Greek Isles & Turkish Delights I

Santorini, Greece

E

xplore the hidden delights of the Greek Isles, the Turkish coasts, and the greatest icons of civilization on this, our signature voyage. You’ll discover thousands of years of humankind’s

greatest feats — from the Acropolis of Athens to the grand palaces of Istanbul. Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes — discover the Greek Isles as they were meant to be traveled, by sailing yacht.

Day 1 • Athens, Greece 180° from Ordinary A pirouette of sails. The wonder of Windstar’s yacht dance is hard to describe — as one beautiful yacht rests at anchor in Bodrum harbor, the other, under full sail, circles in a graceful salute. This moment is all magic, all Windstar — all yours.

Voyage shown is Athens to Istanbul. Istanbul to Athens sails in reverse direction (pages 26-27).

Here, in the city that cradled western civilization, walk in footsteps that echo with the history of 2,500 years. The very names are legends. The Acropolis, standing high above the city, facing the brilliant blue waters of the Aegean. The Parthenon, standing majestically in honor of Athena, the city’s patron. Pull yourself back into the present in Athens’ charming shops and coffee houses.

Day 2 • Mykonos, Greece Wake this morning to the postcard-like scene of Mykonos, the classic Greek Isle dotted with hundreds of whitewashed churches and thatchroofed windmills, in a harbor bobbing with fishing boats and luxurious private yachts. A scenic ferry ride takes you back to the 6th century B.C. to the tiny island of Delos, the mythical birthplace of Apollo.

Ephesus, Turkey

Istanbul, Turkey

As our yacht approaches the spectacular cliffs rising from the deep azure sea, you’ll understand the magic of this area, where some say the ruins of Atlantis remain hidden. Sail in a traditional Greek fishing boat (a caïque) to Thira, and hike to the summit of its active volcano for spectacular views. Then sail to the thermal springs of Palea Kameini for a swim in the heated waters.

Day 4 • Rhodes, Greece This gracious oasis, known as the “island of roses,” was home to the legendary Colossus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Today it is a yachting paradise, whose shores are lined with sparkling beaches and lush green mountainsides. A scenic drive leads you through quaint villages and lemon groves to the ancient Acropolis of Lindos, standing guard over the picturesque town.

Day 5 • Bodrum, Turkey A myriad of activities fill your day, from scuba diving with a certified master to lounging on the beach at the luxurious resort, or a romantic cruise for two in a traditional wooden gulet schooner. Experience one of Windstar’s signature highlights as our two beautiful yachts, Wind Star and Wind Spirit, circle each other in a graceful pirouette salute.

Day 7 • At Sea Indulge yourself today — as though it’s your own private yacht. But don’t forget the utter beauty and compelling history around you as we sail through the Dardanelles in one of the world’s unique yachting thrills. The haunting history of Gallipoli surrounds you, as you see Europe on one hand and Asia on the other.

day. Hear the whispers of the ancient Greeks. See the majesty of the great Ottoman Empire. And savor the simple entertainment of people-watching in a village café.

Day 1 • Istanbul, Turkey 180° from Ordinary Sail away. It’s a moment you’ll always remember. Every sailing. Each port. Our yacht gracefully turns toward the open sea — sails towering and full, decks gleaming; slow, regal majesty in motion. The strains of stirring music swell as our sails billow. You are on deck, the envy of every eye on shore. This is one of those moments you never get over. And if you find yourself moved to tears by the beauty of it, don’t be embarrassed — you won’t be the only one. And you won’t be the first.

Here, East meets West and old meets new in a dizzying collection of lively bazaars and awe-inspiring monuments overlooking the timeless Bosporus. Wander through the famous Blue Mosque, splendid mausoleums, palaces of the Ottoman sultans, and museums filled with intricate mosaics and captivating frescoes.

Day 2 • At Sea History enfolds you on this magical sailing, as we voyage through the same waters that once carried Ottomans, Greeks, Persians, and Byzantines. Sailing through the Dardanelles, where you can easily observe where Asia ends and Europe begins is an utterly unique experience — and the yachting thrill of a lifetime.

Day 4 • Rhodes, Greece Medieval walls built by the Crusaders still dominate ancient Rhodes Town and its splendid harbor. The arched streets of the village lead to a number of archeological museums, as well as the Palace of the Grand Masters, which was once the site of the statue of Colossus. Enjoy the scenery outside the town at Butterfly Valley, the magnificent monastery at Filerimos, or one of many nearby gold-sand beaches.

