our monthly Art Walks, happening from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month. Downtown galleries, studios, and arts and crafts stores stay open late for art-related events and demonstrations. Pick up a walking map from any downtown storefront member.

A Night at a Historic Theater

But it doesn’t stop with murals. Take a stroll down Madison Avenue, starting on 8th Street, and you can find more than 25 sculptures, photographs, enamel-on-metal reproductions of poems, and silkscreen prints. End your walk at the Riverfront Commemorative Park for a peaceful break. Need a map to guide your journey? Just ask at the Visitor Center.

What better place to see a show than at a historical theater? Head downtown to see comedians, improv shows, plays, and concerts at the 1913 Majestic Theatre. Catch a classic movie, concert, or special event at the 91-year-old Whiteside Theatre, with a newly restored marquee. And don’t forget the locally owned Darkside Cinema: your go-to for movies and documentaries that you won’t see at your average movie chain.
