Job Description Title:

Devon Golf Development Officer

Salary:

ÂŁ18,000 (Self-Employed)

Working hours:

Working hours by agreement / flexible working hours – 28 hours per week

Location:

Work from home

Responsible to:

Devon Golf Partnership steering group

Duration of

1 year on a self employed rolling basis. (Starting Sept 2013).

General:

However, the post is subject to the availability of external funding without which the purpose of employment does not exist. This funding is subject to annual review by the funding agencies and should it be withdrawn employment will cease. In such cases appropriate notice will be given. As the post is subject to external funding, there is also the possibility that it could be extended beyond this period.

Purpose of Post:

To work with the Devon Golf Partnership, England Golf, Active Devon and Golf Foundation to co-ordinate and implement the Devon Golf Operational Plan.

General Duties: 1.

To work with the Devon Golf Partnership, England Golf, Active Devon, Golf Foundation and other key partners including School Sport Partnerships, Clubs and Local Authorities - to ensure effective delivery and monitoring of the Devon Golf Operational Plan.

2.

To attend appropriate local, county, regional and national meetings and report to and attend Devon Golf Partnership Group meetings.

3.

To support local golf Clubs to develop and achieve their full potential.

4.

To be responsible for the provision of written reports to all partnership organisations to illustrate the progress of the Devon Golf Operational Plan.


5.

To ensure that financial procedures involved in delivering the Golf Development Plan adhere to the Devon Golf Partnership rules and regulations.

6.

To raise the profile of golf activities within the county, ensuring effective communication is promoted between all partners and agencies delivering golf across the County.

7.

To ensure that all aspects of the planning and delivery of the Devon Golf Operational Plan are in line with best practice in terms of Equity and Duty of Care and Child Protection.

Specific Duties: 1.

To be the first point of call for golf development enquiries in the county.

2.

In conjunction with golf clubs, courses and driving ranges in the county develop, co-ordinate and promote an adult participation project in the county.

3.

To promote, encourage and support local Clubs to develop and achieve Golf Mark accreditation.

4.

To support and promote national and local development initiatives for participants and clubs, including ‘Get into Golf’ taster sessions and liaise with Devon Get into Golf Centres.

5.

To promote and co-ordinate an effective coach, official and volunteer support programme.

6.

To identify potential sources of funding and apply as appropriate to support the implementation of the Devon Golf Operational Plan.

7.

To produce & disseminate promotional material and provide information for DGP and partner organisation websites to promote golf within the county.

8.

To administrate and co-ordinate the County Academy Programme and Coach Education programmes.

9.

To administrate and co-ordinate the CGP operational activity programme.

10.

To undertake other duties deemed appropriate by the Devon Golf Partnership and appropriate funding partners.

Other Information: This role may include working on a one to one basis with children and as such falls within the Regulated Positions – Section 35 of the Criminal Justice and Court

Services Act 2000 and as such 2 References will be required and the successful candidate will be required to authorise an application for a Disclosure Certificate from the Criminal Records Bureau. The Development Officer will be expected to travel as part of the work, and must therefore have their own transport. Travel expenses will be paid at the Devon Golf Partnership and Inland Revenue approved rates. The work is likely to include a reasonable number of unsociable hours including some weekend and evening work.