Day 5 • Bodrum, Turkey Don’t miss the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology, located within St. Peter’s Castle, built in the 15th century. Among its ancient treasures is a solid gold scarab once owned by Queen Nefertiti. Later, delight in one of Windstar’s signature highlights as our two beautiful yachts, Wind Star and Wind Spirit, circle each other in a graceful pas de deux.

Town, with its iconic thatched-roof windmills. Take a look through Little Venice, named for its Venetian-style waterfront homes. Shop for modern silver cuffs or artful reproductions of Byzantine jewelry in town — or relax on the golden sands of Paradise Beach.

Day 8 • Athens, Greece Greek Isles & Turkey

Situated along the most beautiful shoreline in Turkey, the terraced village of Kusadasi overlooks a lovely bay. Shop for carpets and leather goods, or sip raki (a local aperitif) at a nearby café. Then travel back in time at nearby Ephesus, one of the most impressive archeological sites in Turkey, if not the world. Ephesus is also home to the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Explore this city for the ages in a two- or threeday Windstar Land Tour to conclude your cruise. From the beautiful Hotel Grande Bretagne you’ll discover Athens’ treasures — the Parthenon, the Acropolis, temples, theaters, and more — in the care of knowledgeable guides who will not only share the city’s ancient secrets and modern enchantment, they’ll also escort you with expert ease in complete comfort and confidence. Don’t miss an opportunity to explore the famous Blue Grotto, with its intense azure interior and ethereal silvery light.

a favorite spot on the deck and enjoy the scenery as we make our way north to the exquisite island of Corsica.

Day 6 • Porto-Vecchio, France The yacht-lined harbor on the magnificent Gulf of Santa Giulia in southern Corsica is home to one of the island’s most photogenic towns. Known for internationally acclaimed beaches, the fashionable resort of Porto-Vecchio also has much to recommend it inland. Stroll down cobblestone paths to find delightful shops and intimate cafés — or wander farther afield to explore the prehistoric monoliths in nearby Sotta.

Day 7 • Portoferraio, Italy Sailing past pink granite hillsides and pristine beaches, it’s easy to see why Napoleon chose the island of Elba for his exile. The exclusive marina at Portoferraio is an ideal place to enjoy a fresh seafood lunch before visiting Star Fort, a former fortress of the di Medici family. So-called for its star-shaped design, it offers astonishing views of the Gulf.

Rugged cliffs, exquisite beaches, cascading terraces, and the scent of lemon wafting through the air welcome you to breathtaking Sorrento. Wander through narrow byways in search of aromatic soaps, oils, and lotions to take home — or visit nearby Castello Giusso. Then settle back and enjoy a Limoncello as you look out from your clifftop perch onto your beautiful Windstar ship in the harbor below.

Day 4 • Lipari/Stromboli Scenic Cruise As our ship rests alongside glamorous yachts belonging to Europe’s elite, you may opt for an engaging tour of this largest island of the Aeolian Islands, an archipelago strung between Vesuvius and Etna. Striped with red and black veins of obsidian and crowned with a naturally sculpted volcanic crest, Lipari welcomes explorers. Stop in the quaint shops of Canneto and enjoy a classic Italian treat in a local pasticceria. Enjoy a scenic tour of the stunning Stromboli Volcano’s Sciara del Fuoco (Slope of Fire) as we sail in the evening.

acation with Europe’s elite along the sun-drenched shores of Croatia, Montenegro, and tiny Capri. Let your imagination soar as you travel through time to discover the magic of Venice, the grandeur

of Rome, and the stunning beauty of the Dalmatian Coast. From the Grand Canal to St. Peter’s Square, this is a voyage of superlatives.

Day 1 • Rome, Italy 180° from Ordinary We keep the world beautiful. Our energy source is the world’s most ecologically safe and completely renewable one, the wind. Whenever possible our yachts sail under the power of prevailing winds alone. Smoothly, silently, cleanly — leaving nothing behind but a wake. When we do use fuel, we use only ultra-low sulfur fuel exclusively, with the lowest emission levels in the industry. With Windstar, you’ll sail smoothly — and breathe easy.

