Winona State has faced off against Northern State twice this year, yielding a 1-1 record with both contests decided at the buzzer. WSU earned a lastsecond win most recently at Northern State on Feb. 16, when Connor Dillon hit a go-ahead 3-pointer from near halfcourt as time expired. NSU dealt WSU a 77-75 setback on Jan. 6 with a jumper in the last three seconds of the game.
Wolves, Warriors in the NSIC Tournament
Northern State has won six NSIC Tournament titles, while Winona State has claimed five. Most recently, NSU took home the 2021 NSIC trophy while WSU’s last NSIC hardware haul was in 2011.

When WSU and NSU faced off in Aberdeen, S D on February 16, Connor Dillon delivered a buzzer-beater from just inside half-court for the 80-79 Warrior win The last time WSU hit a buzzer-beater as time expired was in 2022 when current WSU assistant coach Devin Whitelow hit a go-ahead layup against Sioux Falls for a 76-75 victory in McCown on February 11, 2022
Also on Feb 16 at NSU, Declan Dillon led the team in minutes played (37) against Northern State while recording nine points and nine rebounds; Dillon did not commit a turnover on the day
Olumide Adelodun was named to the NSIC Shining Five following last weekend The Calgary, Canada product averaged 19 points and 8 5 rebounds over the two games, both Warrior wins Adelodun was 9-of-10 from the free throw line and 12-of-24 from the floor
Brock Voigt became the most recent Winona State player to reach the career 1,000-point mark Voigt sat at 980 career points heading into Saturday’s game having scored 19 the night before in a Warrior win over UMary Against the Beavers, Voigt led WSU with 20 points to hit the 1,000-point mark on the dot
Connor Dillon’s 41-point performance versus CSP was a career-high for the Peoria, Ill. product and ranks 5th alltime in single-game points at Winona State.
In the game against Concordia St. Paul on January 30, Connor Dillon recorded ten rebounds to go with his monster scoring night to record the first 40-point, double-double in Winona State history.
Winona State finished sixth in the NSIC regular season with a 14-8 league record. Southwest Minnesota State also finished 14-8 but held the tiebreaker over WSU with a 2-0 season sweep of the Warriors.
The Warriors secured a home game as the sixth seed for the first round of the NSIC tournament following a home NSIC weekend sweep, beating Bemidji State 87-81 and Minnesota Crookston 63-40.
The most recent Winona State men’s basketball team appearance in the NSIC tournament came in 2022 when the Warriors lost at home in the first round to UMary 82-70 on February 23.
The NSIC quarterfinal, semi-final, and championship tournament rounds will be held at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
In 2023-24, Winona State has held three opponents to under 50 points in the three Warrior wins; ArkansasMonticello (62-46), Wisconsin-Parkside (59-45), and Minnesota Crookston (63-40).
The last time the Warriors and Wolves faced off in a playoff matchup was in 2019 when the two teams faced off in the NSIC semi-finals. In that contest, Winona State fell on a last-second shot by the Wolves’ Mason Stark, dealing WSU a 77-76 setback.

Winona State beats Minnesota Crookston in senior day victory
WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University men's basketball team provided their four seniors a fitting regular-season sendoff on Saturday, pulling away in the second half to defeat the University of Minnesota Crookston 63-40 in McCown Gymnasium, home of WNB Financial Court.
Winona State (19-9, 14-8 NSIC) honored four Warrior seniors; Brock Voigt, Jordan Wilkins, Carter Lomas, and Carson Arenz before the contest Olumide Adelodun notched a double-double for his team and WSU put together one of the best defensive efforts of the season in holding UMC to just 40 points and Winona State saw a 31-12 second half seal the win
How it Happened:
Minnesota Crookston raced out to a 16-2 lead in the first five minutes of play, as the WSU offense was slow to get into gear following the opening tip.
Olumide Adelodun and Connor Dillon were able to finally get things moving for the Warriors after the media timeout, and Devon Fielding added to the WSU comeback effort with a 3-pointer at 9:25 and a layup moments later to close the gap to 2018 in favor of UMC
Connor Dillon spotted Winona State their first lead of the game with a layup on a fast break with 6:13 to play and an Adelodun 3-pointer put WSU up 34-28 heading into the halftime break

In the final 20 minutes, Olumide Adelodun picked up where he left off before the intermission, scoring a 3-pointer to spark a Warrior run, with Brock Voigt, Declan Dillon, and Connor Dillon pushing Winona State out to a 19-point advantage in the space of just five minutes
While the WSU offense began to fire on all cylinders, Todd Eisner's team also laid into a lock-down defensive effort in the second half, holding the Golden Eagles to just six points midway through the period UMC connected on only six shots from the floor in the entire second half, going 5-for-21 overall, with just one 3-pointer among the makes WSU's defensive presence led to an 8-4 advantage on steals.
Winona State would see Olumide Adelodun finish with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Brock Voigt added 15, en route to the 63-40 Warrior win.

The Warriors notched 18 points off of Golden Eagle turnovers, and UMC did not convert a turnover opportunity against WSU.
