, keep safe, work harder, and cost less to maintain. At the heart of this shift.

A well-lubricated machine is a reliable machine. Lubricants aren’t just oil and grease — they are highly engineered products that reduce friction, prevent wear, and protect critical components under high stress. In industries that rely on heavy-duty equipment, this protection is invaluable.
PROPER LUBRICATION OFFERS:
• Extended engine and component life
• Lower repair and replacement costs
• Better fuel economy and machine efficiency
• Reduced risk of costly breakdowns
• Improved uptime and productivity

By focussing on maintenance and trusted advice from us, businesses are gaining a partner in performance. Witham Group’s commitment to British manufacturing, environmental responsibility, and technical excellence gives business owners the peace of mind they need in today’s uncertain climate. As machinery continues to be pushed harder and longer, lubrication is no longer an afterthought, it's a critical line of defence and maintaining equipment has never been more achievable, or more essential.

The landscape for rental property owners is changing, with significant new legislation placing greater responsibility on landlords for the health and safety of their tenants. Central to this is the requirement to tackle damp and mould effectively and promptly.

This critical shift in focus is embodied by the introduction of Awaab’s Law, which forms part of the Social Housing Regulation Act 2023. This legislation, named after a toddler who died from a respiratory condition linked to mould, requires landlords to act on reported damp and mould within strict timeframes.
The law was introduced for social landlords in October 2025 and will be extended to the private rented sector through the Renters' Rights Bill in 2026.
The message is unambiguous: inaction on mould is no longer an option and is a proven health risk to all. Landlords must be proactive, not only in fixing the root cause of damp (such as structural defects or leaks) but also in ensuring a safe and healthy environment for tenants.
At Witham Group, we understand that preparing for and meeting these new standards is essential for all property owners. We believe that incorporating high-quality, long-term preventative measures into your property refresh schedule is the smartest way to ensure compliance, protect your investment, and secure the well-being of your tenants. As well as good ventilation, effective heating and insulation, there are easy ways to also help the removal of or avoidance of mould and algae in properties.
A fresh coat of paint might seem like a cosmetic detail, but with the right choice of product, it becomes a powerful, proactive defence against one of the most common and damaging rental property hazards. We supply a range of impressive paint and treatment products designed to help landlords efficiently and affordably refresh their properties while offering maximum protection against mould regrowth.

The new legislation marks a turning point, moving damp and mould from a manageable inconvenience to a legal priority. By choosing premium, high-performance products from Witham Group, landlords can streamline their property maintenance and provide a healthy, safe, and mould-free environment for their tenants, securing peace of mind for everyone.

CROWN CLEAN EXTREME ANTI-MOULD:
Our top-tier anti-mould paint. This product is formulated not just to resist mould but also to offer a tough, highly scrubbable finish. Perfect for high-moisture areas like kitchens and bathrooms, it stands up to rigorous cleaning, maintaining a pristine and protected surface for longer.
CROWN ULTRA MATT+ BUDGET FRIENDLY WHITE:
An anti-mould emulsion that’s great for refreshing rental properties on a budget. This offers essential anti-mould properties without compromising on quality or regulatory compliance, making it an excellent all-rounder for general rental property use.
HG MOULD SPRAY:
Effective preparation is key to long-lasting mould prevention. This spray effectively removes all stains caused by mould, mildew and algae. These unsightly and dangerous black or brown stains are found on the silicone seal between bath or showers and tile edges, on shower enclosures and on tiles, walls and plaster. Not suitable for wood.

OWATROL VC 175 MOULD STOP:
For landlords who prefer to stick with their existing paint scheme, this is the ideal solution. It’s a powerful paint additive that provides long-term protection by killing any mould, mildew or algae spores present and is suitable for most water-based and oil-based paints.

Contact your local depot today to discuss how we can help you prepare your properties for the future of renting.

