The department utilizes new state-of-the-art technology through its Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) where all images are stored digitally instead of on film. PACS allows faster transferring of images to all departments within the Cypress Regional Hospital, and also allows images to be sent to physicians within the city, across the region, and all major hospitals in Saskatchewan. Approximately 24,000 medical imaging procedures are performed per year.
Medical-Surgical Inpatient Services Medical-Surgical inpatient services are delivered via a 48-bed unit at the Cypress Regional Hospital. This unit is subdivided into four nursing stations in two identical wings where care is provided to patients requiring a wide range of medical and surgical conditions. Your nurse will be involved in the planning of your care with you and your family and would be happy to answer your questions. We ask that you choose one member of your family to act as a spokesperson when calling the unit for information or when talking with the staff. Information will be given to your immediate family members only. The environment on Med./Surg. offers a multidisciplinary team approach to care. Team members may include physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, as well as other support staff. We encourage and support family participation in planning for the care of our patients. Discharge planning starts on the day of, and sometimes prior to, admission. Team members work together to monitor the severity of your illness and the intensity of service you require during your hospital stay. A strong emphasis is directed towards facilitating safe discharges to ensure appropriate use of acute
