Wildwood is excited to introduce new pieces into Shiga, a special capsule collection of lamps, vases and bowls handmade in Shigaraki, Japan. The extension includes new pieces in blue hues specific to the region, the result of pigment mixing and site-specific firing techniques to achieve the iconic Japanese Indigo glazes.
Marrying ancient techniques with modern sensibility, the collection honors the brand’s relationship that began three generations ago and celebrates a longtime collaboration. Known for its artisan pottery and ceramic techniques, Shigaraki is a small village in the southern part of the Shiga region where the collection takes its name. Shigaraki is one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns, sites that are considered the oldest ceramic production sites and famous for its centuries-old clay beds and kilns. A unique clay handling and glaze oxidation-firing creates small batch stoneware pieces with unapologetic impurities.
Wildwood is thrilled to add more pieces to this unique, artisan collection of one-of-a-kind stoneware pieces emblematic of iconic Shigaraki-ware.
*Alternate shades are available for all lamps.
