Cellular Phones Cypress Health Region policy states that all persons entering our facilities shall have limited usage of cellular telephones, cordless telephones, and 2-way radios. There shall be a minimum of two (2) meters between the person and any medical equipment before answering a call. Patient and guests to the Cypress Regional Hospital may use their cellular phones in areas that are free from medical electronic equipment and instrumented clinical areas. These areas include, but are not limited to, waiting rooms, cafeterias, offices, lounges, and patient rooms where medical equipment is not in use. This policy has been implemented to minimize the risk of electromagnetic interference from the use of cellular phones and 2-way radios with the operation of medical equipment. Specialized medical equipment may be susceptible to interference from the transmitter’s power and frequency. Medical equipment or clinical laboratory equipment may exhibit unexpected behaviours such as altered display outputs and unexplained alarms when cellular phones or 2-way radios are used in close proximity to them. Generally the greater the distance between the medical equipment and the cellular phone or 2-way radio the less likely that the equipment will be affected.
Codes During your stay, you may hear overhead pages in the form of Color Codes. These are used to notify our specialized teams that their expertise is needed immediately in a specific area.