Toss a coin in Trevi Fountain and prepare to enjoy la dolce vita. In addition to world-famous sights such as the ancient Forum and spectacular Vatican City, Rome also offers much in the way of retail therapy with some of the best shopping in Italy.

Day 2 • Capri, Italy There is so much to see on this captivating island — from the ruins of Roman villas to gorgeous private residences surrounded by flower-filled gardens. Day 4 • At Sea Sail the privileged waters of the Ionian Sea to the breathtaking fjords of Montenegro. One of the most beautiful places on the Dalmatian Coast, these intricate fjords are a spectacular journey, even by road. Just imagine it under full sail on Wind Surf’s broad teak deck.

Day 5 • Kotor, Montenegro With its twisting byways, Byzantine architecture, and pitched mountains plummeting straight into the Adriatic Sea, the walled city of Kotor astonishes at every turn. Timeworn cobbled streets lead to gorgeous gardens, Venetianstyle churches, and aristocratic mansions from days gone by. Admire the medieval beauty of St. Tryphon’s Cathedral or watch a magical sunset from the Fortress of St. Ivan.

Pula, Croatia

western end of town for an easy stroll through a verdant mountain park.

Day 8 • Pula, Croatia Sail along unspoiled coves to legendary Pula, a city dating back to Roman times. Traces of the era can still be seen in the remarkably preserved Arena, a 1st century amphitheater which is still in use. The lovely natural landscape outside Pula is host to a number of local vineyards, while closer to town, sandy beaches welcome an international list of sun worshippers and divers.

Day 9 • Venice, Italy Extend your stay in a Windstar Collection hotel, perfectly situated in the heart of Venice. The entire city, from the legendary Grand Canal to the magnificent Piazza San Marco, is at your doorstep. End your magical cruise in this most enchanting of cities, where quiet lagoons lead to astonishing churches and inviting palazzo. Enjoy a gondola tour of the canals, a stroll among the romantic bridges, or shop for celebrated glass, masks, and art. See page 103 for Venice hotel options.

At its pinnacle, high atop the renowned Acropolis, stands the Parthenon, the temple to the city’s namesake goddess Athena.

Day 4 • Rhodes, Greece The ancient Colossus once commanded this harbor. Now your graceful yacht brings you into the paths of history.

Rhodes, Greece

A mosaic of cultures and traditions greets you — from the ancient Jewish Quarter and historic Synagogue, through the cobbled streets, fragrant with spices and Turkish coffee, to the beautiful Mosque of Suleiman and its stunning Renaissance architecture. The 14th century Palace of the Grand Masters leads you to the district once inhabited by the Knights of the Order of St. John. An excursion to Lindos Acropolis reveals the 4th century Temple of Athena Lindia, a beautiful Byzantine church, and fortifications of the Knights.

Day 5 • Antalya, Turkey In Patmos, the worlds of Greek mythology and Christian theology collide. The beautiful island is said to have been raised from the bottom of the sea by the goddess Artemis. It is, however, most noted as the site from which John, the writer of the book of Revelation, received his Apocalyptic vision. Visit the famous Cave of the Apocalypse and view the stone which the Apostle is believed to have used as his pillow. The Cave is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as is the Monastery of St. John the Theologian, built by a soldier-priest in 1092. Amid the illustrious history of the island, take time to soak up the stunning beauty of this “Jerusalem of the Aegean.”

According to tradition, a 2nd century king ordered his soldiers to find heaven on earth. They gave him Antalya.

Welcome to beautiful Cyprus, known in legend as the birthplace of Aphrodite. In thousands of years of history, the island has been home to people of all faiths, and holds many sites sacred to Greek Orthodoxy, Islam, and the ancient Armenian Church.

Near Larnaca you may visit Choirokoitia, one of the most important and best preserved prehistoric sites of the eastern Mediterranean. Be sure to spare time to shop for the region’s exquisite lace and silver.

Day 8 • Haifa, Israel Enjoy a full day and evening in Haifa*. This energetic city is Israel’s third largest, a center of Jewish culture and education, and is also home to the Baha’i Hanging Gardens and Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This site, sacred to the Baha’i faith, encompasses the largest hanging gardens in the world. From Haifa, you may also visit Mt. Carmel, home of the Carmelite Order, and Akko, another UNESCO World Heritage Site that is the oldest settlement in Israel’s northern region. Over 4,000 years of recorded history await you in the narrow cobblestone passageways and colorful bazaar.

