Recently, on August 17, the Winchelsea Fire Brigade tested the brigade’s Pre-Incident Plan (PIP) for the National Trust property, ‘Barwon Park Mansion’ on the Inverleigh / Winchelsea Road. As part of the PIP, Winchelsea invited its neighbouring fire brigades to attend. These brigades included Inverleigh Fire Brigade, Gnarwarre Fire Brigade and Wurdale Fire Brigade. Collectively, there was 1 pumper, 5 tankers and 30 volunteer brigade members attending.

The purpose of the PIP during testing is to firstly identify the volume of water required from two operational points, being the front and rear of the building. Secondly, to confirm the number of tankers sufficient to supply a consistent and un-interrupted supply of water through charged lines for an ‘internal and external fire-fight’. Thirdly, and importantly, provide training to the volunteer members, many of whom had not yet visited Barwon Park prior to this exercise.
