Kit Of Parts

Kit of Parts is about taking pre-engineered components and rearranging them to form a model or structure. The beauty of it is that for everyone the final result will be different. My iterations take on different forms emphasising different sections from the left being more enclosed to the right having an open build to it.

Drawing elevations of your design is a great way to visualise the sculpture without needing to have it as a physical product. The top, front and side elevations cover all aspects of the model in detail and makes it so much easier to see how the components line up!

Green represents the area in which I cut through and the dashed line is what's remaining.

The location that I have chosen was based on a place that I use to visit all the time back at home. Located up The Vardre this location has an impressive 360 degree view of beautiful North Wales. The low levels of light pollution and clear views from East to West makes this perfect for Stargazing.

Sketch Ideas These initail sketches where just the first kind of ideas hat I had, I wanted to enphasise the purpose of the building as it looks out to sea and also another view upwards to the sky so that there is always an impressive view throughout the day.

Designs This design is far more simplified as I though it would be important for the design to only have one function and that is for Stargazing.

I feel that it is too basic and the design is not my favorite.

Designs This is my final design and compared to the previous iteration I believe that it is the ideal balance between function and aesthetics. The design focuses on the sky at night and the view of North Wales throughout the day time. This balace means that it could be used at anytime rather than just at night as a place to relax and clear your head.

AutoCAD Design

This is an AutoCAD design showing the two floors along with windows and doors, the second floor is accessed by a ladder reducing the space taken up by stairs, the ground floor has two chairs facing out taking full advantage of the wide viewing angle.

The second floor is a bed making stargazing comfortable and warm.

Design on Location

Film of Choice The film that I chose to recrate on CAD and physical model was Marvel’s 2015 live action film Ant-Man, staring Paul Rudd as protagonist Scott Lang who stumbles across Hank Pym’s (Michael Douglass) Ant-Man suit. Other popular stars include Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña and T.I. I chose this film as it is one of my favourite films in the MCU and was an underdog compared to some other films such as Iron Man and Captain America but proved popular due to its $100+ profit from the box office.

The scene that I have used is the turning stone for the story of the movie. Picturing the moment Scott Lang discovers the Ant-Man suit by accident.