Days 9/10 • Jerusalem/Ashdod (Overnight) Greet this day in the Golden City, Jerusalem, a site sacred to Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, a place considered holy by faiths around the world. The sacred sites in and around Jerusalem are too many to count. The Mount of Olives. The Temple Mount. Gethsemane, and its garden of olive trees. Bethlehem, with the Church of the Nativity, built above the actual stable cave where Jesus is believed to have been born. Visit the Room of the Last Supper and King David’s tomb. View the golden Dome of the Rock, where tradition holds Mohammed ascended into heaven. The site is also believed to have held Solomon’s Temple. Include a visit to the Western (Wailing) Wall, the last vestige of the ramparts that surrounded the Jewish Temple.

Alexandria, Egypt Mediterranean

From here, too, you may visit Nazareth, childhood home of Jesus; Cana, site of Jesus’ first miracle recorded in the Bible; Caesarea, built by Herod the Great to honor Caesar Augustus; the Sea of Galilee; Capernaum, where Jesus called disciples to be “fishers of men”; and the Mount of the Beatitudes, traditional site of the Sermon on the Mount.

You may also include a visit to Qumran, the site which revealed the Dead Sea Scrolls, plus a relaxing swim in the mineral rich water of the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth, as well as the Baptism site at the Jordan River and the heroic site of Masada. Your options here are as varied as the city itself.

Day 11 • At Sea As we sail between Jerusalem and Alexandria, we pass through thousands of years of history — in a world as contemporary as tomorrow’s headlines.

Day 12 • Alexandria, Egypt Founded by Alexander the Great in 331 B.C., this city, the largest on the Mediterranean coast, was once home to the towering Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the renowned Library, the world’s largest, said to have held irreplaceable documents and knowledge. Welcome Aboard

T

he streamlined sailing yachts of Windstar are like nothing else

at sea. Even in the most prestigious yacht-filled harbor, your ship is easy to recognize. Just look for the elegant vessel with the brilliant white sails stretching toward the sky. All three Windstar yachts feature expansive teak decks, which is quite unusual for smaller ships, and unlike other ships of comparable size, our sailing yachts offer plenty of hidden nooks and quiet spaces to call your own.

