I. Transcripts

a. Before classes can be assigned to you, we must have official transcripts for each degree you’ve earned. Please plan to have your school(s) send electronic copies of your official transcripts directly to me at sroberts@wilsoncc.edu by Monday, July 15th .

II. First Day of Work

a. On your first day of work, Thursday, August 1st , please report to campus at 8am and plan to meet with Gretchen Lynch from the HR department (room: B109)

b. Once you’ve completed paperwork with HR, we will meet in my office (room: C203a) at 8:30am. This meeting should only take about 30 minutes, and you are free to leave after the meeting.

c. You are not required to report to campus on Friday, August 2nd

III. Tasks to Complete Before August 6th:

a. Work Week Schedule (see below)

b. Course Syllabi (see attached)

c. Moodle Courses/Moodle Readiness (please visit: “Getting Your Course Ready”)

i. Note: It’s possible that the distance learning department at PCC could collaborate with ours to get your Moodle courses transferred.

IV. First Two Weeks of Work

a. You’ll report to work on Wednesday, August 7th and Thursday, August 8th for convocation from 8am-5pm. Beginning Friday, August 9th and ending on Wednesday, August 14th , your schedule will be consistent with registration hours (M-Th, 9am-6pm, F, 9am-2pm).

b. Beginning Thursday, August 15, you’ll work your regular work week schedule (see below).

V. Work Week Schedule

a. Faculty are expected to work at least 30 hours on campus per week during the fall and spring semesters. The remaining 10 hours may be completed on or off campus during the work week. Faculty are required to work through the day that grades are due.

b. You are also expected to maintain three office hours in the fall and spring.

i. English and math instructors use their office hours to tutor students via our English and Math Enrichment Center (EMEC). We usually begin tutoring services around the second or third week of the semester.

c. All faculty must enter their work week schedules in the Outlook Calendars.

i. New faculty will receive an email from WCC Roombook with the subject line “Sharing Invitation”. This is what you’ll use to enter your schedule.

ii. You’ll get more information from Gretchen Pully about this.

VI. Secondary Employment

a. Currently, faculty are allowed secondary employment.

i. Requests for secondary employment during regular College business hours (Monday-Thursday, 8am-5pm and Friday, 8am-3pm) will not be approved.

ii. Faculty are required to submit a Request for Secondary Employment Form prior to accepting a part-time position.

VII. Professional Development

a. All faculty are required to earn at least eight hours of professional development each academic year (August-May). The hours will be reported during your annual evaluation.

VIII. Advising

a. Beginning in the fall semester, you will shadow college transfer advisors. In the spring semester, you will be assigned a caseload of college transfer advisees.
