Introduction

About Me

For me fashion is a form of expression, sort of like a language, i have always been captivated by the way garments could transform not only appearances but also emotions and attitudes and is why this led me to explore design, textiles and the history of fashion.

My Portfolio

This portfolio to showcase all the work have produced including samples, simple sketches to final illustrations and final garments, its just an insight to the amount of work that has gone into creating my final outcomes as I wanted my work to stand out, demonstrating the steps I take during my design process.

Our Natural World Samples

OurNaturalWorld VisualCommunications

For this project (our natural world) I used many different mark making techniques to produce my drawings based on the theme .

Mood board

For my space project I had to put together a mood board and a title page, I had to a lot into consideration as anything I put onto them had to stick to specific theme and influence my design ideas throughout the project. I included various other space inspired garments that I could take inspiration from and any interesting patterns or colors featured in space.

The First sample I produced was my spray paint sample and it was made to resemble a space nebula

The second sample i produced was my layering sample and it was made to be a little outlandish, questioning if aliens are real?

The third sample i produced was my eyelet sample and it was made to resemble a half moon with some stars around it. 03.

The final sample i produced was my heavy stitching sample which involved using machine embroidery to layout my design and going over these lines to make them stand out more.

Cutting out hoodies pieces

GarmentDevelopment

I designed and made a space inspired hoodie, which included drafting and cutting out the pattern, then cutting out my fabric for the hoodie using my patterns. I made many samples with reverse applique to see how my garment may turn out before moving on to drawing the reverse applique design onto the hood front and back. after, I pinned the second fabric into place and sewed over the marked out lines and cutting away the top fabric, revealing my design. I then constructed the final garment.

Creativitydoesnotstop!

This is a hoodie I made at home, I started by using my seam ripper to remove one of the sleeves, the ribbing, pockets and hood. I then measured a few inches up from the bottom of the hoodie as i wanted to make length a little shorter so it would sit just at the waist and then I cut along the marked line before sewing the ribbing back on. PersonalProject-LeicesterFashionDistrict

I am currently working on a Fashion project outside of college with the Leicester Fashion District which will be showcased as part of an exhibition. I started with an initial sketch of the garment, this took some time to get right as I wanted it to be perfect as the garment needed to be functional, after the design was all planned out I wrapped cling film around the mannequin and I made two pointed shoulders with tin foil and duct tape, before using cling film to wrap it to the shoulder on the mannequin. once the mannequin was protected I then cut out plenty strips of a quilted fabric and morphed it to the drawn out design, using pins to keep them in place, I did for both sides, but I stopped pinning just above the waist and let the rest of the fabric drape down. once everything was pinned I then started to mix the silicone to apply over the garment making it solid, giving it a glow and making it more fierce. I did this all over the inside of the pins, I repeated these steps for the shoulders as well.
