Civic Leadership Webinar

This half term, we were joined by Mick Donovan, Pro Vice Chancellor Partnerships for University of Worcester and Anji Barker, CEO of Newbigin Community Trust for a webinar on Civic Leadership.

Mick and Anji shared their experiences as civic leaders and gave best practice examples of some of the fantastic work they’re doing in the community through their respective organisations. They also provided tips on how schools can become civic anchors in their communities. Catch up now and view a recording of the webinar here or by clicking on the embedded video below.

Sustainability Sustainability Update

Did you know that since we embarked on our journey to become one of the most sustainable school trusts in the country, we have:

● Reduced CO2 emissions by over 300 metric tonnes

● Generated over 630,000 kWhrs of sustainable clean energy for our schools

● Reduced our annual energy consumption by 12%

This has been made possible, in part, as a result of a capital investment of £4m over the last two years to decarbonise our school estate, through investment of our School Condition Allocation funding and support from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.

We’re incredibly proud of our commitment to a greener future and to mark our progress to date, we brought together staff and students from across the family to create a short film. Watch in full here:

Sustainability in Action

It’s always fantastic to hear about the innovative ways our staff and students are putting sustainability into action.

Adrian Edwards, DT Technician at Kingswinford Academy, has inspired students towards more sustainable thinking by creating a homemade recycling machine to support their 3D printing projects. Adrian used a YouTube tutorial to build a manufacturing machine capable of producing the PET filament that 3D printers require using only recycled plastic bottles for his Year 10 and 11 students. He now plans to further fine tune the machine so students can regularly manufacture their own filament before they make 3D printed prototypes for their design coursework. Watch the machine in action here:

WAT Annual Report

Windsor Academy Trust has published its first annual report, showcasing the fantastic achievements of our students, staff and schools last year. 2022 was a year of emerging stronger as we entered our second decade and launched a new strategy. The report provides a space to bring together our collective efforts in one place and celebrate all that we’ve achieved as a family. It will also serve as a useful resource to share with others outside of our family of schools. The report is available to view now on our website: https://www.windsoracademytrust.org.uk/about/annualreport/