Meet Nigel Vardy, adventurer, speaker, and writer, whose new Amazon Prime film, which has already earned multiple nominations, is now live on our screens. A true lover of the outdoors and mountaineering, Nigel's life story is a testament to pushing the limits and overcoming adversity.
Nigel’s incredible journey has been one of extraordinary highs and devastating lows. While climbing Denali, the highest mountain peak in North America in 1999, he was caught in a brutal storm that resulted in severe frostbite, costing him his fingers and toes. Yet, instead of letting this trauma define him, Nigel returned to the mountains with an unstoppable spirit.
As a valued customer, we are delighted that Nigel has taken the time to tell us his remarkable story and how he discovered Witham Group…
“I’ve climbed mountains in many of the world’s great ranges, raced across glaciers, lived in tropical jungles, boiled, frozen, fallen, sunk and even been reported missing.”
It’s hard to pin a single day as to when I took up mountaineering, but I was lucky to spend my childhood outdoors in the Derbyshire Peak
District, or on my uncle’s farm, bailing, milking and generally smelling of muck. My dad was a shooting man, and I cut my teeth rabbiting with an air rifle on many a summer bailing session. My secondary school also took everyone out sailing, rock climbing, pot holing and canoeing, whether you liked it or not! I suffered catarrh as a child and the Doctor didn’t prescribe medicine. He just told my mum to put me outside as much as possible.

In 1985 I joined the (then) EMEB as a 16-year-old apprentice, and through my learning was sent on a Raleigh International training weekend, to see what I was really made of. I passed with flying colours, and much to the distain of the industry,
I spent three months in Chile, working on plate tectonic surveys, building community facilities and generally smelling of woodsmoke, as we cooked on open fires. It was a wonderful experience, that I believe every youngster should try.
Because of my Raleigh connections, I spent the next few years carrying out relief work in SE Asia, and South America, climbing in Scotland and the Andes, and still holding down a full-time job. Then one day, my life changed…

"Some people say that I’m mad to do such things but outside is where I feel alive."
In 1999 I had been invited to join a trip to Alaska and climb Denali (Mt. McKinley – the tallest Mountain in the USA). At over 20,000ft, it stands as the highest peak in North America and has a fearsome reputation for foul weather. After a couple of weeks of strenuous, but wonderful mountaineering, we were caught in the open, in a storm which almost killed us. We were three tiny dots in a huge white landscape, at over 19,000ft, in winds of 60mph and a windchill of -60C. We managed to hide in a snow hole, but a combination of exposure and time damaged us all. Thankfully rescue came later the next day, but because of severe frostbite, I lost all my toes, both heels, all my fingertips and my nose. At 30 years old, I underwent many bouts of major surgery and had to learn life lessons again, such as walking, writing, eating and dressing.
People asked me to take life easy after such a trauma, but within two years I was back rock climbing. It was painful and many of my injuries bled, but nothing was going to stop me. Since then, I have undertaken dozens of overseas expeditions to the Himalayas, the Arctic, Africa and SE Asia. I got back on skis, have sea kayaked in Norway and Greenland, and have no intentions of stopping until my body gives in. Some people say that I’m mad to do such things but outside is where I feel alive.

I returned to Alaska for the 25th anniversary of my accident and made a documentary entitled ‘Frostbitten’ which is now live on Amazon Prime and is in the running for several film awards.
I speak professionally about my experiences and work a great deal in schools and universities. Youngsters need to see that we can overcome adversity and do great things with our lives, no matter what we go through. I find this very rewarding work as I see eyes light up when I share my story.
I mentioned earlier my love of field sports. I still shoot and though I require a few adaptions, nothing stops a day in the field. I regularly use the Witham range of gun care products for my country pursuits and can only highly recommend them.

