Matters Arising from last mtg

1

3.1 TS updated the group on the progress of Wiltshire Loves Arts: the steering group are due to meet with Visit Wiltshire within the next couple of weeks to look at the detail of the website proposal made by Visit Wiltshire for a Wiltshire Loves Arts site which will run within Visit Wiltshire. 3.2 PT asked that at that mtg David Andrews gives an update on the Destination Strategy 3.3 TS updated the group on the Culture Vulture Ap. She confirmed that with the support of Wiltshire Council, The Pound, SAC, Salisbury Playhouse, WAP/WYAP, and Wiltshire Music Centre were investing in the pilot that should launch in July. 4.

Faye Stewart presented on the key areas of funding currently available

4.1 For detail see the attached paper: Strategic Funding Programme 4.2 Faye extended an invitation to any WAP members to get in touch with her if there are any elements of funding that they would like to know more about.

5.

Valerie Hayward. Report on the Music Hub

5.1 See attached notes for details 5.2 The Hub needs a strategic reference group and would like WAP to have a representative on it. ACTION: The members at the mtg agreed that the steering group would appoint someone to rep at the next steering group mtg scheduled for May 10. 5.3 Paper proposes music service, WYAP and WMC work together as a strategic core 5.4 Part of the Hub is to have a music outreach strategy, joint marketing and advocacy ACTION: Need to keep Valerie informed of the Wiltshire Loves Arts work. 5.5 Early years work: Hub does not include early years work at the moment, though needs to ensure there isn’t replication NF shared how she is developing work in early years music and reported that a funding application for early years network in southwest was not successful. There is a network of practitioners in the region ready to deliver this work. 5.6 There are no other bids competing in the region, money has been allocated to Wiltshire, but if a bid fails they will invite another org to take on the work. 5.7 Key to the success of the bid is to find synergy wherever it exists, mindful that more is expected for less funding. 5.8 Intelligence on what is required is key, there is a role in advocacy so a real need to share with wider WAP membership 5.9 A point was made that it would be good if Wiltshire Council's funding policy were in line with this work 6.

Peter Tyas. Update on Cultural Strategy

6.1 Supporting paper and Power Point attached. Before presenting on the Cultural Strategy PT shared information on Employer Supported Volunteering. ESV is where a business supports organisations by giving time, expertise, skills, access to facilities, supply chain or customer base for example. There is currently a questionnaire being circulated re what you would want if you were granted a few days ESV. For more information please contact Peter, Peter.Tyas@wiltshire.gov.uk 6.2 PT noted that the current 6 page strategy is a shaping document, not a Cultural Strategy, 6.3 PT shared that from the work carried out the economic impact of the arts in Wiltshire can be estimated as being between £80 to £100 mil 6.4 There will be a formal consultation period from May of 3 months, during which time Working groups set up. ACTION: WAP to lead/ support these? 6.5 It was suggested that PT change the word ‘Real’ to ‘physical’ 7.