Shore Excursions Artfully crafted, Amazingly authentic Forget everything you know about ordinary shore excursions on ordinary cruise lines. With Windstar, the same magic you enjoy on board applies to your experience on shore as well. Small, intimate tour groups We won’t tag you with a number and turn you into just another tourist lost in the crowd. Our groups are small, rarely more than 20 people. Whenever possible, we arrange our tours when few others will be there. And we plan them with time to savor what you see without rushing to the next stop. Highly trained, knowledgeable guides We’ve hand-picked your guides. They know that you want to see and experience more — and they’re ready to exceed your highest expectations, just as we do on the ship. Terms & conditions CRUISE FARES: Your fares include ocean transportation, stateroom accommodations, and all meals and entertainment on board the ship. Not included, however, are items of a personal nature, such as alcoholic beverages, laundry, transfers prior to or after cruise (dis)embarkation, or optional programs or activities. Shore excursions, airfare, and additional conveniences or conveyances not specified in the itinerary are available for an additional charge. All rates shown are per person based on double occupancy. Fares are published in U.S. dollars. Note: Third-person rates are available upon request. For further information on fares, non-discountable amounts, taxes, and surcharges, please see below. SINGLES: Single occupancy of a stateroom is 175 percent of the published per person stateroom cruise fare (200 percent of the Owner’s Suite, Suites, and Bridge Suites per person cruise fares) and is subject to availability. RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENT: Windstar Cruises works with travel agencies nationwide to serve your needs. Alternately, you may reserve your cruise directly if you prefer. Since accommodations are limited by the number of staterooms on each ship, reservations should be made as early as possible. Your deposits and payments for Windstar Cruises services are to be paid to the travel agency with which you made your reservation, or to Windstar Cruises directly. Travel documents will be issued only if and when full payment has been received by Windstar Cruises. Refunds for cancelled or unused services will be made to the same account used for payment, less any applicable cancellation fees and charges. If you have reserved your cruise with your travel agent, please be aware that additional fees charged by the booking agency may apply. Guests under 21 years of age must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or chaperone in their cabin that is at least 25 years old; one adult (age 25 or older) chaperone is required for every five (5) people under 21. DEPOSIT AND FINAL PAYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Immediate deposit of US$750 per person for all sailings (except Transatlantic(s), which are US$500 per person) is required within three (3) days of booking to secure a reservation, though special terms may apply to promotional fares. Back-toback sailings will require a deposit for each leg of the sailing. Final payment is due no later than 90 days before departure. We will provide you with travel documents, including your passage contract, approximately 60 days prior to departure. Travel documents, however, are only issued after final payment has been received by Windstar Cruises. Send all payments to Windstar Cruises, 2101 4th Avenue, Suite 210, Seattle, WA 98121, U.S.A. Payment is also welcome by American Express®, Discover Card®, Visa®, or MasterCard®. For faster processing, please include your confirmation number on your check. Travel professionals should make checks payable to Windstar Cruises. LATE BOOKING POLICY: On bookings within 45 days of departure, we require final payment (cashier’s check, wire transfer of funds, or American Express®, Discover Card®, Visa®, or MasterCard®) before we can initiate the process of requesting hotel and/or air space; on bookings within 14 days of departure, we are unable to make air or hotel arrangements. Windstar Cruises will advise you of the status of the request within five working days of receipt of final payment. If your request is confirmed, travel documents may be delivered to the departure point of your cruise. If we are unable to confirm your late booking as you requested, all monies requested will be refunded in full. Please note, changes or additions to the cruise package (i.e. transfers, special services, gifts or onboard packages) cannot be made within seven (7) days of departure. CANCELLATION POLICY: A full refund (except for amounts paid for Cancellation Protection Plan) will be made for written cancellations received by Windstar Cruises at least 91 days prior to the date on which you are to commence travel by any mode of transportation booked through Windstar Cruises (air, sea, or land). Guests who cancel after that date for any reason, including medical or family reasons, are subject to the following cancellation fee schedule: 90 days – 60 days forfeiture of deposit (US$500/$750) 59 days – 30 days 50 percent of gross fare 29 days – 0 days 100 percent of gross fare

Windstar Cruises can only be responsible for refunding amounts actually received. Travel agencies may impose their own cancellation fees. Agency fees of any nature are a matter to be decided on solely by the agency and guests. Windstar Cruises contracts are non-transferable. Name changes and departure date changes are considered reservation cancellations/re-bookings and are subject to cancellation fees. Changes require the prior approval of Windstar Cruises and may not always be possible. CHANGE FEES: Changing your itinerary after reservations have been made can result in a loss of advantages gained by early planning. To cover administrative costs, a minimum charge of US$50 per person will be assessed if you request a change in your travel arrangements less than 91 days prior to commencement of travel. This doesn’t apply to departure date changes (please refer to Cancellation Policy). Change fees are not assessed for stateroom upgrades or for the addition of services unless air reservations are altered and/or travel documents must be reissued. CRUISE CONDITIONS: “Ship” refers to the ship that will provide the ocean transportation portion of the cruise. All of the ships are registered in the Bahamas and owned by Bahamian corporations. “Owner” refers to the owner of the ship; the Wind Spirit is owned by Wind Spirit Limited; the Wind Star is owned by Wind Star Limited; and the Wind Surf is owned by Degrees Limited. Ship ownership and registry are subject to change. “Cruise” refers to the specific cruise indicated, as it may be modified by us, and shall include periods during which you are embarking or disembarking the ship or are on shore while the ship is in port. “Windstar Cruises”, “We”, and “Us” refer to Windstar Cruises LLC, a Limited Liability Company that acts as the agent of Owner and is doing business as Windstar Cruises. “Initial Departure” means the time at which you first begin transit by any means of transport booked by us (including air transportation) for the purpose of taking the cruise. “Windstar Cruises Air Package” refers to air transportation booked for you by us to enable you to travel to and from your cruise. NON-WINDSTAR CRUISES SERVICES: Non-Windstar Cruises Services (such as airlines and other off-ship transportation carriers, shore excursions, meals, accommodations, air ambulances and shoreside physicians) are generally performed by carefully selected independent contractors. Those NonWindstar Cruises Services that are performed by independent contractors are solely at your risk and subject to the terms or arrangements made by you or on your behalf with the independent contractor furnishing the Non-Windstar Cruises Service. Windstar Cruises assumes no responsibility with respect to these Non-Windstar Cruises Services (including for delay, injury, death or damage to property) even though it may collect monies or make arrangements for the services. Situations may arise that, in the opinion of Windstar Cruises, make it necessary for Windstar Cruises to cancel, advance or postpone a scheduled departure, change itineraries or make substitutions involving ports of call, other travel components, vessels or other modes of transportation. These situations may include, by way of example, concerns regarding weather conditions, issues involving safety matters, alternative business arrangements or charters resulting in the decision to withdraw a sailing from public sale, or requirements of governmental authorities. If this should occur, Windstar Cruises does not assume responsibility or liability for any losses, inconvenience or expenses incurred by guests as a result. GUESTS WITH DISABILITIES: Windstar Cruises does not discriminate against persons on the basis of disability. We seek, to the extent feasible, to accommodate the needs of persons with disabilities. There are no elevators on the Wind Star and Wind Spirit nor were the ships originally constructed to be wheelchair accessible. As a result, these two ships may be unsuitable for people relying solely on wheelchairs for transportation. The Wind Surf is equipped with elevators, but staterooms are not wheelchair accessible. Also note, there is no elevator access to board the ship. Certain ports require the ship to anchor; in this case guests must be ferried into port. Service animals are permitted on board ships if prior arrangements have been made at time of booking. In limited situations where an individual with a disability