“I'm not the greatest climber, and I never will be, but I still push my hands and feet to their limit. Climbing without toes has never been easy, but it’s not going to stop me...”
I write letters and articles for the shooting press, and one such letter won a prize from the Witham Group. We stayed in touch, and I was invited to tour the factory in Lincoln. I’m a great believer in environmental protection and with my almost 40 years in the Electricity industry, had seen how oil was transported and used. Witham pride themselves on their facility, their staff and being the best when it comes to the environment.
Having seen that with my own eyes, I can tell you that I was thoroughly impressed.
Long may it continue…

Sanders Coaches Ltd is now an award-winning, 100% family-owned company, owned by Norman and his wife Gladys’s sons Paul and Charles Sanders. With a fleet of over 90 vehicles, their operation is split between three depots covering both local bus services and private coach hire.
Norfolk-based Sanders Coaches was established in 1975 and now has more than 100 vehicles in its fleet. The Holt-based coach and bus operator is not resting on its laurels though as it brings up the half-century and from humble beginnings the company is on its way to becoming one of the largest operators in the east of England. Here we find out more about this award winning family business and how they are geared up for the next half century.

Charles Sanders, one of the current directors, 50 years later remembers how the company originally came into the family. Norman Sanders had only been working for Bennett’s Coaches of Holt for a few months when the owner, George Bennett, announced he was retiring. Asked if he wanted to take over the business, Norman replied that he did not have any money. “That’s okay, you can pay me as you go," George replied. Thus, Norman inherited five coaches and one hearse, and the family has since expanded the fleet to 57 service buses and 42 coaches.

We are very proud to remain a fully Norfolk based, company serving North Norfolk and beyond, offering stable and secure employment to a team of over 120 talented individuals including engineers, cleaners, mechanics and administration staff. Our local bus and school bus networks span North Norfolk stretching as far west as Harpley and as far east as Great Yarmouth, and of course just about everywhere in between. We are proud to work alongside Norfolk County Council to deliver many of our services and are trusted by them with home to school transport contracts to every school in the area.
“I often sit here and wonder how it happened because it’s huge compared to where we were” Charles Sanders, Sanders Coaches Director
As well as our local bus operation, we operate a fleet of executive coaches ranging from 8 seat minibuses right through to 70 seat school coaches. We offer a no obligation quotation and will consider all jobs no matter how big or small it is, whether it be a wedding, trip out with a big family, school outing or a corporate outing.
The latest two acquisitions celebrate the halfcentury anniversary of the business serving the community in Norfolk, one of the most rural counties of England.

The new Yutong GT12 coaches are respectively kitted out in Sanders’ traditional and current liveries. The striking modern-day orange example is adorned with the name Delia Smith and the white, blue and orange heritage version with that of her husband Michael Wynn-Jones in honour of the former majority shareholders of local club Norwich City FC. The famous cook and television presenter, who relinquished ownership of the club last year, gave permission to Sanders, which will use the vehicles to continue serving the supporters’ away trips.

Most vehicles are housed in Holt, but Sanders also has depots in North Walsham and Norwich
The special anniversary vehicles are sited, like most of Sanders’ coaches, at the main Hempstead Road depot in the town of Holt where it began operations. Although the hearse is long gone, the operator has remained as a family business at its base a few miles from the North Norfolk coast. With buses operating from a yard around the corner, it also has bases in North Walsham and Norwich.
Norman and wife Gladys developed the holiday programme, spending 15 to 20 weeks per year away. This meant that sons Charles and Paul, who started with the business as teenagers, were left with the day-to-day running, which continues to be the case today.
Charles, who had trained as a policeman but opted to work instead for the business, said his parents specialised in the holiday programme and Norman was still driving for Sanders in 2010 at the age of 80, before his death in 2016.
In the meantime, bus deregulation meant a change of focus for Sanders. While it handed over its holiday customer database to nearby Easton’s, it took on the latter’s scheduled services in exchange. Now the business’s revenue is roughly 65% bus, thanks to commercial services and in partnership with Norfolk County Council tendered services.
Charles says: “Our partnership with Norfolk County Council has been tremendous over the years to get the network where we are today. I often sit here and wonder how it happened because it’s huge compared to where we were.”

