The Company BADMINTON England is the National Governing Body for the Olympic sport of badminton and is going through nothing short of a revolutionary change as we embark on one of the most exciting times in the history of our game. BADMINTON England is focussed on increasing the number of people that play, and developing an effective infrastructure for the sport across the country. Badminton is already the 6th largest participation sport in England with 544,000 adults playing once per week and we have ambitions to grow this to over 600,000 participants as a legacy of the Olympic Games. The Regional Delivery Teams will play a vital role in increasing participation by ensuring the effective delivery of core programmes, supporting and managing stakeholders and key partners, and in identifying and maximising local opportunities.

The Role Based at a Regional Office, the Regional Delivery Manager will lead the Regional Delivery Team to achieve ambitious targets, translate national strategy into regional and local delivery, and lead relationships at a senior level with County Badminton Associations and significant regional partners. Key Responsibilities Lead the Regional Delivery Team • Lead the Regional Delivery Team ensuring a focus on the delivery of key objectives, particularly increasing participation • Recruit, motivate, manage and develop the Regional Delivery Team to ensure effective delivery and excellent team working • Set expectations for the region, and manage the team to deliver ambitious targets • Monitor and evaluate regional programmes and partnerships, ensuring that resources are maximised and the offer is constantly evolving, taking corrective action when required to ensure maximum impact • Work with Heads of Service, both within the Development Team and across the organisation, to ensure effective communication between head office and the regional team • Manage the regional budget to ensure that objectives are delivered and the benefits of investment are maximised Translate national strategy for regional and local delivery • Ensure a co-ordinated and strategic approach for delivery across the region • Set regional targets for core programmes and priority areas, ensuring each team member and partner is aware of the required outputs • Utilise robust evidence in decision making, and make necessary changes based on intelligence • Communicate the regional plan to team members and partners indicating how this contributes to national outcomes • Identify opportunities in the region and prioritise key partners at a strategic level that will enable the greatest return on investment • Create city wide plans for the major cities in the region that will contribute significantly to regional targets


Lead relationships at a senior level in the region • Ensure an effective relationship with the County Badminton Associations in the region, informing, consulting and involving them as appropriate • Monitor potential investment into CBAs to deliver BADMINTON England programmes, in collaboration with relevant programme leads • Communicate national and regional strategy to all relevant partners, promoting the benefits of their involvement • Influence key regional partners to directly deliver against, or to support the delivery of, the regional plan Other Duties • To comply with the requirements of BADMINTON England’s staff handbook • To undertake such other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post (or as may be allocated by the Director of Development) Skills & Experience Required • • • • • • •

Excellent working knowledge of sports development structures at a local and regional level Experience of successfully leading and developing a team The ability to understand national strategy and apply it effectively to the planning and delivery of activity in the region Proven success influencing decision-makers and winning support Strong negotiation, influencing and partnership working skills To be driven and focussed on delivering targets The ability to interpret and assess partner/customer needs, identifying trends, and generating solutions

This position offers a competitive salary plus pension, company car / car allowance and other benefits. In addition, a London weighting may be available depending on agreed office location with the successful applicant.