would be unable to satisfy certain specified safety and other criteria, even when provided with appropriate auxiliary aids and services, we may find it necessary to ask the individual to make alternative travel arrangements. It is essential that Windstar Cruises is notified of any special medical, physical or other requirements you may have at time of booking. FARES, NON-DISCOUNTABLE AMOUNTS, TAXES AND SURCHARGES: Windstar Cruises reserves the right not to honor any published prices that it determines were erroneous due to printing, electronic or clerical error. Each cruise fare includes a Non-Discountable Amount. That portion of the fare is both non-commissionable to travel professionals and not subject to reduction in the event of a percentage discount promotion, 2-for-1 promotion or otherwise. Fares quoted in this brochure are those in effect at the time of printing. If cost factors dictate the need for fare increases, Windstar Cruises may do so at any time prior to departure. Guests can cancel (without paying a cancellation fee) rather than accept a fare increase. Taxes will be collected separately from the cruise fare. The term “Taxes” as used by Windstar Cruises refers to certain taxes, fees, and charges imposed by governmental or quasi-governmental authorities, including port authorities, relating to any aspect of your cruise. If governmental action results in any element of taxes exceeding the estimates used by Windstar Cruises for purposes of preparing this brochure, we reserve the right to pass through the extra amount. Similarly, Windstar Cruises reserves the right to impose or pass through fuel surcharges, security surcharges or similar incidental surcharges. No right of cancellation exists under any of these circumstances. SHIPS’ REGISTRY AND TRADEMARKS: All of the Windstar Cruises ships are registered in the Bahamas. Windstar Cruises has registered trademarks in the United States and various foreign countries for the names and phrases Windstar®, 180° from Ordinary®, 180 Degrees from Ordinary®, Romance Under Sail®, and the Windstar Cruises logo. Should you need to contact Windstar Cruises prior to sailing, use this address: Windstar Cruises, 2101 4th Avenue, Suite 210, Seattle, WA 98121, U.S.A. TRANSFERS/PRE- & POST-CRUISE SERVICES: Services for Windstar Cruises cruise-only guests (individuals who do not purchase air transportation or cruise extensions from Windstar Cruises) begin with embarkation at the noted time in your cruise documents. Any transfers, meals, and dayroom accommodations required prior to this time are the responsibility of the guest. Please make a note of this, as many international flights arrive several hours prior to the scheduled embarkation time. Guests may purchase a transfer from local airport to ship for day of sailing and from ship to local airport for day of disembarkation directly through Windstar Cruises Vacation Planning. Home City Air Guests flying on dates other than the date of (dis) embarkation must arrange their own transfers unless the reason for the different date is because of the purchase of a cruise extension from Windstar Cruises. Transfers for these guests will be arranged between airport, hotel and pier, as appropriate, so long as the transfer dates coincide with the dates of the services purchased from Windstar Cruises.