Coaches’ two Coast
Sanders has capitalised on the tourism market, with its Coastline services serving walkers on the popular North Norfolk Coast Path. Charles says of the strategy: “We produce a nice timetable with plenty of information which we distribute to every holiday camp along the coast. A lot [of operators] don’t do printing. I think that’s a mistake. It costs us a lot of money, but I’m sure we reap the benefit of it.”

Charles is open-minded to exploring electrification but admits it will be a challenge at the current bus depot due to space requirements and doubts over grid availability in the area.
However, in another nostalgic look back, he adds: “We can’t get any trace of any emissions on smoke-metre readings on our ultra-low carbon diesels. They’re as clean as a whistle."
“Twenty or thirty years ago, on a freezing cold morning, there’d be a smog over the top of our garage when we started all the buses up and you could smell the fumes in the air.”
Sanders Coaches is benefiting in a booming coaching market, with Charles noting that the businesses which survived the pandemic have blossomed.
Another recent trend has been bigger groups buying out family or smaller coach operators. That could have happened to Sanders themselves, Charles notes.

With Charles and Paul now in their sixties, they invited Charles’ son, Martin, to come on board as Business Manager a couple of years ago. Along with Engineering Director Daniel, Paul’s son, the duo are leading the family business into a new generation.
Martin, who had been working as an accountant, admits the career choice was a difficult one to make. Charles says they may have had to have sold up if they had not agreed to come on board. Martin adds: “I’ve got four children and Paul’s got two. And we thought, who is going to be the best person if we hand this on to run it? I’ve seen businesses where sons have just inherited from the father and they’ve gone down the pan in five years because they’re not the right person.”

Sanders Coaches: Top Independent Bus Operator (UK Bus Awards 2023 & 2024)
As well as creating business opportunities, the Norwich depot has helped with staffing. Recruitment of drivers has been an issue as for most operators, but being a family business has eased things, says Charles, who adds: “A lot of people like the fact that we’re a family, we’ve got an open-door policy. We do get quite a bit of loyalty.”
Martin adds: “Somebody said yesterday that, although they’re not a member of the Sanders family, they feel like they are and they feel a responsibility to work hard for the business and make it work for us and them.”
The fact that only about four of its office staff do not have a PSV licence has also helped the business weather the recruitment storm. In the last five years we have invested heavily in PSVAR compliant wheelchair accessible coaches which are fitted with lifts, spaces and fixings to securely, safely and comfortably transport multiple wheelchair users. Our drivers are specially trained in safe use of this equipment.
Asked about the philosophy which has enabled the operator to prosper for 50 years, Charles quickly responds: “Put the passenger first, second and third, that’s it. Focus everything on passengers.
“As I say to all the drivers when they come and start here, don’t come to me to pay your wages. Your wages are standing out there. If you don’t pick up those people and do a good job then there won’t be any wages for anybody.” When it comes to customer service, he adds: “If people miss the bus for whatever reason, we’ll mostly go and pick them up and take them where they want to go because then they’ll keep using you and they’ll tell everybody.”
“We’ll just carry on doing what we do and hopefully what we’ve done in the past will stand us in good stead going forward,” says Charles.
“We’ve not aggressively ever gone out targeting customers, they’ve all come to us. We might do a little bit more aggressive marketing after opening Norwich because we need to get established and get some new clients. But having Norwich puts up most of Norfolk to us… It gives us a huge opportunity to expand.”

Our Witham lorry delivering bulk oils and lubricants to the new Sanders Depot.
WITHAM GROUP HAVE BEEN OF GREAT ASSISTANCE
As long standing customers, to help Sanders Coaches with their new depot, Witham Group supplied new bulk storage tanks in their latest new workshop which makes life a lot cleaner and easier to keep the huge fleet of vehicles in tip top condition.
Daniel the Engineering Manager said “We have been using the lubricants and other products of Witham Group for decades and their latest help with our bulk storage tanks and oil rationalisation has really helped us operate more efficiently for the future ahead. Witham Group have been a great assistance to us and our sales Executive Michael is always on hand if we need any advice or something urgent”.

