We understand that choosing a school for your daughter can be an exciting and challenging process. After all, it’s not just a school you are choosing; you are setting your daughter on the first steps of her educational path and joining a community which she, and you, could belong to for the next 14 years and beyond. As you consider whether WHJS might be the right fit for your daughter, we hope to give you a small taste of what sets us apart and makes our school so unique.
As a through-school we wholeheartedly believe in the powerful benefits of a 4-18 education and the capacity we have to nurture success and happiness in our girls from the first day of Reception right through to the end of Sixth Form.
Being part of Wimbledon High School means that we can benefit from the facilities of a much larger school, such as our onsite swimming pool, playing fields, auditorium, theatre and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) space.
School life is about so much more than examination success. Fun, friendships and finding a love of learning is the foundation of our playful scholarship ethos. And because happy and confident girls learn best, our pastoral care is at the heart of everything we do.
We are extremely proud of our outstanding academic results, yet prouder still of the grounded young women who stride out of Wimbledon High to a vast range of academic courses and careers beyond.
Entry at age 4+ into Reception at Wimbledon High Junior School is managed by a Ballot Process. There are only three things you need to do if you would like your daughter to be included in the ballot draw.
Complete your daughter’s application
Pay the application fee
All these things (applications, payment and open event attendance) can be completed anytime from birth up until the application deadline for your daughter’s entry year, although we must emphasise that no priority is given for early applications.
The application deadline for each reception year group will be the last Friday of September in the year prior to their entry year (e.g. September 26, 2025 is the deadline for Entry into Reception in 2026).
Register your interest in WHS for your daughter by completing an Enquiry on our online admissions portal. This is a quick and easy process where we collect your contact details and basic information about your daughter. Completing this form ensures you are kept aware of upcoming events and deadlines relevant to your daughter’s potential year of entry.
If you would like to see the school at this stage, attend one of our tours-only Junior school events – these events take place on weekday mornings in March, June and September. These are smaller scale events (roughly 30 attendees) and are intended for parents to attend without their daughters. You will be given a tour of the school and will have an opportunity to chat with members of the Junior School Leadership Team and admissions colleagues. While there is no formal “head’s talk” at these events, it is a great opportunity to get a feel for the school and have some questions answered while you are still in the process of deciding where you will ultimately apply.

Attend the Saturday Junior School Open morning (in the 2nd week of September). This event is much larger and is intended for families to attend together giving your daughter a chance to see the school for herself. There will be exhibitions, access to classrooms and a talk from the Head of Junior School followed by a Q&A segment.
Complete your application and pay the fee before the deadline (end of September) and confirm your daughter will be included in the ballot draw
Complete your application and pay the application fee (if you have not already done so) We will be in touch to confirm your daughter will be included in the Ballot Draw 3
Attend one of our open events. We recommend a smaller event for families whose daughters are under 3 and for those interested in OV places, and the main Saturday open morning for families seeking entry for the following September. Please note you are welcome to attend more than one open event.
Occasionally, we have Junior School places to offer in year groups from Year 1 to Year 6. All occasional vacancy places are filled by an assessment process.
Register your interest in an occasional vacancy for your daughter by completing an enquiry on our online admissions portal.
1. Register your interest in WHS for your daughter. This is a quick and easy process where we collect your contact details and basic information about your daughter. Completing this form ensures you are kept aware of upcoming events and deadlines relevant to your daughter’s potential year of entry.
2. The school receives notice that one or more places may be available in a given year group. This happens when a family gives us notice their daughter will be leaving (typically a term in advance).
3. We begin by contacting all families who have registered interest in the applicable year group on our admissions platform to advise them we believe we have a place to offer and ask them to confirm their interest. All those who confirm will be invited to complete an application and pay the application fee prior to the assessment date.
4.The assessment is conducted. Our occasional vacancy assessments vary depending on the year group.
5.Offer(s) made and waiting list formed. Following an occasional vacancy assessment, we will usually add a small number of candidates to a waiting list. This waiting list will be valid for a minimum of 12 months from the assessment date. After this, candidates will be invited to attend another assessment to be considered for any future vacancies.
Our School is strongly Family orientated and we have many siblings throughout both our Junior and Senior Schools.
For entry into Reception, families who have completed an application before the published closing date and who have a sibling attending WHS at the time of ballot draw, will automatically be offered a sibling place. This is the only entry point at which the sibling policy is active.
For entry into all other year groups, we do not automatically admit siblings into the school. All applicants will sit an assessment before the offer of a place can be made. If two candidates are equal in all other ways, preference will be given to the sister of a girl already in the school.
Our School fees are set by the Girl’s Day School Trust. Junior School fees for the current academic year can be found on our website. Fees are payable by direct debit either termly or monthly.
