ABOUT POD ORIGINAL Founded in London, in 1976. The Pod name derived from an acronym for ‘Product of Desire’. Pod challenges expectations of what a British shoe should be, striking the balance between rich heritage and progressive fashion designs. The original Pod shoe was created as a reaction against the platform shoes and flares trend that had become popular in the early 1970s. The owners of the brand, Bill and Tony, wanted to design a flatter, more casual shoe to be worn with straight fitting jeans. Today, Jagger is Pod’s most iconic design, first produced in 1976. The unique features of Jagger include heavy mudguard twin stitching, a crepe sole and a stitchout design, which creates a versatile, stylish shoe that over-delivers on style, quality and comfort. The Pod collection is designed in England and manufactured in Portugal; in the same factory the collection was first produced with in the 70’s. The factory was founded 1935 and is today’s oldest shoe factory in Portugal, so they know a thing-or-two about high-quality shoes. Pod releases products in very limited runs, so they are able to ensure the elimination of almost all wastage and only buy what is required. Made by us, especially for your Pods, you won’t find it anywhere else. THE THICK CREPE SOLE A natural shock absorber and insulator, the Pod Original crepe exudes quality. Stitched comfortably underneath our distinctive upper designs, the thick contrasting sole makes our shoes unmistakably Pod. THE RICH SOFT LEATHER Since 1976 we’ve combined soft leather hides and quality materials with our unique bag-lasted construction. So as well as providing your feet with unparalleled comfort, your Pod Heritage shoes will shape to fit the arches of your feet and will mould to your exact pressure points. THE HEAVY CONTRAST STITCHING Not one to blend into the crowd, we like to highlight each individual twist and turn of the Pod design and what better way to outline those elements than with our heavy contrast stitching? As the original jean shoe, the distinctive twin row stitch-lines can be seen from underneath every pair of Lois and Levi 501s.

THE MARKETING GROWTH PLAN SOCIAL MEDIA Social media has never been a more important tool for brands to communicate with customers all over the world. At POD we intend to grow our followings through social media marketing including collaborations with both content creators and brands with a particular focus on Instagram, Tiktok and Facebook. BLOG We aim to grow a bi-weekly blog through conducting brand exclusives, interviews, new style edits and ‘Insider’ exclusives. EMAIL NEWSLETTER We have plans to focus on our email readership. We will send two weekly emails, as a great way to communicate directly with our customers. We will use our emails to introduce new styles, showcase weekly trends, share our blog edit & style guides. We will keep the style of our emails simple, clean and image focused to collerate with our website and marketing strategy. GIVEAWAYS We plan to work with brands to run competitons, prize draws and giveaways with tailored plans to grow both Pod and the brands we are working with.

2022 COLLABORATION HANON x POD Jagger ‘Space Biscuit’ This January we present a collaboration with HANON with a psychedelic take on our cult Jagger silhouette, dubbed the ‘Space Biscuit’.

Detailing arrives via a Flame branded leather looped tongue label with bar tack stitch, alternating HANON & POD debossed leather tabs, and a purple leather lining. Further branding has been applied along the collar by way of a debossed ‘Product of Desire’ callout, a set of dual branded leather laminate footbeds featuring a custom Pod logo print evoking the graphics on posters and clothing from that era. Lastly, a custom heel window has been made allowing for both HANON & POD script branding against an apt era-friendly vibrant tie dye effect.

Inspired by the cultural phenomenon of rave, the late 1980’s gave birth to Acid House, a movement that gripped the country and changed the cultural landscape beyond recognition. Set against the backdrop of disused industrial spaces, new sounds emanating from Chicago and liberated ways of thinking transformed these spaces and those who passed through them into another world.

2021 COLLABORATION POD x STUARTS LONDON

Product of Desire - Beyond the borough Stuarts London x POD collaborate to create unparalleled footwear for men that are on the lookout for durable, comfortable and lightweight shoes. The three-piece collection is inspired by styles taken from the POD archive, mixed with the aesthetic of the 70’s soul boy era. To make them relevant for today’s city-to-suburb living the styles are designed in robust leather and buttery-soft suede uppers and a mix of neoprene toplines and corduroy linings. Not to forget, the soles are made with Featherlite technology for cloud-like walking comfort. The quality and attention to detail is apparent in the final product, which is complimented with the instantly recognisable quilted upper and Pod rubber counter, that is hand-finished on the heel of each shoe as a stamp of authenticity. The STUARTS LONDON collection is a limited edition launch and celebrates the heritage of POD.