The Lincoln Red is one of the oldest of the UK's native breeds of beef cattle and the Lincoln Red Cattle Society is a charitable organisation dedicated to the promotion of this magnificent breed.
Although they were Britain’s second largest breed of pedigree beef cattle in the 1920s, their numbers dropped after European breeds became popular in the 1970s and 1980s. While many farmers found success after combining the qualities of the original Lincoln Red breed with other cattle from Europe, the original Lincoln Red population continued to fall, with just several hundred remaining today.
Witham Group are proud to support this Society to try to help it gain the recognition and awareness it so richly deserves. Many of our farming customers have this amazing breed and we hope by shedding some light on the work of the Society, we can help secure its future a little further.
Lincoln Reds are a polled animal, well fleshed with a deep cherry-red coat, a wide muzzle, well placed legs, sturdy feet and is ideally suited to a range of conditions, producing marbled, flavourful, succulent beef.
The Lincoln Red Cattle Society was among the first to use herd books and introduced the first independently observed Beef Recording Scheme. Most breeds of cattle have improved over the years. Indeed, many of them owe this to the pioneering work of the Lincoln Red breeders.
In 1799 the breed was described by the Board of Agriculture “A breed of cattle which are unsurpassed in this country for points highly valuable and for their disposition at any age to finish rapidly.”
The Lincoln Red Cattle Society was the first to introduce weight recording, performance figures for the cattle, in order to publish weight figures and gains in the sale catalogues.
With the importations of continental cattle breeds in the 1970’s and 80’s the Lincoln Red breed, along with all indigenous British breeds, suffered a loss in popularity. Unbowed, a Breed Development
Programme was initiated by the Society. Lincoln Red cows were crossed with selected European breeds to improve conformation and increase lean meat content. This has been carried out extremely successfully and the main characteristics of the breed have been retained.
Original Population Lincoln Reds (as classified by the RBST) are monitored with the help of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. Shipments of semen and embryos to North America, Brazil and Australia have been reactivated.
In 1999 The Lincoln Red participated in an MLC project assessing maternal traits in beef cattle: “Developing Effective Suckler Cow Replacement Strategies”. This project was designed to develop techniques for comparing the performance of different breeds of suckler cows and different management systems. The Society also took part in the “Lincoln Red Decision Support Programme”, a postgraduate research programme at De Montfort University. This is a computer based programme helping to keep track of the many lines of Lincoln Red genetics, especially the full pedigree lines; aiding breeders to make important breeding decisions regarding the different traits to be taken into consideration.

With rewilding on estates and farmland growing in popularity the Lincolns fit really well into regenerative systems and conservation grazing. Estates like South Ormsby and Doddington in Lincolnshire are using the cattle as a driving force to help build biodiversity and carbon sequestration into soils and vegetation. The great quality of the meat is very much appreciated and are the chosen breed for many Pasture for Life associated herds. So, the Lincoln Red Society are on a fight back campaign to sell the virtues of the breed and gain the recognition it so richly deserves.
Today the highly acclaimed beef from this breed is available from a variety of estates, farm shops and restaurants throughout the UK. The cattle are on show at scores of agricultural shows such as the
Lincolnshire Show, Royal Highland Show, Royal Norfolk Show and many other events.
The Lincoln Red Cattle Society offers membership of a friendly Society for breeders and friends who understand the potential and benefits of breeding Lincoln Red Cattle. It also offers an approved market place for the buying and selling of the breed, as well supplies and advice for owners and breeders. The Society is helping this rare form of Lincoln Red cattle make a comeback so that future generations can enjoy the delicious beef and beautiful animals that form a key part of the country’s farming heritage.
