Social Work The Cypress Regional Hospital employs two full time Social Workers that provide a variety of offerings as part of the healthcare team. Social Workers assist the patient/family members by providing assessment, counselling, and discharge planning. They provide a strong resource to all members of the team when dealing with complex patient care.

Surgical Services The Cypress Regional Hospital’s Surgical Services department offers both inpatient and day surgery procedures. The following specialties are offered directly in the Hospital’s surgical department: • • • •

General surgery Urology Minor ear, nose, and throat surgery Dental surgery

• Obstetrics/Gynecology • Opthalmology • Minor Orthopaedic surgery

Surgical services at the Cypress Regional Hospital encompass two operation theatres, a day surgery unit, a post-anaesthetic recovery unit, a nurse and anaesthesia pre-assessment clinic, an operating room scheduling office, and a sterile processing department. Day surgery services are offered Monday to Friday and emergency surgery coverage is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Comprehensive and holistic care is provided and nurses work collaboratively with the patient, family, and multidisciplinary team to return patients to optimum health.

Women and Children’s Health Services Unit The Women and Children’s Health Services Unit (W/C) provides a wide range of patient services including: • • • •

Labour and Delivery Midwifery Newborn care Lactation Consultant for mothers seeking assistance with breastfeeding • Pediatrics care of children from infancy to 16 years of age • Gynecological surgery • Medical overflow The W/C unit is located in the east wing of the second floor. It is a 15 bed unit apprised of 3 Labour and Delivery suites, 5 pediatric rooms, 7 multipurpose rooms, and a nursery. Specific to the W/C unit is open visiting hours for immediate family, as well as bedside reporting at shift change. Bedside reporting ensures that the patient is at the center of all information and care provided. Staff employed in this unit require specialized training in both Labour and Delivery and Pediatrics. Registered nurses and licensed practical nurses are part of the multidisciplinary team for this unit. www.cypresshealth.ca
