Lot: 7

Horse: Circus Maximus x Next Century

Signalment: Bay yearling filly Left = S Right = 9 over 3

Examined at: Windsor Park South Island Sale, May 2025

Vendor: Windsor Park Stud

Requester: Dr Judith Latimer

Radiographer: Kaipaki Veterinary Services – Dr Judith Latimer

Left Fore Hoof: No significant findings.

Left Fore Fetlock: There is a well-rounded, 5.5 x 3.3mm osteochondral fragment emanating from the dorsoproximal sagittal ridge of the distal cannon bone. There is an osteolucent area on the mid sagittal ridge of the distal cannon bone consistent with a delayed centre of endochondral ossification.

Left Fore Knee: No significant findings

Right Fore Hoof: No significant findings.

Right Fore Fetlock: There is an osteolucent area on the mid sagittal ridge of the distal cannon bone consistent with a delayed centre of endochondral ossification

Right Fore Knee: No significant findings.

Left Hind Fetlock: No significant findings.

Left Hind Hock: No significant findings.

Left Hind Stifle: No significant findings.

Right Hind Fetlock: There is a 6 x 2mm type I osteochondral fragment emanating from the plantaroproximal aspect of medial PI.

Right Hind Hock: No significant findings.

Right Hind Stifle: No significant findings.

Comment: Rating this horse as a low, moderate or high risk to develop lameness in one of the radiographed joints or areas I would rate this horse currently as a low risk given surgery to remove the fragment from the left front fetlock joint. That said, surgery may not be essential as many horses tolerate racing and training with similar sagittal ridge fragments so elective surgery is optional. Should surgery be performed the horse would carry a good prognosis.