AIR PROGRAM FORCED OVERNIGHTS: Due to airline schedules (and occasionally, lack of flight availability), travel between many home cities and your cruise may require one or more hotel overnights en route. If necessary, the cost of hotel accommodations is not included in the air addon amounts and is the responsibility of the guest. Hotels will be selected by Windstar Cruises and may not be at the port of (dis)embarkation. Guests are responsible for meals and items of a personal nature. Note: Some hotel packages may not be available in conjunction with our air/sea program due to our preferred carrier’s flight frequency between port cities and the U.S.A. or Canada. SEAT ASSIGNMENTS/AIRLINE SERVICE REQUESTS: While seat assignments, frequent flyer miles or other service requests such as wheelchairs, special meals or oxygen cannot be guaranteed by Windstar Cruises, your travel agent or

Vacation Planner may assist you with these arrangements where possible once you receive your tickets. Some airlines or charter operations may not offer advance seat assignments. Each airline has its own baggage allowance policy. You are responsible for any excess baggage charges imposed by airlines. AIR DEVIATION SERVICE: Windstar Cruises offers added flexibility in making air arrangements to and from our cruises. With our Air Deviation Service, we seek to accommodate your request to travel to or from your port of cruise (dis) embarkation on dates other than those usually booked. We’ll consider other deviation requests including specific airline, flight or time; upgrades to first or business class; and gateway cities not offered in Windstar Cruises’ Home City Air Program. Confirmed requests to fly in early or fly out late forfeit the associated airport transfer. These services will be furnished only under the condition that the booking is on deposit. Please be aware that full payment for any special airline services will be due immediately upon our confirmation and may not be refundable depending on airline policies. Written requests should be faxed to Air Deviation Service at 206-733-2790 or mailed to Windstar Cruises, Attn: Air Deviation Service, 2101 4th Avenue, Suite 210, Seattle, WA 98121, U.S.A. Requests should be submitted prior to final payment in order to assure proper consideration. All requests are subject to availability and are not guaranteed. If confirmation is possible, guests will be assessed a US$75 non-refundable service charge per request and any additional airline costs incurred. AIR CHANGES, CANCELLATIONS, AND REFUNDS: Once airline tickets have been issued (or at any time within 59 days of travel), any changes or cancellations will result in cancellation fees in the amount of 50 percent or 100 percent of the gross fare (see Cancellation Policy section on pg. 118 for detailed schedule). In addition, should the requested change or cancellation result in a fare increase or airline charge, you will be responsible for payment of the additional amount. The maximum refund for unused flight coupons will not exceed the air add-on paid by you to Windstar Cruises. Please note, that because of changing airline tariffs, your actual air tickets may reflect fares higher or lower than the charge assessed by Windstar Cruises. If so, the difference is neither chargeable nor refundable to you. LIABILITY AND RELATION WITH AIRLINES: If, due to any cause beyond our control (including, for example, capacity controls placed upon us by airlines due to the types of fares under which we book), we are unable to arrange for air transportation or the air transportation we arrange is unavailable or otherwise fails to materialize, our sole liability will be limited to refunding the air add-on amount paid to us. We assume no liability for any acts or omissions of any airline, including, without limitation, those involving cancellation of flights, schedule changes, re-routings, damage to or delay or loss of baggage, flight delays, equipment failures, accidents, pilot or other staff shortages, overbooking, or computer errors. The liabilities and obligations of an airline to you and your rights against an airline are subject to any and all terms and conditions of the airline’s ticket and tariffs and any and all governmental laws and regulations bearing upon or otherwise relating to such rights, liabilities and obligations. AIR TAXES AND FEES: Air add-on costs quoted by Windstar Cruises will not include Passenger Facility Charges (US$3 US$27), federal flight segment taxes for each flight segment (takeoff and landing) of US$3.70, the September 11 security fee of up to US$2.50 per passenger enplanement (up to a maximum of US$10), international arrival and departure taxes assessed in foreign countries (the amount of which may be charged in the currency of the foreign country and is subject to change) or new taxes which may be enacted after this brochure was published. Departure taxes collected by local authorities at the airport upon departure are currently assessed in Barbados (US$30) and Costa Rica (US$26).

All rates and fees listed above are per person and are subject to change without notice.
