Get Ahead of the Game: Anticipated Gadgets for 2015 It’s time to say goodbye to that ancient flip phone. With smartphone advancements hitting the market in late 2014 into 2015, revolutionary new technology will be available to wireless consumers. Manufacturer announcements have brand loyalists anticipating faster speeds, longer-lasting batteries, and better cameras across the board. Beyond smartphone tech, 2015 also welcomes new products to the marketplace that are simply futuristic, from wearable technology to durable, portable electronic accessories. Stay ahead of the game with this overview of trends to watch in 2015. Smart Device Upgrades ●

One of the most highly anticipated smartphone releases of 2015 is said to be Apple’s iPhone 6s (starting at $199), which is rumored to take the market by storm in the Fall. This year, the iPhone 6 welcomed evolved software with iOS 8, including a boost in performance power, as well as increased megapixels for more-detailed camera images. With improvements that excellent, we can’t wait to see what Apple will do next with the 6s. ●

The Samsung Galaxy S6 (price TBD) is a big departure from earlier models. Fans expect the Galaxy S6 to be the first Samsung top-shelf Android smartphone to come with a 64-bit chip and the new and faster Snapdragon 810. In camera upgrades, users anticipate either 16-megapixel or 21-megapixel capability, likely with a Sony IMX240 sensor (the same that is said to be in the Note 4). Storage in the S6 now starts at 32GB for the base model as opposed to just 16 gigs. Full device details are yet to be released, but many Android users are already preparing to upgrade. Sony is said to be focusing on one major device in 2015, and that’s the launch of the Sony Xperia Z4 (price TBD). With the current model known for premium materials and hardware (including 20 MP camera, 5.2-inch full-HD display, and 2 GB RAM), the Z4 is expected to be even better. Taking a look at recent specs, it seems the Sony Xperia Z4 will feature a slightly smaller screen, and an improved design that includes an underside speaker and waterproof capabilities. Must-Have Gadgets ●

Apple is a fan favorite, and 2015 is said to be another big year. With the highly anticipated reveal of the Apple Watch (starting at $350), fans were pleasantly surprised to see a fashion and fitness-oriented piece of wearable technology as opposed to an integrated computing system like Google Glass. In its most expensive, 18-carat gold iterations, the Apple Watch is more “stunning luxury gift” than “workout tracker,” and it’s perfect for the recipient who has everything. The Om/One Bluetooth speaker (starting at $199) from Om Audio, this gadget must be seen to be believed. A spherical orb, the speaker floats in midair on a magnetic field to prevent interference of any sort that could dampen sound waves.
