Where culture matters

William Buck Foundation

The William Buck Foundation was established in 2022. The aim of the Foundation is to support the community by collectively making the most of William Buck’s financial support, and to encourage our employees to give their time and expertise by volunteering and pro-bono work.

The William Buck Foundation provides a valuable platform for employees across William Buck Australia to connect with the community, get involved, inspire others and give back to the wider community.

Workplace giving

A key component of the William Buck Foundation is Workplace giving which provides a cost effective and simple way of donating to charities. With Workplace giving your donations are made from your pre-tax salary. This reduces your salary for taxation purposes but does not affect the amount you are giving. This means you receive the tax deduction as you are paid so you do not have to claim it on your tax return at the end of the financial year.

In addition, William Buck matches all employee contributions, effectively doubling any donation. We also have a voting system so you can have a say on where your donations are allocated.

Social club

William Buck social club is very active. They provide regualr birthday treats, and fun events throughout the year such as our annual Melbourne Cup cocktail function. It’s a great way to connect with team members across the business and have a lot of fun along the way.

Captain Buck awards

Captain Buck is an important figure in our culture. Captain Buck recognises employees for demonstrating our CARE values. The Captain Buck award occurs each month. Winning employees are surprised at their desks with a personalised gift.

Service awards

Service awards occur at each five year milestone. Many of our employees make 20 years!

Where financial benefits matter

Bonus pool

All employees are eligible to participate in our bonus pool. This pool is moderated and based on meeting certain criteria. These include overall performance of the individual, contribution to the improvement and growth of the firm, and living the CARE values.

Salary sacrifice

Employees have flexibility in choosing how to receive their remuneration through various salary sacrifice options.

Study assistance

We actively support employees who wish to pursue work-related studies. We provide two days study leave and one day exam leave per module/course. Courses are generally funded and a book allowance for prescribed course texts is also available.

For those completing the Chartered Accountants Australian And new Zealand (CCANZ) Program, a study group called CA Bucks ensures you have support throughout the program including access to past exams and study notes.

Professional membership subscriptions

We recognise the importance of maintaining your professional memberships. As such William Buck will cover the costs of your first and primary annual membership or subscription. Subsequent subscriptions will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

IT working from home allowance

With the increase in flexibility around working from home, William Buck provides all eligible team members (who can perform their usual duties from home) a one-off allowance of $300 to assist in purchasing IT (or other) equipment to ensure they can comfortably and effectively work from home.

Return to work benefit

William Buck appreciates the benefits of having a diverse workforce. We endeavour to support all our employees to balance their lives outside of work. This includes recognising the demands of employees with caring responsibilities. The return to work policy is specifically targeted and designed to encourage and support William Buck employees to return to work at William Buck after taking time off to have a child. Thus benefit supports family responsibilities through the provision of subsidised childcare.

Where health and well-being matters

In house psychologist

We recognise that everyone faces various life challenges. The wellbeing of our employees is important to us, so to assist in managing these challenges, we have an inhouse psychologist available to all our employees. This is a professional, confidential counselling service. Our psychologist can assist in dealing with potentially difficult personal or work-related issues.

Flexibility

Flexibility is more than just flexible hours; it is when, where, and how you work. William Buck supports a diverse work environment in which employees can achieve a balance between their professional and personal interests and commitments while still meeting business needs. Our hybrid working structure means you can split your time between working in the office and working from home.

Subsidised personal training

Subsidised Personal Training occurs weekly, usually outside work hours. This is a great opportunity to dust off the joggers and be active while networking with people from different teams and departments.

We strongly believe in the benefit of yoga and provide subsided yoga practice. This takes place in the office, morning and evenings, is accessible for any fitness level and includes stretching and meditation.
