Gopher State Tournament of Champions Welcome to the 2021 Gopher State Tournament of Champions (GSTC), the crown jewel of Minnesota youth baseball tournaments. This event was designed for the best youth baseball teams in the upper Midwest to showcase their talents and compete for the Ring!

The GSTC is comprised of Minnesota’s best teams, top-notch venues, wonderful volunteers and most prestigious awards to offer an outstanding tournament experience for everyone involved. All teams participating in this year’s event were required to qualify in a GSTC Qualifying event.

Our mission as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization is to continue supporting the youth baseball communities of Minnesota. At every playing site over the weekend, local youth baseball organizations are dedicating their volunteers to field maintenance, concessions and other on-site responsibilities. In return, the Host Groups receive all concessions and admissions revenue to support their programs. We thank all host organizations for donating their time and efforts.

Each year, youth sports organizations raise over $3 million by hosting MYAS events.

2021 Gopher State Tournament of Champions To: Coaches, Team Managers, Parents/Spectators Re: Youth 1st Team Award Program

Thank you for participating in the 2021 Gopher State Tournament of Champions!

MYAS and Gopher State Baseball has partnered with Youth 1st and will be including the Youth 1st Team Awards Program in the GSTC tournament this season. It is a simple, yet significant program that will enhance the experience for players, coaches, umpires, and fans by placing an emphasis on good sportsmanship and positive conduct!

The Umpires will be handing each coach a Conduct 1st Pocket Reminder card as part of the pre-game coaches meetings. This is a reminder that the GSTC is a Conduct 1st Environment. The card emphasizes three main points:

REMEMBER … It’s about the kids.

I WILL … Keep my competitive energy in check.

I WILL ALWAYS … Treat officials and opponents with respect.

We are asking all coaches to please partner with your umpires to ensure that this emphasis is maintained throughout the game by yourself, assistant coaches, your players and your fans. We also recommend sharing the card with your other coaches and fans as the game starts. You, as a coach and the leader of your team, are responsible for the behavior of your players, coaches AND FANS.

At the conclusion of each game, the umpire will vote for each team that exhibits the conduct, behavior and attitudes as defined by the three points of emphasis. Remind your parents the team vote includes players, coaches, AND FANS! After the tournament, teams that receive exemplary scores will be recognized with a Youth 1st Team Award!

As a thank you for assisting us in this process, we are including a materials package of wristbands and temporary tattoos for each player and lanyards for each coach.

Our theme for this season is BE RESILIENT! We hope you will talk to your team about the importance of seeing adversity as an opportunity to grow and get better, both as a player and as a person. Thank you for being a positive influence during the tournament, making the experience even better for the fans, officials and especially the kids!

MYAS/Gopher State is excited to offer the Rising Stars Baseball Academy, which focuses on developing to play versus playing to develop! This premier player development option will provide options for youth baseball players to further their game by learning from some of the best instructors that Minnesota has to offer. We are extremely fortunate to have top instructors and clinicians that have many years of experience and tremendous knowledge in baseball development and training. Our offerings will vary from general baseball instruction to advanced player development and are for ages 5U-14U. The intent of the Academy is to provide superior instruction, premier player development, at an affordable/cost effective price point, while focusing on the community -based youth baseball player.
