The day you step on campus, you’ll be immersed in a tradition of success. From our cutting edge research to some of the best food in the country — yes, we’re talking about cheese curds — we’re so excited to have you join this legacy. By living in one of our 19 residence halls, you will be in the middle of everything you’ll need to have the best college experience. We want you to succeed, and that’s why we offer tutoring services, volunteering opportunities, and social events right in the residence halls. We are proud to have you join the Badger Family, and we look forward to welcoming you to campus.

Starting in 2018, all new University Housing Residents will select a meal plan for their purchases.

New residents can select from three meal plan tiers, $1,400, $2,100 or $3,100 depending on how often they plan to dine on campus. Incentives are offered for students who commit to eating on campus more often.

DISCOVER YOUR MEAL PLAN.

As a resident, you receive a 30% discount on prepared food, a 20% discount on pre-packaged food, and are exempt from 5.5% sales tax when paying with your Wiscard. With the meal plan, you can buy grocery items, beverages and a variety of healthy foods in all of our dining halls, coffee shops, and convenience stores on campus. Besides, all purchases at our dining units are à la carte, giving you flexibility to eat what you want, when you want it. Online ordering is also available through Tapingo, an app that allows you to pre-order and customize your meals and pick them up at express pick-up stations at the closest University Housing dining location skipping the line.

To help you plan your diet, we provide nutrition information for everything we offer and many dietary resources to all students at no cost. As a student on campus, you get access to NetNutrition, a website that helps you screen menus for allergen friendly food items. The most common allergens are listed on the right side of each meal planning website page for your convenience. You can also check any allergens you would like to avoid and only see items that do not contain these ingredients. Even if you don’t want to plan ahead, you will still find what you like at our dining units. Our made-to-order options and items prepared from scratch give you freedom to customize your meals with no advance planning.

Our dining units offer exceptional meal options for those with dietary restrictions due to health concerns, food allergies or religious observances. We provide resources that highlight our allergen friendly options and prepare fresh alternatives daily to give you flexibility to eat what you want when you want it. To help you easily identify healthy meal options, a customized line sign accompanies each menu item. The sign identifies common allergens as well as serving size, information on calories, fat, carbs, and protein.

Our sustainability efforts divert more than over 70 tons of food waste from landfills and a total of over 1,000,000 water bottles out of the landfill per year. We want to continue our pursuit and are asking you to help us achieve our sustainable goal. Starting in Fall 2018, all University dining units are shifting to a new to-go system eliminating traditional waste-producing to-go containers.

All students will be provided a token which they will exchange for a reusable container at a dining unit. After finishing your meal, you will bring the container to one of the vending machines on campus and exchange it for a new token.

What is better than receiving a care package from your family during finals week? UW Housing Dining offers a variety of carepackages to send to your family or fiends. If you purchase the Tier 3 meal plan, you will receive a 20% discount on all packages in addition to other benefits. Care packages offer birthday cakes, sweet treats, healthy fruit and snack bags, personalized bakery items, and even ice-cream!
