Fall/Winter 2024 Sun Valley
“Older than Vail, Aspen, and Jackson Hole - Sun Valley is America’s first ski resort. Memories of fly-fishing the Wood River as a child and walking the lodge’s hallways amongst the photos of Clark Gable, Gary Cooper, Ingrid Bergman, Marilyn Monroe, and Gretchen Fraser, the first American to win winter Olympic gold remain priceless. In paradisiacal summers I’d ride horseback in the Sawtooths, climb Mount Heyburn, greet sunrises on the courts, and dine just below the room in which Hemmingway wrote For Whom the Bell Tolls; all the while mesmerized by Olympic skaters in the marquee ice shows. I’d ski every run Mount Baldy provided in winter and when coerced by my parents end a nostalgic evening in the Duchin room, made famous by Eddie Duchin and his band in the 30’s and 40’s. I dedicate this collection to Sun Valley.” - Robert Comstock
